I love how the guy who invented, Or at least popularized, the idea of “Yunners” in Rimworld, has the uncomfortable, broken smile at the idea of attacking the hospital.
Echoing something that has been said repeatedly, if you like this then FTL is likely right up your alley and it IS a good game. Simple, yet complex in the ways that it can be laid out. I think it's on your wheel too!
@@thekrampuselbananoquevivee9947 forts is still more fun, hough I have not played this. This might have a better campaign and troop management but not building or aiming manually, it is similar but different.
Damn, i used to play this game on my phone like ... years ago. I'm super surprised to find anyone covering this at all xD By the way, i think they have these three extra variants of every fort which are just upgrade because you need to pay for the premium version on the phone to get access to those.
This is a crazy coincidence, I actually just thought of this game today for the first time in like 7 years ! And i was kinda disapointed i couldn't find quality content on it so instead i started watching Francis's starsector videos ! Thanks for making this video !
Love this game, I regullarly get a streak of 90. Tips I have 1 light mortar and as many basalisk cannons easily takes out over 90% of all of the levels. Basalisks fire so fast that if you have a shield down 1 cannon will keep it down, also 5 cannons firing at once will get past defence systems with atleast 2 shells, 3 vollies will take out most systems and if not they will chew into enimies health. Light mortar is also needed as they hit hard reload quick and have shreading, mix that with basilisk stun you can kill opposing enimies quick. I tried Archon precision cannons, they were my favourite, the basalisk I found to just be more consistent and better at supression. Hydras, I tried them they fire more but take way to long to reload. Other things besides guns, I had always had airships and took over every level I could, point defence is awesom, had it whenever I could, accuracy is important when you are pumping out a tone of shells, shields I find important, the thing that makes everything miss is awesome, special operations is important when the rival base has one to combat theirs. Best run I had to restart one level, the levels that can't be taken by basilisks the answer is big guns. Great game I enjoy playing it occasionally
I too did mass Basalisk cannons with mortar on my first run until I ran into tougher forts. That is when I discovered the joy of Archon cannons. Do they have a nuke reactor? Three Archon cannon shots and they don't. Got a shield unit? Four Archon shots, the shield unit and everyone operating it is dead. Archon cannons may not be the best for every situation but with some smart play can get you out of just about every situation.
Couldn't agree more, I just found for take overs and consistency basilisks work better. Almost had a few perfect runs I think it's 92, 96 or 98 that trip me.
It's just when they pop they do massive damage to adjacent sectors. Face the wrong fort and they will snipe out your reactor and you are pretty much dead. It's one of the reasons I love the Archon cannons, three of them will pop and enemy reactor and shortly after the enemy fort will fall.
@@FrancisJohnYT Finally got to an enemy base using one, and popped it. Yeah, Yikes! I can see why nuclear is bad in this game. Beneficial maybe, but the risk is way too huge!
They are targeting different towers in range. It's a world of endless war, and the political leadership is enjoying the good life, betting on different generals as entertainment. For story purposes you do get different towers which are staged in different places.
Sometimes it's fun to just play a little simpler game. But I do wonder, why didn't you focus on taking down the point defenses with your archon cannons? I would think that would simplify things for you.
In the forts game the first volley is crucial. You need to get the enemy fort below the level where it can one shot any of your turrets. You want to be able to repair faster than they can wear you down. So most times you have to snipe out a few cannons before taking out their point defence.

Attacking a hospital is just asking Randy for cruel and ironic retribution.

FTL is great! And I agree; I think FJ would like it as well. Let's hope it comes up on the wheel :)
The moment I saw a cannon that starts fires I thought of FTL
This looks like a watered down single player version of the game called "Forts"
this came first
@@thekrampuselbananoquevivee9947 forts is still more fun, hough I have not played this. This might have a better campaign and troop management but not building or aiming manually, it is similar but different.
I think FTL would be a better comparison
This a lot different
I think I ended up discovering this game because of Forts, it's not nearly as complex but it's much easier to bite off in small chunks.
"They all die, every single last one of them. Perfect!"
Francis has been away from RimWorld for too long.

i always choose the one with extra soldiers since having extra soldiers is far more useful than the other variants
Ohhh so I assume you get it free on mobile but you get the upgraded forts if you pay.
Since I bought it on steam I got it all straight away.
The main menu background says 'the emperor is always right'.
Thanks, I figured a googling would have disappointing results.
This reminds me that I think you'd really like HighFleet.

Kind of reminds me of FTL, Just not space ships
Memories of the Future, the last episode vibes INTENSIFIES.
It was a direct inspiration for this game. Not a coincidence.
i loved this game please play more of it.
It gets much harder when you reach last levels
Can't wait for prison architect "series"
this reminds me of an old game called Tank Wars a 1990 PC Game.
You'd like Forts.
This game has been one of the best games on Android. Great throwback.

i remember playing this as a kid, the game is old an it is intended for mobile, so it is what'd you expect
I've never heard of this before. I look forward to finding out more!
I would *LOVE* to see your take on Forts!
Wow, this game looks like it plays like a "game" I played on paper as a kid to keep myself entertained lol.
This looks like a simplified version of "Forts"
22:40 "Do we have enough firepower?"
Did an alien replace Francis John? What kind of question is that?? More dakka! MORE!!
😉
Things I never thought i'd hear Francis say during a game: "I hate nuclear reactors"
That tells me the game is totally doing Nuclear Reactors wrong! 🤣
It's just when they pop they do massive damage to adjacent sectors. Face the wrong fort and they will snipe out your reactor and you are pretty much dead.

Looks like a weird mix of FTL, forts and fallout shelter, interesting.
From one warcrime game to another. It is a miracle FJ isn't an ICC guest yet in The Hague.
Great video 👍
Oh it's one of these tower gun games.
Still eager to see Francis' take with Don't Starve.
FJ is the real swiss army cannon
There must be an eternal earthquake.
Three way the guns all jiggle
this game is amazing, its REALLY good and hard
the upside for taking default fort rapor is that on mobile at least its the only fort avalable for section of the game
So when y'all think he will discover Forts?
Do... the people keep moving the one tower forward? How the hell is this thing still in range after the first few regions are conquered?

Love this game!
this is similar to forts and Pixel Starships
TBH this seems like a version of forts without the building but with troop management. It just does not seem as fun as forts IMHO.
TBH, this is the kind of game I’d play on my tablet until started asking me for too much money. Seems mindless, but in a good way.
the game doesn't have pay to win
You defenetely should try "Forts" game
loved the video..its just reverse oni
FTL meets Worms
Perhaps you should try Forts

Am I overly sensitive feeling uncomfortable with the unpleasantly intrusive nazi symbolism?
This looks like FTL
So it's... Forts... but bad?
So it's FTL but set in WW2 Europe
Fine
I dont like how he pronounces archon😂
cannon fodder 1995
War, never been so much fun.

rectum is latin for right? LMFAO

reminds me of playing ftl but a little more interesting
