WNBA players don't understand that the hurt feelings of a few should not out weight the potential growth for the league. Not including Caitlyn and Angel probably cost the W millions of dollars. Their sacrifices would have help everyone else in the long run. And they wonder why the men make so much more. Business is business for the NBA.
Both Angel and Caitlyn need to use those few weeks off, during the Olympics to get some rest and practice with their team. So they can try to finish this season out strong.
I agree more eyes means more money, more money means everyone gets a little bit more.

I don’t understand why people can’t understand that the W and the Olympics are to separate things. The Olympics are about winning medals, not how popular the players are. The Olympic Jerseys and everything else is going to sell not only in the USA, but around the world. Fans around the world is going to tune in even if the Chipmunks play because fans around the world wants to see of their team can beat the USA, or at least medal. These other countries love their players more than the fans in the USA loves there. I have friends that’s in various countries touring and they tell me that people there couldn’t care less about the players here. They poled overseas to see how many sports fans there know of CC and Angle Reese and none outside of the Americans knew who the hell they were talking about. The Olympics is going to make money whether we watch or not. The Olympics are not just about which country has to best in sports, but its political as well. That’s why the German President would shake Jessie Owens hand. It’s about who’s the most superior as well. People need to stop, especially these media and podcast hosts, because they know the USA Olympics Committee couldn’t give a damn about CC or Angle Reese because they already have their money in the bank 😂 They couldn’t give a damn about the W either. When have you seen those at the top of the mountain give a damn about those in the valley 😂

Bro WNBA basketball has been more physical than men’s basketball this year. Those girls are throwing elbows and completely leaving their defensive positions to triple and quadruple team 2 people. They’re literally trying their harder to ensure Angel and Caitlin don’t shine to try and make an example, regular women’s basketball is not this intense nor is there usually all this upfront and obvious jealousy.

The WNBA should be poster children for the mental illness pandemic in the country. The youngsters get their parents to buy the shoes and the youngsters always drive the narrative. Old men stop watching and down the young generation and talk about how great theirs was.
@@williamgrierson4133 I agree with a lot of what you said, but the Jordan viewership numbers can't be denied. LeBron was the biggest star post-MJ, yet the '20 Finals averaged only 7.5M viewers, with millions locked down at home. Jordan's '98 Finals averaged 29M, with 2 billion less people on Earth, and far fewer TVs and no streaming options.
This is a complex issue why NBA viewership has fallen off, but the attitude of players now that was allowed by Silver is a huge factor. The player empowerment movement saw stars jump team to team in their primes, and sit out games just to rest, two uncommon occurrences for previous eras that were paid far less.
Maybe simply promoting the current and rising superstars, international or US, would have averted this all. The Last Dance had viewership close to the '24 Finals. I think your view on who should be promoted is almost too focused grouped - the 65 game All-NBA rule is a step in the right direction. Perhaps giving larger max salaries to guys on their original teams would help too, promoting loyalty. Just ideas, I'm Lebron's age but feel like a lot of his career post-Decision shaped the league into what it is now, and that's a worse product to watch than Kobe and Jordan's eras I saw.
Those two 100% should’ve been on that team to play to help grow the game & to engage w/ the fans.

Lexie Brown is wrong on this one. DT doesn’t need to be on the team since it’s her 6th Olympics and BG could be off the team, too. Exposure is a main goal for every Olympic team. And it’s baffling to expect the team to stay competitive if you’re not fielding and exposing younger players to learn. Caitlin and Reese both should be on the team.
They still haven't said what the criteria was for the selection committee. Used to be they had tryouts.

Team USA should not have picked injured Chelsea Gray, as there was no evidence that she would perform post-injury at the similar level pre-injury. Her latest stats show Chelsea does not belong at all at the Olympics.

The fact that they chose 5 SG's and only 1 real PG for the team shows that they went out of their way NOT to bring CC.
No shade on Reese game, she’s good.
But
CC is the reason for the explosion. When professionally analyzed, any other good metric not directly related to CC, can be traced to secondary “wake” effects.
If CC didn’t exist, Reese would be just another great basketball player coming out of college into a struggling league.

If Clark's long range shots start dropping she could hand up a 20+ point Triple Double against Team U.S.A. and then what would the critics say about her?
