I didn't realise that there was so much to see and do in Milan. The city certainly has much history and is truly beautiful. Thank you for bringing this wonderful city to our attention. Although my Italian friend has been extolling the virtues of Italy for decades and I still have not visited!!
Buongiorno. I haven't been to Milan, I went on an Autotours camping trip in 1976 and we didn't go there. I would love to see the duomo. It looks magnificent. WOW, Oh WOW! Thank you again for taking me with you, I am loving it.
Thats a great idea to show the top places rather than trying to film a crowded cityscape in the rain. It also shows how touring in a campervan gives you control of how long you spend queueing to see something quite remarkable. Bravo! 👋🇬🇧🇪🇺🇺🇦🇮🇪
Yes we live the freedom to change plans when we want. We recently spent a couple of extra days in Venice waiting out the weather. (That video coming in a couple of weeks)
beautiful video. Milan is my natal city and i used to live there a long time ago (35 years ago). still visit it once in a while. did you see the "navigli"-area? beautiful area, its worth a visit. and there are many restaurants to get an "aperitivo", near the water canals, for a very good price. big compliments for your channel, love your videos
Wow. I have not been to Milan either. Those tours are often great value for the places you need to book months in advance for, or queue for hours to get in cheaply, like the Colosseum. The big galleries and museums of Rome mostly require advanced booking to enter now, so always book those when you secure accommodation if you have a planned itenary is my best advice. Harder when you are travelling via your heart and nose in a van though. The shopping complex looked amazing. I knew Milan was the other major renaissance city, alongside Florence, so nit surprised how magnificent the architecture and museums are. Food in Italy is usually delicious. I would have to have gone for a cheap ticket to anything at La Scala too. Usually there is the standing room tickets for a few US dollars. I have seen the La Scala orchestra perform at the Sydney Opera House and they were extraordinary! Keep enjoying and looking forward to your Lake Como episode!
I've been waiting for this, you two... thank you from the bottom of my heart! I'm glad you liked it, I knew you would. Shame the weather was not kind though. We had sunshine. Looking forward to Como. I just hope it's sunny!
Thank you Heather, glad you enjoyed it! We’ve definitely had a lot of rain while we’ve been in Italy, but, spoiler alert, we did have a beautiful day in Como.
When you enter the Milan cathedral there is a sundial drawn on the floor which is hit by a ray of light entering from the south wall which indicates the time.
Could you go up on top of the Duomo when you were there? The view would not have been as nice in the rain but it was really interesting going up there and seeing how it was built. Great highlights😀
Yes, it costs extra to go up to the top (and involves more lining up!). It would have been good to do that. We did go to the top of St Mark's in Venice and will do the top of the Duomo in Florence too.
Beautiful and interesting video. By the way, can I tell you how to pronounce Bellagio? It's not "bella-GEE-O". The "I" is silent, like in the word "region"
Love your channel but can you stop having your face in front of what you’re filming behind? It’s very offputting and just go slowly with what you’re filming. It seems a bit blurry and going too fast to focus on the beauty that you’re trying to show us.
@@Annlouisekakoschke thanks Ann, we try to keep a balance between providing info and commentary (with face) and showing the places we are seeing. Are you watching on a TV or computer/phone? Its good to get the feedback that its a bit blurry - sometimes I film with my phone (especially in this video where I didn't want to take the camera out in the rain) and it does sometimes struggle to focus.

@@nigelandsueadventures I will get there one day, after I finish getting around Oz! lol
Nice video, Milan is a great city. Looking forward to Como and Bellagio, there are some beautiful walks and views. Have fun.
Yeah it was a lot of fun. Would be good to visit in better weather to see more of the good outdoor places
We were lucky enough to be able to go up onto the roof of the Duomo when we visited in 2016. Also, the historic trams a re a fun way to get around.
Yes they reminded me of the trams in Melbourne back in the day.

@@glendafaber1245 glad you enjoyed it Glenda - but never say never!!
Buon giorno to you both from Sydney. Milan is stunning, and I still have a lovely handbag purchased from a stall beside the magnificent duomo.
Oh wow! What a lovely memento of your time in this beautiful city. Thanks for watching!
Love your top 10 things to see in Milan, especially your analogy of Michelangelo's last sculpture 🤣
Its such a beautiful piece of art. Glad you enjoyed it Jenny

The information you give on your travels is fantastic more details than they show on some of the travel programs on TV
Thanks Ian, glad you enjoyed it!

Oh there's so much more we could have seen!! Sadly the weather wasn't really kind to us, so we've saved some for next time!

Thanks for the film, now I want to go to Milan! 😄 But what terrible weather you had! Seems to be raining all the time!🌧️

So one question,is nigel a new zealander ? Just asking because of his accent .ciao
Well done Luigi! Yes he is. Not many people can pick that though
I have a aussie/kiwi friend that a few years ago tried to show me the subtle differences and i guess he did well.ciao
Pizza , whats better Australian pizza or Italian pizza ive always wanted to know 😃
In our opinion Italian pizza is 100 times better than Australian! But that's just our opinion.

The weather on your "Sunny Italy" trip was horrid, think I saw 2 days of sun so far in the entire series
