Yeah man, it’s pretty good. I’m assuming you’re a Marine based on your UA-cam name, it definitely performed better than our Digital woodland in this particular environment.
No, haven't earned the title yet. I will as soon as I'm outta high school though, already been talking to the recruiter and he's gonna get me squared away once I'm seventeen.... I just thought it was a cool UA-cam name
I'll be honest, I was impressed. In service, like most, I was trained to be able to spot those in camouflage in their environment and I will admit, the A TACS FG was more difficult to spot. Good show.
Great vids. I'm a Brit, and i love my A tacs jacket. I find this pattern works at it's best in early morning, when colours are more muted. My mate has told me how hard it is for him to see me, even when I'm standing upright, moving slowly towards him through fairly open woodland,
Wow, that is the most effective I've seen in terms of being able to blend in shadow, and it's even better in bright patches. I'm glad I chose that pattern for my gear. Thanks bro.
Works very well at a distance. I have just bought a A-Tacs poncho and it's to use when camping in open fealds or up grassy mountains (if i have no choice to conceal myself) I use 4 bungees, 1 in each corner and put a pole at one side, I use additional pegs/stakes if needed in high winds or peg/stake the foot/wind side straight in to the ground. This pattern will be perfect.
I've liked the A-TACS pattern since i first saw it. Though I prefer the AU over the FG pattern, the FG performs really well and I was surprised how well it did during the winter. If you get a chance please do a summer video for the A-TACS AU pattern I'm curious as to how well it would perform in the summer months.
A TACS AG just blew me away it's definitely one of the best patterns to wear in a green vegetated environment. To me it's kinda like an updated improved version of KLMK, in my opinion it's more effective than Marpat, Cardpat, and Multicam combined and on top of that it appears to be effective at all distances it doesn't really black blob the only time it was really "dark" was when you were in the shadows. But an awesome video as usual keep up the good work and keep the camo coming.
Thanks brother, speaking of KLMK I just had a beret in that pattern out there the other day when I was filming the Russian Berezka pattern. KLMK is spot on matching the foliage, I need to get my hands on a complete uniform.
Please don't take this as a negative comment, it's just observation on my part. When comparing your test of both ATACS-FG and German Flecktarn, the main difference in the tests, were that you appeared to make far better use of cover when demonstrating the Flecktarn. Whereas when demonstrating the ATACS pattern, you appear to be setting it up to fail. However, both patterns seem to perform equally well when used in their natural environment, rendering you the wearer virtually invisible. Once in the open however, in my opinion, the ATACS pattern did outperform the Flecktarn. Mainly due (again from my perspective) to the darkness of the German camo.
Thread some frayed out different length green brown and tan jute strips through the loops in your boonie hat and it would’ve rendered you damn near invisible in every instance. Great videos and it’s made me rethink my next camo choice.
hi, watched both atacs vids, i am a dedicated brit dpm fan, but understand its limitations like most camo patterns have, but i have to say this atac fg is very impressive, much better than multi cam or the new brit mtp, thanks for making the vids, very interesting and well made they are too, cheers, dave
a few of us went out in the Pacific NorthWest drills and one guy had on ATAC's. OMG....I was so in love with it..it was perfect for the area we were in vs my multicam. Your video also proves it too with the telling command of Green all around you. thanks for the share.
Fg is like a multiterrain pattern wich has its best in the green and mixed terrain But also works Well enough in winter or arid terrain; exactly the opposite of multicam. The way It works with different light conditions impressed me.
I think A-TACS is the best camo because I noticed from watching a lot of your videos that it never looks black or too dark like alot of other camos tend to do, the only thing negative about the camo is that it is not NIR compliant.
Another great video! It really is great to see practical use of all these patterns in the field to see what is effective. Great pattern that is pretty versatile.
In my opinion. ATAC’s is absolutely the best modern camo available to anyone. It historically steals from the Waffen-SS ‘blurred edge’ design where individual shapes are more recognized by the human eye. When their is a ‘blurred edge’, colors, shapes, sizes, textures is severely difficult to pick out especially in the shade. MOST IMPORTANTLY like we were taught in the USMC, their is no black in nature. Again making this camo more fluid in surrounding vegetation.
Many thanks for this excellent series of videos! The ATACS FG doesn't seem to work particularly well, as it is 'too green' for the Autumn environment, and 'not green enough' for the Spring/Summer. One of your videos examined the old German '44-dot' came pattern, and I would very much like to see some more of those old German patterns, such as the various 'oak leaf' smocks, and considering your location, even the 'palm tree' camo system might work very well in a Spring/Summer vegetated environment.....
+Eric Husher It works really nice in Autumn. Check it out in part I vide. The deal with A-TACS is that the patten is really blured, so it works really good even at short distances. I had the same feelings like you, for as long as I did not tried it on myself. Since this, I love this pattern.
I'm so jealous seeing all of that greenout down there - still waiting on greenout here in Indiana. I loved this pattern when you tested it a couple weeks ago; the mostly tan environment had only a bit of green, which is what this pattern brings to the table. Now that your area has hit greenout, the tans have been replaced with green leaving your area mostly gray and green; the pattern loses its effectiveness, in my opinion. I honestly think OD's would have performed better. I still have to back the classic Woodland pattern or Realtree's XtraGreen in such a bright environment. Keep it up.
Thanks man…..trust me, you’ll get the “green out” soon enough, as well as all the mosquitoes, ticks, poison ivy/oak, snakes, and spiders that go with it.
it seems to work better against deadfall and humus than the bright green of the new spring foliage, it also gives the same reflection as bark... which i dont really mind because it is most effective where it should be, when someone is low to the ground... or behind cover... and it belds in nicely when there is foliage in front of it... where it does not blend in much at all us during walking around
Part 1 and two, both patterns amazing, hard to find both in direct sunlight and shadow. Even when moving this would be very effective both deer, two legged and four. I can see why seals like it.
I my opinion this is the best one overall My only critique on your videos would be to do the majority of them at a realistic distance. About 30-50 meters at least. A lot of people always say a camo is too dark or too bland but we all know this isn't the movies and you'd NEVER get this close to the enemy without getting shot at. This camo works well. The sunlight breaks it up nicely. Depending on the sunlight and distance it looks like tree bark, dry grass, or slightly grassy dirt. which are the more realistic things you'll be hiding behind: either by a hard tree for cover, or low to the dirt in a prone position. Most definitely not (or at least very very rarely) against a leafy green backdrop; you'd be hiding BEHIND the leafy greens. ANY camo will give the user away when he's at CLOSE RANGE & MOVING; especially with a leafy green backdrop behind him. Only ones who would be this close to the enemy would be a Recon unit. And they definitely would NOT be moving if they were this close to the bad guys. they'd be still as a rabbit. If you're gonna test the camo at these close distances then I believe you have to do a more realistic scenario. The camera-work should: 1. Mimic the enemy moving and trying to spot you from a static position. 2. Show you moving left to right at medium distance as someone trying to be sneaky but accidently exposing themselves to an enemy patrol lying in ambush. 3. (If you're going to be moving towards the camera) Have the camouflage wearer move stealthily as if trying to sneak onto a known enemy position.
All of these scenes are generally filmed between 30 to 50m, so I’m not quite sure what you meant by that. To be technical most patterns are designed to be effective at the 100-300m range since that is the range in which most small arms engagements take place. However, it would be pointless for me to film such distances because there is no way you could see me on film at that that kind of range. The purpose in the way I film each scene is to start out as a stationary shot to give the viewer the chance to see what the pattern looks like stationary in the environment. These videos are not showing tactics in regards to the utilization of cover, they’re meant to show the viewer what the individual pattern looks like in this environment and by me being behind too much foliage eliminates a person’s ability to see how well the pattern blends with the environment. The second part of each scene is to leave the stationary position to give the viewer an idea on how the pattern looks on the move. If you’re looking for videos are that are more combat oriented and the individual is using more cover and concealment in each scene, watch my OPFOR series videos, you can find them in the OPFOR playlist on my channel.
***** i'm just saying you can't give the people what they want. You gotta give them what they'll get. Some camos look effective up close but up close isn't realistic; at a more realistic (further) distance they end up looking like a Green Ivan silhouette blob of brown, green, or tan. you can only get too close before it's too close for comfort. You can only get in so close to the enemy (camera) walking fully erect before the enemy opens up on you. Anything closer is just a diservice to the camo and not giving it an honest portrayal. Just like when civilians see actual war footage and end up asking stupid questions like "where's the bad guys? they aint even shooting at anything." No shit you can't see them, they're hiding! All because they've seen too many movies. Their perception of what's real and what isn't real, what's effective and what isn't effective, is scewed. But you do have a point. A video doesn't capture the same light and quality you see with your own 2 eyes.
I love this camo, but have to admit In a few frames I had spotted you a few times than I should have, I dunno if it's because my mindset is in the state where I am looking for you on the screen, but I suppose it makes sense being the point of the video...
Seems to work better in your part 1 with the dead vegetation. It was almost like the Camo was to lite tan/brown washed out faded for the bright greens. The Camo worked best near tree trunks, dirt and dead vegetation IMO.
Very nice pattern and seems pretty effective. Looks like it would work well in Florida seeing as it's green for most of the year. Let's see coyote tan in a vegetative environment! And thank you for putting up all these great videos
Actually AOR2 doesn't seem to be half as bad as ATACS-FG. My personal favorite (in northern scandinavian foliage) is by far my alpha green PCU-clone though! Works incredibly well everywhere except in the dark when it seems to light up in certain conditions.
ATACS-FG was our teams cammo. and it was the best cammo ever.. (my opinion) but i created my own team and we wear contractor outfits, tan pants green top with green cap.. it works quite well actually. Brent0331 they came out with ATACS-FG gear now just a few months ago.. i wish you were wearing the gear as well in the video.. but still this video shows the effectiveness of a goood cammo, but do not i repeat do not buy Propper- ATACS-FG, it fades. ive even tried washing them inside out, and hang dry, but still it fades quickly.. love your vids BRENT0331 KEEP IT UP.
Not totally sure how I came across this video, but I figure I'd give some feedback! This camouflage seems like it blends really well as far as color is concerned. I paused the video at every scene and looked for you, and when I found you it was almost always because of the shape of your hat, shoulders, and head. The same for your other videos as well. I suppose for full effectiveness you should add bits of the surrounding vegetation to break up your shape?
Yes, to plus up your camouflage the addition of either natural or artificial vegetation will help break up that extremely recognizable human outline. For the purposes of this video in demonstrating what the pattern alone looks like in this environment I do not use anything other than the pattern itself.
I wonder if it was just me or the guy at the sniper course I went to, but he wore this pattern religiously. I have to say that it looks okay, its not a fashion statement, but the camo did fade quite fast. Yet, the instructors usually spotted the guy wearing this pattern when he wore a ghillie TOG and pants with this pattern. I wore PenCott Greenzone for a small time and then the rest was PenCott Badlands, which in my opinion work better than anything out there. HE even said that it was given to him and he was going to get rid of it. I know I might get lots of thumbs down on this, but when your life would depend on how you blend in, thats something to think about. Again, just my opinion. It was a really good video just like the rest. If I could make one of my own, I would. I just need to get more time off.
Believe it or not...Badlands blends VERY well there..it works from central cali to san Bernardino (Joshua Tree) areas...I was stationed over at "the stumps" a while back. SEALS action gear has some on hand...a few others do too, its becoming more readily available.
What about a bug/head net to keep the bugs away and you in the shade ? And the Molle in the hat is great for holding misiltoe for the Christmas Holidays ! Just say NO to bright orange and red when out camping ! (The rest of us want to think we are the only ones out here !) Thank you for a Great Video ! tjl
First of all thanks for taking your time to make these videos. I'm new to airsoft and I haven't got a camo yet, just using OD green pants and a barrowed woodlands shirt. I live in the Caribbean, where the landscape goes from rain forest to very dry or even desert. Which pattern would you recommend? The people I play with have multicam and universal but I don't like either. I like the classic tiger stripes, also the ATACS or ATACS FG. I was thinking of trying the ASAT but I've only seen it on videos or pictures. Do you think a 3D leafy suit would be a good idea? Sorry for the long post and thank you for any input that you can give.
Brent0331 Yeah I have noticed. I think I am sold on the A-TAC gear. I love how simple it looks. Really just looks like someone tie-dyed the pants in camo colors.
Man I literally bought the pants this patter and and multicam top. They didn't have my size in multicam pants and didn't have my size in the atacs top. This is 100 pretty much 50$ I can save but. If you had to pick one out of this or multicam what would it be. I have sets of original woodland, 3 color desert, vietnam ere tiger stripe (no thick black paint strokes...tiger stripe products has the closest in my opinion mine is propper). But im thinking that multicam is very very hard to beat in dying grass. (Green and tan).. just hard to pick man. Thanks for everything Brent.
leaddispenser9 Well brother, sounds like you have an article of clothing for each of the patterns you are considering. Take them out to the environment your going to be running around in and see which one blends in better. That's what I do, I don't stick to any one pattern, I pick 3 or 4 patterns that I think will be the most effective and then conduct my own tests to see which one seems to blend in better.
***** appreciate it man.. I guess I'll go with both types.. can't pick. And I've done exactly what you said. And took pictures. However I have noticed the atacs works well in the shade as well. Obviously clothing becomes darker but for some reason it works better then most others. Thanks again for your replies. I think I speak for everyone that we all appreciate your time and effort.
Brent...really enjoy the channel! I'm in TX as well Southeast. What would you reccomended for a year round camo? I was thinking of going with this pattern. Thanks! 1*
Depends on your environment. Multicam is for more of an Urban environment. In Afghanistan there are forests and greenery and occansional brush here and there. Overall it's desert and very dusty. So the it's much dimmer of a camp. Unless you get it brand spanking new. It's just not for a forest environment. Jungle yes, dessert yes, woodland no.
Great video as the other tests are too. Also one of my favorite patterns out there. The other is PenCott ( You should get that to test too ). Now, a question, what kind of face paint You use to match the clothing? Is it some of the good old paint sets or is there something new, cause the camo patterns tend to grow like mushrooms after the rain lately.
Thanks man, nothing special on the face paint. Just standard woodland colors in a camo compact. I have a couple sticks too that have loam in it that's a little bit darker green.
THATS BADASS, been looking into multicam tropic, and saw these bad boys, and wanted to compare, i was trying to find you about 30sec in and was like "WTF WTF WHERE IS HE I CANT SEE HIM, FUCK ID BE DEAD ALREADY", lol literally what i said lol
***** Its too hard for me to get and way too expensive for my to pick up. I put it in the same category as the new MultiCam patterns and the Kryptek stuff. I'm not going to spend that kind of money trying to acquire those patterns until they come down in price.
+Tim Lipinski I don't have that capability. When I am around equipment like that I'm working in an official capacity and certainly can't be making UA-cam videos.
Thank you very much for wonderful work! you have interesting tests! Healthily! It is VERY desirable to look the test of camouflage(SURPAT) of Russian Federal Security Service. I think it will be interesting to very many people.Maybe it?
Yeah man, I think you’re right. Seeing pictures of it I think it would preform pretty good too. Unfortunately it would be pretty expensive for me to obtain a set of it. Maybe down the road after I get through the rest of the patterns I have lined up I’ll try to find some at a good price.
***** Thank you! Let's wait! Did you do a test pattern Russian army "Digital." His lot is sold at Ebey and it is not very expensive. Very interesting to see the Russian samples.
***** Thank you very much! I missed this video! Very interesting! But many tests birch. Test new Russian army camouflage "digital" is not anywhere. If it is possible to supplement their collection and show us its effectiveness will be very grateful to you!
Hey Brent just made my first video testing atacs fg in the northwest. I'm planning on doing a similar series to your camouflage effectiveness only in my area. Check it out if you like
A TACS FG is one of my favorite patterns, not only because it's extremely effective but also because it resembles the Star Wars camo.
Has to be one of the most effective patterns I've ever seen for a very lush wooded area with lots of grass
MastiffOutdoors
So did you earn the title mate?
@@srbutrej01 seems like he just plays airsoft
@@MastiffTacticalupdate?
Your silhouette gives you away in a lot of these, but otherwise I think this camo works very well. Better than MultiGlam IMO
4:22 definitely didn't catch that.. caught me by surprise lol. Great job. Thanks for posting.

@Missouri Mongoose yeah I learned that about 5 years ago
Fg is like a multiterrain pattern wich has its best in the green and mixed terrain But also works Well enough in winter or arid terrain; exactly the opposite of multicam. The way It works with different light conditions impressed me.
As a plus It seems less "tactical" so its "ugliness" is, in fact one of its strong points.
Not to be weird, but if I close my eyes the sound of walking through the woods puts me to sleep
BrentASMR
I think A-TACS is the best camo because I noticed from watching a lot of your videos that it never looks black or too dark like alot of other camos tend to do, the only thing negative about the camo is that it is not NIR compliant.
but it is NIR compliant from sources like Tpc
All that light on those leaves makes me think back to your Berezka KLMK silver leaf videom.
Lovin the Atacs fg though. Good work.
I'm amazed that the brighter greens are actually better at concealment than the more common patterns. This appears to be too dark for most areas.

hi Brent0331 some time ago last year. I asked atacs-fg evaluation. Then I said. the best is Olive on spring. but atacs-fg also fits perfectly
Can't wait for his Multicam Tropic vid. Fantastic work man.

This over CADPAT in this environment for sure. Awesome video keep em up.
Glad I added this camo to my gear options, works very well
Yeah, I’m pretty impressed with it.
thank you for this test.
When a test of A-TACS IX ???
Great October pattern for N. Central IA. Saw the ladderstand at 4:28 but didn't see you lying beneath it on the embankment. Good job on the vid.
Thanks
Atacs FG is good... but in the green grass I think the ACU/UCP dyed green worked better.
Very nice pattern and seems pretty effective. Looks like it would work well in Florida seeing as it's green for most of the year. Let's see coyote tan in a vegetative environment!
And thank you for putting up all these great videos
Thank you for watching.
Extremely Effective. Beats multi cam hands down
Seems to work the best so far for your environment.
I’m pretty impressed with it.
I’m digging that M16A4.
I am going to buy a Spetsnaz A-TACS FG Chest Rig and water bladder holder next month from Russia.I can't seem to find one made in the U.S.
I absolutely love this camo.
The problem I see with atacs is that it fails to break up the general shape of a human
dont they all lol
Actually AOR2 doesn't seem to be half as bad as ATACS-FG. My personal favorite (in northern scandinavian foliage) is by far my alpha green PCU-clone though! Works incredibly well everywhere except in the dark when it seems to light up in certain conditions.
@@Corle0ne I'm really liking AOR2. It's got the right balance of colors and disruptive pattern.
@@fakecubed in what area of the world and what latitude?
Corle0ne I don’t own any. I’m referring to the video in this series. It performed, to my eyes, better than just about everything.
Needs some higher contrasting element, to break up the shape of the soldier.
The ATAC FG work the same to ERDL Lowland
I like the color and how it blends in but up close it’s not as pretty as multi cam, all terrain tiger and atacs ix in my opinion.
Thanks brother.
Right on dude. U finally got some FG. I like this camo a lot. I guess it reminds me of combloc camo that's why. Lol
I got Berezka coming up soon brother, I just have to edit it. Just for your combloc ass!
Oh yeaaaah.
redcommander81 The Sportsmansguide, I'm not sure if they have any left though.
Awesome Awesome! Good Camo!
It may looks like a dirty rag to some, but it's probably the most effective camo out there.
SEALS action gear has some on hand...a few others do too, its becoming more readily available.
ya this stuff works man alittle less in the brigt zone but where you should be poopin and snoopin great stuff
Pretty effective I'd say, one of my top patterns in my mind.
affirative
What about a bug/head net to keep the bugs away and you in the shade ? And the Molle in the hat is great for holding misiltoe for the Christmas Holidays ! Just say NO to bright orange and red when out camping ! (The rest of us want to think we are the only ones out here !) Thank you for a Great Video ! tjl
A TACS is not bad till i saw Hyde Definitions PenCott Geenzone which blew me away !
We will have a video on that in the very near future.
Thats great !
i love the M16 paint job !
Thanks man.
Great video, what camouflage pattern can you recommend for me, I live in the Gulf Coastal Plains of Texas...
I need a tent and pack in this pattern.
I wold like to see ASAT camo used.
My favorite pattern
Hey Brent. Rade again. What do you think of the Atacs?
I like it quiet a bit. Might get Atac instead of the RDF.
I love the A-TACs utilities, if you notice I wear it a lot in my military instructional videos.
Brent0331 Yeah I have noticed. I think I am sold on the A-TAC gear. I love how simple it looks. Really just looks like someone tie-dyed the pants in camo colors.
Woodland is the worst I've seen yet, but this one blends so well...
Thanks! 1*
This is a great pattern for our spring and summer here in Texas. If you get the AU variant to compliment in the winter/fall you're set.
ok.... ok why am I still using Multicam for airsoft now seriously!!!! This is a shut up up and take my money thing now.
Jungle yes, dessert yes, woodland no.
really liking this camo,
thanks for the video,
Thanks for watching brother.
Are you going to test A TACS AU in Spring as well? I'm curious if it can hold up year-round.
Brent0331 wouldn't A-TACS FG also work during summer season in the wilderness?
Great video, I as well live in Texas, in the coastal region, I'm considering this pattern, would this pattern work in subtropical grassland terrain..
I think so.
***** Cool. Thanks.
And in grassy open invironments it is easily silhouetted
THATS BADASS, been looking into multicam tropic, and saw these bad boys, and wanted to compare, i was trying to find you about 30sec in and was like "WTF WTF WHERE IS HE I CANT SEE HIM, FUCK ID BE DEAD ALREADY", lol literally what i said lol
Good deal. I like ATACS FG, its one my favorite go to patterns in the spring.
Do you have any plans to make a vid using Pencott Greenzone? I would like to see that.
***** Its too hard for me to get and way too expensive for my to pick up. I put it in the same category as the new MultiCam patterns and the Kryptek stuff. I'm not going to spend that kind of money trying to acquire those patterns until they come down in price.
*****
Roger that. I sure like your videos man. Keep up the good work.
Thanks brother
better than before :D
New camera ?
works well with slight cover. Would you be able to test ASAT camo?
I don't have any to test.
Can you test with Night Vision and Thermal Vision ? Thank you again for the Great Video ? tjl
+Tim Lipinski I don't have that capability. When I am around equipment like that I'm working in an official capacity and certainly can't be making UA-cam videos.
If you can please do kryptek family and the new multicam family and aor2 i know these patterns are expencive.
Yeah man, they just cost too much. I’d rather spend the money on guns & ammunition.
Awesome. .cool vid.
Thanks man.
Looked very tan to me. Maybe better during late spring/early fall
Russian Berezka Effectiveness
***** Thank you very much! I missed this video! Very interesting! But many tests birch. Test new Russian army camouflage "digital" is not anywhere. If it is possible to supplement their collection and show us its effectiveness will be very grateful to you!
A-tacs x in the future?
You're just not green enough. Eyes get rapidly drawn to the non-green thing among a sea of green and then you start piecing together the silhouette.
needs bit real tree spray ons to help seem to make glance but not really nail you down
Can you do an AOR2 test?
I don’t currently have any.
I thinkk it contributes to "blobization", you start to build a dark blob in the middle of the forest which is easy to spot.
good Stuff
Hey Brent just made my first video testing atacs fg in the northwest. I'm planning on doing a similar series to your camouflage effectiveness only in my area. Check it out if you like
Hey man where do you get all your camos for so cheap?
Most from Sportsmansguide.com
o ok man thanks for all the great videos and you should make a nother camoing your gear and assecories
It's good but Pencott green zone is king.
wow atacs is extremly effective haha, you could mistake the person wearing it to be a tree or something if you do see it
Can u do black multicam at night
I feel like I'm playing I Spy
