For everyone worrying about the dog in the first video: The dog lived! I've read the story. The owner was standing by with a shot gun, the dog ran after the wolf because it had been hanging around. She was protecting the property (which is where this took place). The wolf bit her in the back end and threw her up in the air. The owner shot his gun into the air and the wolf ran off. The dog had some wounds but she healed.
EDIT: because of all the comments, this happened in Saskatchewan, Canada. You can easily google it and many articles will come up with quotes from the owner saying exactly what I said in this comment.
Thanks ,I was worried 😊

Got to work at a wolf retreat a few times. You can’t really get a true idea of how big wolves really are until your standing right next to them and see how much bigger than a dog they are. It’s pretty cool. The ones I saw were timber wolves and I’m sure there are a lot bigger ones out there!
I had a dog who was half timber wolf once. We had her for 13 years and she went through about 2-3 years where she would kill animals in the back years when she was younger. There's was a couple skunks, a few birds, a few other. She grew up to ultimately be one of the most docile dogs I ever had and always super gentle with people
I had a wolf Hybrid as a pet. He was 90% BC timber and 10% G. Shep.He was at a full grown age of 3yrs old. 6ft long front nose to butt and was 155 pds. His teeth, the fang was @ 1 3/4 ins. Gentle and highly skiddish but to just long at him when he stared at was enough to make any man back up.
@@ninamoon4381 my hybrid was so intelligent that he dug a hole right beside my house where when he layer in his eyes was level with the lawn. Any animal that came in my yard was Done. 3 cats, a couple squirrels and 1 Ground hog. No birds tho
I believe Timberwolf is the largest remaining subspecies of grey wolves. Almost any wolf in North America - outside the arctic region - will be a timberwolf. Red wolf (another grey wolf subspecies) is all but extinct. The Eurasian wolf is another Grey Wolf subspecies. Basically, all dogs, wolves, coyotes, dingoes, and jackals are the same species, 'Canis lupus'. It's crazy, right? I'm fairly sure they can all interbreed - maybe not jackals but the rest can for sure.
Irish wolfhounds are massive too.
The second wolf had that vibe of "f**k around, find out", both are absolute units

Seeing that wolf in the second clip, it makes perfect sense to think that there’s a half human half wolf beast out there. Wolves have this epic yet horrifying slouchy front stature that is almost indescribably like a crouching human. Yes, werewolves are real. Native Americans have plenty of stories on them. They also are intelligent creatures that can run on 2 legs and jump extremely large spans. Maybe they could train you to do it
I agree but on the other end i never understood why dogs do that shit, it's such a dumb animal. Cats win the intelligence contest hands down.
People think the dog is going to win, but it isnt. The wolf is running out either to trap it where its most advantageous to it or because it see no reason to fight and get hurt. if it has to fight, there is NO contest whatsoever. A wolf WILL kill ANY breed of dog out there.
They probobly had there dog off leash, so when the poor mut started barking at the wolf there was nothing they could do but pray.
It’s very upsetting, I wish they had attempted to call the dog back to themselves or something. Put it on a leash and walk backwards watching the wolf until they reach safety. Originally the wolf didn’t look like it wanted to attack but the dog was obnoxiously barking at it and following it around it broke my heart to hear it cry out at the end. Only let your dog face a wild animal when that animal is attempting to attack you.

Imagine 2000years ago before humans starting destroying all the forests how large wolves must have grown with plenty of habitat. Could you imagine a PACK of Giant Wolves hunting you?? No wonder they got their place in our myths.
No myth...legend.
Just imagine though. Some of these humans must have been pretty baller to fight those things. We were probably just beating them to death with clubs, rocks and hatchets.
@Backlash1818 Mobile Gaming Channel We probably lived next to them a lot. Especially during the ice age, wolves probably hunted the same exact animals we did. It's theorized that the origins of dogs are wolves that acted as scavengers by eating from the animals that nomadic humans would kill.
I don’t wanna imagine that lol for some reason it’ll change how I look at German shepherds an huskies
@Backlash1818 Mobile Gaming Channel depends, their fear was probably bred to some degree due to wolves more hostile to humans having less time to breed. and wolves are one of the few animals you could probably 1v1 and win if you're relatively fit, just the minor issue of having to shove your arm down their throat !

I was so lost as to why. Come to find out they were wolves. Ive been trying to find an actual video that describes the size of those wolves and THIS is FINALLY it. These are the exact looking wolves we spotted at the camp. We all had to of coarse evacuate into our camp site. It was truly scary and luckily they were at a distance where we still had time to make it back. Very surreal seeing this again. I’m so happy the dog is ok
@@swayzy762 LMAO 😂
@@swayzy762 exactly. This is why people need firearms. Would any of you volunteer to rescue the dog with a stick? Be it wooden and blunt or metal and sharp you're humped. Even if you win it wouldn't be without killing or seriously wounding the wolf and the dog is probably already dead, in addition to your own injuries. Or just one deafening bang and the wolf buggers off with it's tail between it's legs posthaste. People forget the world we all live in, our ancestors would be insulted and disgusted to see what they won with over 10,000 years of constant sacrifices.
@@swayzy762 that is the more common perception of dogs, tools to be used and broken. While I didn't specify this, which is my bad, in this case the dog represents anything that you would try to protect and the wolf a predator or other threat that might attack. Did you hear about the recent case in Seattle territory where a guy woke up to find a cougar in his kitchen? We are not helping ourselves by encroaching on predators territory and disarming ourselves at the same time. Plus predators aren't even always the worse. I don't think we have any hyper aggressive prey animals in the US, but cape buffaloes and hippos in Africa kill more then lions, hyenas, venomous snakes, crocodiles, hell everything. Nature is scary and we don't have fangs or claws or armored hides, we only have our brains and tool making abilities.
On your specific comment though, the dog was doing exactly it's job and I never heard the owner even try to call it off. In my mind that creates a moral obligation to protect your proverbial brother in arms, the dog in this case. Thanks for your reply, my original comment was a little off topic.

Wolf size typically depends on their diet in the wild. Wolves that typically get huge usually eat a diet that heavily consist of Elk and Bison. The meat in those animals have clyglocengens that builds muscle in the wolf at a much faster rate then typical sized wolves that feed on deer, gazelles, or smaller aquatic forest animals such as fish. clyglocengens in animals is identical to creatine that helps in strength and muscle building in humans by the way.

I actually might know an explanation for this. Wolf-dog hybrids are typically much larger than either parent, because of a genetic phenomenon called heterosis. Black coloration is usually an indicator of domestic dog ancestry, because it's exceptionally rare in full-blooded wolves.
When I saw the first 'wolf' video, what stuck out to me was the tail. A wolf in the wild does not have a long 'hook ended' tail. That was not a pure wolf, it actually looks eerily like a black German Shepherd. Wolves have shorter body, longer leg, and shorter 'bottle brush' shaped tails. If anything the animal in the first video is a wolf hybrid, and like you said, that makes it bigger than it would be otherwise.
Where we live there are plenty of pure black WOLVES, not hybrids, and they are MASSIVE.. Some people believe they have Siberian genetics...

bro aint no way thats a wolf , thats ... thats a monster
First video's absolutely fascinating. Here's what I observed:
Dog is barking at the wolf. It's curious and scared and obviously alarmed. Wolf assesses the situation. Some people in the comments say that the dog's aggression triggered a response, but I disagree. What the wolf is doing there is waiting; seeing how close the dog will get. The wolf isn't trying to play with the dog either; some people think that. It's trying to kill the dog.
The wolf launches at the dog, but quickly realizes that the dog can outmanoeuvre it, and it's fast enough to anticipate the attack and get away. Also, the wolf's position is already compromised: the dog knows it's there, so it can no longer ambush the fast dog. The wolf gets all of this information from just charging the dog once. What the wolf does now is extremely clever and quite scary: it immediately stops the attack and fakes a retreat. Tail between the legs, arched back, staying low to the ground: it's pretending to be scared of the dog, showing very submissive and fearful/cowardly body language. Dogs react to that behavior, thinking the other canine is fleeing. This triggers the aggressive chasing instinct of the dog, and it quickly persues the wolf.
The dog does this to make sure the threat leaves; chase it away as it's already scared and fleeing to ensure that the wolf doesn't change its mind. If you own a dog: try it. Play fight with your dog, then cower and whimper, and quickly run away and see how your dog responds to that. It will give chase; thinking that's its chance to dominate an intimidated opponent. The dog isn't dumb, it's just dog nature: instinct. Normally, what the dog does there would certainly work in making sure the threat vacates the area, but that's actually pack behavior. A pack of smaller, loud and aggressive animals will chase away a single, larger predator. Think of hyenas loudly chasing after a single lion. The wolf is displaying the same behavior as a lion would if it were being chased by a group of smaller hyeanas. So the dog is not stupid. It's just doing what it should be doing, except there's no pack to back it up.
You can see the wolf constantly looking back, checking the distance. The dog hesitates a split second, halts, and keeps a distance, and the wolf sees it, and cowers even lower; faking hesitant flight attempts. This makes the dog feel brave enough to get just a little bit closer, effectively taking the bait. At that point, the wolf knows the dog is within range, it turns around and quickly launches at the dog. I believe the wolf grabs the dog; most likely on the backside of the body, or a leg or something. Dog realizes it got bamboozled, cries in fear and panick, and probably in pain too, and the owner finally decides to do something.
The behavior of the wolf is very interesting. It learned how to do that: fake a retreat to invoke aggression and let the faster, aggressive canine approach till it's within range. It either learned to do it with other wolves, or it had some practice on other dogs, which could mean it killed dogs before. The wolf seemed to know how dogs respond to that. It might have even specifically been targeting the dog; looking for an easy meal. If the dog hadn't spotted the wolf, I think the wolf probably would've jumped it and killed it anyway. Wild animals are extremely alert and aware of their surroundings. It would've noticed the man and his pet dog and moved away long before they were close enough to film it like that. But the fact that it's that close to the dog implies to me that it was hunting it. It looks like the wolf got super close; close enough to ambush the dog, but at the last moment the dog spotted the wolf.
I don't think I've ever seen a dog do that. Whenever carnivores behave like that; they mean it.. and they'll bolt the first chance they get. But the wolf wasn't trying to leave; it wouldn't have tried to catch the dog first. The dog didn't have a pack to support it, nor did the (much smaller) dog show superior power in any way. The wolf just knew the dog would chase it if it would fake a submissive retreat. That's manipulation and deception. I mean its monstrous size is impressive, but the intelligence is truly scary.
👏
great observations. though, i don't know if speed was the greatest factor here though. the dog's first evasive maneuver wasn't to turn back and out run the wolf, it ran to its side.. knowing something that big wouldn't be as nimble at zigging through the obstacles of the trees. in a straight line race, there's no way, with that stride advantage, the wolf wouldn't catch up. both animals calculated the environment, and each other's strengths and weaknesses (size/speed/experience/etc) in little to no time. instinct, experience and intelligence. i agree, the wolf most likely has had more successful interactions with dogs, and that dog probably had little to no experience with a predator of that size. if the dog was truly without a pack, or alone, i think it's clear if it behaved the same way, it would have paid the price. though we can't assume that the dog would have made the same choice to pursue without the backup it had, and had exp with having their gun support.. though, was prolly hoping the human would have put his gun to use sooner. anyhow, i totally agree, this was a brilliant display of split second decision making/intelligence on both parties. nature is impressive, always to be respected.
The difference between domesticated and wild intelligence. Awesome take
So do you think it's dead
@@razieldreams9568 there's a claim that the dog was grabbed by the hind side, and tossed about, which would explain the whelp at the end. owner discharged his gun (not sure if it was a warning shot in the air), wolf ran off, and the dog survived with minor wounds.

Wolves are way bigger than people think. I actually got to pet one once, and I could not believe how massive it was.
You can't pet a wolf..
@@vishalshah4497 It wasn't a wolf that was in the wild. There was a guy at a park from a wildlife center. He had a wolf there on a harness. The wolf was used to and was good with people, but we had to keep our dogs away from him because the instinct to hunt them was still there. He was easily the size of a great Dane, but way more muscular. I had never realized how big they were. I always thought they were closer to the size of a husky.
It was a crazy and random opportunity that I had, but yes I did pet a wolf!
Actually, they're way smaller than people think. I see idiots saying they're 180-300lbs. The biggest get like 100-120lbs, Grey Wolves from MacKenzie Valley. The biggest ever recorded was found almost 100 years ago in 1939, and weighed 174lbs.
@@TheStraightestWhitest Well I guess I'm the dumb one then 😂. I thought they were a little bit bigger than a Husky. The one I pet was easily as big as a Great Dane. It completely took me by surprise.

Good thing you weren't there or you'd have been dinner.
I live in Northern Alberta where we have the largest wolves in the world ( The Mackenzie Valley sub-species of Timberwolf ). A few years ago my son and I were hunting overnight in the late fall and we slept out in the open on a sandbar by a river. Just as it was getting dark I gave a couple cow moose calls and a whole pack of wolves started howling. It sounds pretty eerie and CLOSE when you are out in the wild and just sleeping on the ground with no protection. So we built a fire and my son fell asleep in his sleeping bag... I couldn’t sleep and made sure to have my rifle loaded and by my side. Just as I was nodding off I heard something sneaking through the bush and walking down to the river bank where we were. I had my flashlight ready as it came closer, just as I was about to turn the light on it turned around and headed back the way it had come. Gave me goosebumps, that’s for sure. I don’t think it was a moose because it sounded smaller, I’ll never know, but it was definitely creepy!
I got goosebumps just reading this. The wilderness can be a terrifying place at night when you know there’s no backup.
@@piemasta93
Lol hell yeah
Bigger than Siberian wolves?
Lucky they don’t mess with humans or hundreds of us a year would be killed by them, But a cougar can kill any wolf one on one. Cats are amazingly strong for there size!
so you made a couple cow moose calls like an asshole and called in the wolfs to your camp site while your son is there? Brilliant.
Holy crap that Black Wolf was huge, and did you notice how it pretended to run away in order to get the dog to chase it and then turned on the Dog quickly, amazing footage.
Jesus King idk most wild dogs are pretty cunning like jackals, foxes and coyote. They likes to lured their victims instead of front on attack. If you watch Jackals video, they’re so darm smart
Wolves are smart, never think you have the upper hand around one, even with a gun.

Source? I haven't found anything regarding that bit, and it's hard to believe such a wolf wouldn't obliterate a considerally smaller dog.
The original footage is from Deep Bush Survival and it was uploaded on October 1st 2015. Apparently there was more to it after it got cut off. The dog was bitten on it's back and got launch in the air. It did survive however. Shot a couple shotgun shells in the air to scare it off and he ran after it. But yeah, this footage is legit. Monstrous wolf size. I'd guess it's around 5.5-6ft tall and over 11ft. The location is near the northern parts of Saskatchewan which is...pretty remote.
This video as been here over 10 years and still no more info about it... I want to know more but seems like the guy doesn't want to talk about it so this clip is all we have
Wolf standing next to a dog is like genghis khan standing next to a modern day 30yo streamer
The dog was like: "Aye, yo! Get tf off my turf homie! You shouldn't be around these parts, Imma mess you up real bad, bro!" Then the wolf got up & ran towards him & he was like: "Yo! Yo! Yo! Chill, homie. I was playin', I was playin'!" Lol.
Then he ran up like shit was sweet and got worked hahaaaa
Then the dog ran back in and straight died, domesticated animals have zero survival instinct lmao

@@gawdlysiinz5134 Sure you would lol. You're just built different, a natural born wolf tamer of ancient times.
for those asking, I highly doubt that wolf killed that dog. The wolf didn't seem to be hunting or defending territory. The wolf wasn't even violent until the dog chased back after it. Probably just got ahold of him to scare him a bit, which he did 😂 but the dog was probably unharmed. It's very rare for a dog fight (or wolf fight) to end in death. A wolf will especially back down and run away if you, a human, starts to come into the fray. Wolves in most instances are more afraid of us than we are them. It's been instinctively ingrained into them and pass down through their DNA, that humans have been successfully hunting them for thousands of years.
