I used to commute on the 50cc and later the 90cc version of this in 1968-1973 in London saving money versus the train. I was a 20 something young exec then. I’m 81 now. They were great machines and so reliable and easy to ride.

You got 10 years on me phb. I was 14 in 1969 when I got my Honda 90. My folks didn't really have the money but I pitched such a fit (I was brainless) that they scratched up $300 somehow, with helmet thrown in. We lived on a hill and after years of pulling that thing with my bike when nearly home that fine day I stopped midway on the hill and then slowly let out the clutch to let the thing easily drag me on home. Never got the thing over 45mph and rode it EVERYWHERE at all hours. With Naugahyde leather jacket I thought I was some kinda Hecks Angel! Wow!!!
Backing up a bit...earlier... Less see, I guess I was in the 8th or 9thth grade when I got my motorcycle.... Well, back in the 7th I made my first set of friends in high school. One of them was named Alice. Alice was a boy...but nothing funny about him...He had a high pitched voice so he got the nickname........Anyway Alice had a Honda 50. He would ride over to my house to pick me up and I spent a LOT of time at his house....Mostly....to ride his Honda 50. I was head over heels in love with the thing. I liked Alice too...but I REALLY liked his ride. So I guess you can see when I eventually got my 90 that I felt myself vastly superior to the piddly 90. Looking back both were beautiful machines.

I had one 50cc Honda Cub, which I think should be its 1st model in the early 1960s. Very cheap as compared to motorcycles of the West. Very durable, cheap to operate and maintain. Honda became a trusted brand after that

These bikes are very convenient for local usage as well as for younger gen ladies. In India there was m 80 which is apparently very similar but 2 stroke . Also herohonda had street - 100 . Both these vehicles where very good. Even now , if Honda cub is introduced in India, definitly the younger generations will accept it - especially the lady commuters are increasing day- by day.

Indians got different taste. They see look than work now. It won't be introduced in india as a geared vehicle. If it could change gear without clutch option then it may workable. Today scooter is so popular a d many brands in market. Ladies won't go for this product. Younger generation won't accept it. People like me like it love it but it won't make a good business 😊

My cousin bought this Cub in 1984 , red & beige in B'lore , I drove it as a teen , it had hand clutch & gears , it gave good gas milage , later in a year he bought the new Honda Hero 4 stroke engine , that was a cool M/c .

I had the 70 in 1976, I rode it for 9 hours flat out until the piston seized. Let it cool down and off it went - a bit of piston slap but otherwise fine.

A wonderful bike! A commuter bike that just anybody can drive and that gives you the most opportunity to get out of an accident with little injury because the tank is under the seat and not between your knees. It has an automatic clutch which makes it easy to drive. The engine is the same as the Dream and the Wave: almost seventy kilometers on one (1) liter of gasoline!! I hope Honda will never stop building these bikes and that one can order one in any country. I am very happy this one is still without the disk brake because I had two very bad accidents when I was driving a motorbike with a disk brake. I love this bike.

We called it the crunch. ( with automatic clutch ). I had the green 50 cc past my test on a yellow 70 cc. Love it. Perfect bike when you lived in the countryside with one shoppers bus a week

I rode my first motocycle, a 1968 Honda 50 step-thru , at 7 years old. At the moment I have 5 bikes. One of them is a 2010 Glint Wave Blue Honda Fury, but at 62 years old now I realize that that Honda 50 will probably be the Coolest bike I was ever associated with. In early seventies, one company Pearl Yamaha of Ludhiana used to assemble this bike in 50 cc and 75 cc. Marvelous vehicle.
Bajaj also manufactured same Vehicle M-50 but stopped now.

Similar replica was the Bajaj M80 in India.And then the 4 stroke version was M80 Major.
For some reasons Bajaj stopped making them. But if re introduced by Honda or Bajaj in EV avatar it will sell
