I always wanted to have a 2nd Gen. Camaro since I first visited the USA the first time in 1990 as an 18 year old boy. I was fascinated by the looks, in my mind they were the coolest looking cars ever - but to get one in Germany was basically impossible for a young dude with no money. After 33 years I finally could fulfill my dream and now I´m the proud owner of a beautiful 1979 Camaro. Just looking at it sitting in the garage gives me a smile every time!

My first car was a 77 Camaro Type LT Rally Sport, and I really liked that car. I went on to purchase a 94 Z28, a 2010 LT1, and I currently own a 2010 SS. All these cars were manual transmissions. I hated the 98 facelift and felt it eventually led to the first cancelation. Likewise with the 6th Gen, I feel the front end styling got worse every year, and now it's gone once again. I'll be keeping my 2010 SS until the day I can no longer drive!!!

As an owner of a 3rd gen Camaro Z28 as well as a 5th gen Mustang GT, the discontinuation of the Camaro is terrible news. This current generation of Camaro is such a fantastic vehicle, it's mind-blowing to me that anyone looking for a serious performance car in this range would buy anything else. Congratulations to the smart ones that did. The rest of you, ehh not so much I think. In the meantime enjoy the view of the Camaro's taillights and exhaust fumes.

The 3rd gen Camaro was such a beautiful design. I still love it. GM made a huge mistake in building the cars as inexpensively as possible, hoping to make it back on constant repairs. I had a friend who bought a silver iroc z in 1986, within the year he stated it was in the repair shop more than it was out, and offered to sell it for free just to take over the monthly payments. Maybe one of the many modern custom car shops will take it upon themselves to recreate this in a quality way. It'd be great to tear up a racetrack with this design and a true race car underneath, like the old trans am cars. And be able to take it to the grocery store just for fun.

The Mustang sports car, the Beatles Pop Band and the Rolling Stones Rock Band all arrived the same year...WOW!
We went to the '64 Fair. I bought a '69 Mach 1 428cj 6 years later in 1970. I dreamed about a Mustang for 6 years. My brother wasn't as excited. He bought a new '68 Camaro RS 327C.I.D.
In comparison, the handling and braking on my 70 Mach 1 were terrible. But it was fast. The interior was awesome. The chin spoiler, rear tail wing, rear window louvers and hood pins were definitely cool and head turning. But l was much happier trading it for an AMC 1972 AMX Javelin 401C.I.D., which l kept for 175,000 miles.

The Z/28 and the legendary dz302, the COPO and yenko 427 big blocks, and the rarest of them all the 69 produced 1969 ZL1 all aluminum 427 big block and probably the baddest muscle car ever made with the hemi cuda. My first car i bought on my own when i was 21 was a 1998 RS Camaro with the t-tops (2004 when I bought it, older car)... Someone hit me and it was totaled out... Then years later I bought a 2011 Camaro RS.. dont care for drop tops, so I have a sunroof... But it was 6yrs old when i bought it, BUT it only had 42k miles on it... Now she has about 140k miles on it... Love my Camero. I would get another one, but I have 3 mini me's and a hubby..lol we can't fit in it... Well me and the kids lol and its tight. We have a family SUV (which is dad's , but he has his sports car too 2004 ford mustang gt anniversary edition or something) but i actually want a Dodge Durango RT have to get 3 row 😂 anyways.. i wish they would have came back out with the t-tops ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

i had a 89 camaro RS 305 that i swapped in a 350 (wished i still had it) and a 1996 Z28. they are fun cars, kind of sad to see it go again. i have 2 kids now, so i have something with a bigger back seat. i have a subaru crosstrek AND i have a 2003 bonneville SSEi, still has a big enough back seat. you cant take all my toys away LOL. the bonneville has the usual pulley swap, PCM themostat deal. its' almost as quick as my Z28. i would love to own another 3rd or 4th gen but it seems like even they are creeping up in price, and this economy is hot garage. cant afford to do anything anymore.

First off Grest posting just love cars , n pickups and you put it all together and even add the commercial of that time too. 👍👍👍👍
Back in the early '80's I bought a '64 1/2 real cheap , but it had been turned into a Tijuana special , was in process of trying to put it back like new when I sold it to help out the family , I really didn't need the car it was just a project for me..
Didn't they have T-Tops in the '80's...?? For some reason I'm thinking they did but I may be wrong. They just don't seem to make cars today that had the style the cars had from the 60's --> 80's did they just looked kool 😎..
Thanks again for the posting 👍😎🍻✌️👋

The camaro had t-tops in the 70-2000’s. The t-top was introduced as an alternative to convertibles. Detroit got away from factory convertibles in the 70s due to government regulations with crash testing. The government wanted to introduce tougher roll over standards, which convertibles could never pass. T-tops were a work around that. The Firebird, Mustang and a few other cars that should had convertibles came with t-tops. The government regulation got nixed at the last minute and t-tops had become popular so they kept making them. Plus they were cheaper and easier to build than convertibles. It wasn’t until the late 80s that convertibles returned from the factory. Prior to that there were companies that would turn your car into a convertible. By the mid 80s, the factory was hiring them to make official convertibles. By the late 80s convertibles were done at the factory.

WOW ...!! Kool and thanks for sharing that.. I do know if you do a convertible job yourself it weakens the structure of the car not so bad if it had a frame but the unibody came into production in the late 70's and if you did that to a unibody the car would fold up in the middle when wrecked.. I learned about unibodys first hand by building hot rod out of 72 Vega dropped in 350srt block and well it twisted body had to crawl in n out of windows eventually 🤣🤣🤣.. Good speaking with you and for sharing 😎🍻✌️👋
