Research trips are heavily controlled by the Russian and Ukrainian Government. They have the perfect cover to hide whatever is in there. People normally stay out. @@lairdriver The thing is, wolves don't just consume big prey like buffalo, elk and moose. They eat lots of small game as well, like beaver and rabbits and they'll certainly bully other animals away from their kills. If there's an abundance of prey animals, and a large territory to occupy, the wolves can and will grow to large sizes. It honestly is that simple. As for the radiation? I think its deteriorated enough that its safe enough for wildlife to repopulate, and the only reason humans don't move back in is the lack of wealth to actually exploit the land, and just a general fear of the remaining radiation.
