      Can someone help me? ABLETON LIVE 10 is not displaying the BLUE YETI USB MIC on the drop down list under the AUDIO INPUT DEVICE. The current driver type is on MME/DirectX. I see a different driver type name ASIO but it doesn't read the BLUE YETI USB MIC as well. If anyone can help please?

    BRO! That audio effects chain made my vocals killer!!!
    I was finishing the last song in Andrew huang's class and I couldn't figure out how to make my vocals not sound like BS. So I saw this post by our favorite realist puppet. Applied all of these effects minus the Valhalla supermassive... I just used the Ableton stock Reverb with the dial turned towards dry and a bam! Instantly could hear my voice more crisper. It had this effect that had bite to it. All I can say is fist bump homie. You are the coolest dude on the Block... even if you are just a puppet LOL

    Also, if you haven't seen their other vids about how to record vocals with good technique/ treat your room and set up the studio then defo do that too. Your mix will be even more fire. Oh and the studio lights too, that always makes for Saucy vocal performances.
    Reid do you know of any free De-essing and tuning plugins in ableton or third party plugins? I noticed those weren't part of the process in this vid but they seem pretty important most of the time. Maybe you could do a tutorial showing Common Vocal Production Mistakes and how to prevent/ correct them (even better with stock plugins) There are lots of things I've learnt you should do but also lots that ya SHOULDN'T, it would be cool to see some of the common mistakes you see/hear.

    I salute your genius. You make it sound so easy, but this level of intuition must take many months and years of doing this pretty much every day. learning and learning and learning. Good job. Great song, lovely vocal, and a very clean mix.... well done.
    Teh question them becomes, why should we all bother to learn all these skills, if we only mix one or two songs a year, and its impossible to get really good, unless one mixes lots of songs, at least one or two every day, or every other day..
    My point is, this video begs the question, what am I, a singer, songwriter, recording engineer, or mixing engineer, unless I really want to make mixing a major career and do this for many many years as a means of income, mixing all kinds of songs, some I like and some which I do not like, and focusing certainly on the money and fighting my way to the top of the mix engineering industry, for most people, why don't we just learn how to get a basic mix going, and if we need commercial grade results, pay Reid Stefan and give him some direction, on what we wish the end result to sound like.
    How do I contact Reid Stefan, if I want to send him a mix, not the puppet, the man. cool chick by the way. Send her my compliments.

    I have a Blue Yeti and this is exactly what I needed! I kept wasting time looking at more expensive gear (or at least a mic + audio interface) after just having bought it and being dissatisfied with it. A lot of Blue Yeti videos are geared towards podcasters, and most covers are ages old, so I appreciate this! Thanks!

    • @ANSWERTHECALLOFJESUSCHRIST
      @ANSWERTHECALLOFJESUSCHRIST 4 роки тому

      In my experience, the trick with the Yeti is finding the sweet spot distance between the mouth and capsule, because it's really sensitive and the sound changes a lot. I got one back in 2014. I opine it's all one needs to record great vocals with minimum equipment. I LOVED how it made my voice sound, and also used it with a laptop to record thunder, rain and singing birds in stereo. :D So many sound possibilities. I miss it, but I gifted it to a friend two months ago simply because it's USB powered and didn't fit my workflow anymore. I would've kept it, but I felt selfish having it in its box and not using it. I have an Aston Origin and a Stellar X2 that I use with my other interfaces. Karra proved here in this video that the Yeti doesn't hinder the talent behind it.

    Absolutely incredible. I myself do a lot with vocal production and him quite proud of the evolution of my knowledge throughout the years. I thought I had a pretty decent process for working vocals and my tracks had always sounded exceptional. That is however until I came across this video. All I can say is it's about time to update my playbook so to speak. Your video was extremely informative and very well comprised. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. It really does help not only myself but others looking to better their production techniques. What was really messed up, was you guys used a blue yeti. Way back ago when I switched production DAWs from cool edit pro to Ableton 8, I tried to get the blue yeti to work with ableton, but was never able to fully alleviate the delay. That then caused me to go out and buy a condenser mic. I still have the blue yeti and don't use it for much anymore but I may have to rethink that. You made it look so easy when you hooked it up. And I swear I tried absolutely everything to get the yeti to have no delay to no avail. All in all your video has caused me to rethink quite a few things. I've just recently become the proud owner of ableton 11. So imagine my wonderment and confusion when I switched from Ableton 8 and jumped right past 9 and 10, straight to 11. I've seen a few of your videos over the past week and they are impressive. Keep up the great work. I will be subscribing and following your videos until I run out...

    I appreciate that you are using stock plugins and you obviously know them like the back of your hand - that says a lot about your skills. The video can be misleading because your vocalist is clearly amazing, I mean the dry tracks are incredible untouched. One question... You are suggesting that viewers purchase a condenser mic rather than a dynamic for recording vocals?

    • @ReidStefanMusic

      The only 2 advantages of Dynamic mics are they’re cheap and they aren’t sensitive to background noise or room echo. Condenser is better for modern studio vocals in every other way

    Thanks for this video and it helps me a lot for my future recordings. My problem now is I don't have any good audio interface since I am using my AKG P120 which is a budgeted condenser microphone and it receives a lot of background noise, or maybe I need to purchase atleast 1 good audio interface so I can record with good preamp sound. I hope I can learn about mixing more than this. I can't download free plugins (wider). btw, thanks again for the tips. Greetings from my beloved country, Philippines.

      If you’re in a budget Get the new Focusrite 2i2 4th Gen that recently dropped
