In this video we look at the effectiveness of A-TACS IX camouflage pattern in a Woodland Environment during the spring/summer time (North Texas woods). This video will consist of numerous scenes where each will begin with a concealed stationary position (both with & without the use of vegetation), followed by a movement phase out of the initial position. The purpose of the video is to give the viewer a chance to see the individual camouflage pattern and how it looks and blends into this environment. There will be varying degrees of how much of the uniform will be exposed to the viewer. Some scenes will only expose little more than perhaps a hat, while other scenes will have virtually no vegetation covering. Watched both part 1 & 2. I believe it may be slightly more effective in winter but is very effective in the summer as well. This camo seems to transition in sunlight and shadow almost equally and mimic the environment.

This camo pattern would work pretty well here in the Northern Woods. I have noted that camo with grey colors in the green brown combo also works well as one's image simply stops with movement similar to when a whitetail stops running. Good video. Best
Amazing camo. A-TACS is making some good camo. Although, I feel this camo works better in the fall. Probably would stick with the A-TACS FG camo in this case
@@yorkshirecoastadventures1657 It was *much* more effective in the autumn winter video. I spotted him instantly in most of these for spring and summer.
I think this pattern is more effective in the spring. I was able to see you more in the winter shoot. Although, I was just noticing a big lump on the ground so, maybe it's good in the winter too! Plus, after watching so many of your videos, I'm getting to know what to look for!
Well, actual testing once again proved to be exactly the opposite of what I was expecting. I thought it'll provide pretty much perfect blending in, but for some reason the camouflage resulted too *dark* (???) or pale for the environment. I was able to spot you quite easier than on most your other videos, actually instant spotting on most scenes. I'm surprised. In a bad way.
Man it looks to me like an updated version of the Vietnam tiger stripe pattern the SF would wear. Just more digital. Especially up close. Like it when you take a shot while we're trying to find you. Lol makes it more interesting. Thanks for all you do and hope you had a great memorial day Marine. Semper Fi
I personally think the Atacs AU is the best, in the propper series of camo. Light transitions from dark or from light are excellent, the pattern is more open so it prevents that digitized unnatural look. Add a little foliage in spots and mine really is awesome. Like just a small mound, stump, thicket of deadfall, etc. Plus is still works good in all of the seasons, not just open enviroments.
In this setting it looks not bad. In my area good old woodland is probably the best :) Thank you Brent for a great material - great as usual I will add. Greetings brother!
Ok, commented first before having seen your final comments in this video. I have seen a part of the Part 1 video, and I must say, it is difficult to determine, in what type of environment the IX is most effective. It works great in both, but in slightly different ways, as I see it. If one take a look at the Fall/ winter environment, it has almost no real green colors in it, but still a lot of dark colors that is brown and so, also on the naked tree trunks and dry leaves on the ground, that actually are pretty close to the pale green and black colors in the IX, so on just a small distance, they match really good, and the break-up effect with the lighter colors in the IX gives the last bit to an almost perfect camouflage in that environment. In the summertime, it is a little different. Here you still have the tree trunks and so, but now also a lot of green. Next to a "cover" of green leaves, the IX is a little too pale green and with black and light colors in it too, to blend really well, but in a more mixed environment, under the tree tops and with green vegetation here and there, but the ground and branches still visible, the IX really performs great, because the green vegetation sort of reflect some kind of green light out in the surroundings, so everything looks a little bit "green-ish" and in combination with the "non-green" parts, like the earth, branches and tree trunks, that gives a really good color match for this camo also in the summer environment. That is how I see it at least, trying to put words on it. Sometimes, variations of green seems to be able to play a trick or two with the eye. I remember the Russian/ Soviet KZS suit video in wintertime. It is mostly dark green, with pale yellow (or so ) spots on it, but still it worked really good against the brown background in winter, because it almost turned "brown-ish" itself at a certain distance. Quite interesting effect actually. Some kind of the same here with the IX in winter time. Really good camouflage I think. :o)
Outstanding Gunny!!! Awesome vid. With Bruce n Dimitri ,thanks again, Hope your Memorial Day Weekend went well, a Day that will Never Be Forgotten!!! Rrahh!!! 0311 S/F..
seems to work incredibly well in the prone, not nearly as much against the lush backdrops. Still solid all around though. Seems like it would work well in the scrubbier parts of Florida
Works well when prone, but to me it seems like its just too "rock coloured"/greyish when crouched or standing and not to a large degree behind concealment, i also think that it doesnt break the human outline that well. But its far from bad for being intermediate/transitionary/allround, just gotta know where the strengths are, and i think to fully find out its time to get you into an urban environment. :P
Thanks for both of the IX videos. I live in upstate SC which is a bit more hilly, and has a lot of exposed granite. Other than that, when it comes to vegetation and underbrush density your area matches it pretty well, although the greens can be a little darker, and there are lots of stands of hardwoods that give way to stands of pine and cedar. A-TACS FG is way too light for here, AU looks so much like some of the exposed soil (not to mention the fact we have mounds of red clay just barely covering granite up-thrusts) that regardless of season it just looks like another lump in the ground. I've owned IX since it first hit the market, but I wondered how well it would work here, but your environment is close enough that If I had to choose one, it would literally be a toss up between AU and IX. As for ACU, it's mostly useless here, except we do have some shrubs that are so close in color that if someone in ACU was mixed in with that... well... bad day all around. Still, one of the most common patterns in use here during hunting season is the old standard M-81 woodland. The Greens are the right color, the brown and tan match the local vegetation, and the black just blends into the shadows cast by all of the big ass trees. And just as an aside, this Army Engineer hates to say it, but MARPAT blends in pretty well with the leaf litter and such. I'm glad you aren't one of those who believes that one pattern fits all. Season, terrain, vegetation color, nd even how you are going to use it... be it closer to the ground or in a tree or what have you. All of those need to be taken into account. Excellent video as always.
Trust me. I love camo patterns. Believe it or not they actually soothe my mind and eyes at times. It's not any effort at all to watch your vides, 'cause like a lot of your other viewers I'm playing "Where's Brent". :-) Thank you for all of the time and effort you put in.
Huh, to my great surprise, I had a much harder time spotting you in winter. In this season I spotted you quite easily. Comes across as too dark, and too gray to truly blend in and hide your silhouette.
You know what's funny? I was thinking about buying A-TACS iX for airsofting in North Texas. I clicked on this video to help me decide. Where was it filmed? North Texas. Haha, it's perfect. Thanks, man.
It eats a lot of light, works real well in shadow, seems like a nice pine forest pattern. A wee bit dark, similar to an old school tiger stripe pattern, it needs deep shadows to work well. If I was choosing one of the Atacs patterns for this location and season, if it were an Atacs pattern, I would go with the FG. Really though, that Mossy Oak Obsession video has yet to meet it's match, for this time of year.
That was really effective in the green. As expected kind off. I remember, that it worked really!! well in the fall / winter time environment too (I was surprised actually) , so I would say, it is a quality alternative to Multicam and derivatives of that, for an universal camouflage pattern, should it be. Nice work as always, and nice day!!
Just bought some of this for carp(trash fish lol) fishing and shooting in the UK. Think I need some Rhodi cam for winter though. Incidentally,my Uncle served in the Rhodesia bush war and can't wait to show him your brush stroke vid.
@Brent0331 video request: can you do a camo effectiveness video in jeans and a white t-shirt and/or an orange jumpsuit? It would be an interesting baseline of comparison and to see what is hidden by vs. shows through foliage.
Excellent video and fantastic camo pattern. I tested it on a hillside are some time ago and I was surprised I couldn't find myself in the videos! I just can't help wonder what you have in the making right now... Respect from Argentina
If I'm not mistaken, the purpose of this camo is to be an intermediate to either fit transitional regions and seasons, with the AUX and FGX patterns coming along to serve as more region and season specific additions or bases to this pattern.
Gunter Straus so from I’m gathering is that this is the “base” camo. It allows you to buy gear and stuff in this pattern then swap between the AUX and FGX in clothing to be able to truly get the best out of it
Wow surprisingly easy to spot you in virtually every position and I’m just watching on my phone in 1080! It may be down to the hiding spots and maybe not the camo but almost every scene I was able to pick it out immediately
TRU-SPEC will realese FG-X and AU-X and also other urban and snow new patterns in Xtreme series. Hope you'll test first 2. Sorry for bad english, greetings from Russia. Cheers!
Thanks man, my format has always been though to just present the material and let the viewers decide. I like the format and I myself don't even know what it looks like until after I'm done editing the video.
really? I was expecting great results for this pattern, but it resulted extremely easy to spot on most scenes. I would even say it's one of the worst on that given environment.
Facundo Corradini You should watch Part 1. It was invisible. I said it's the best because it works even in an environment it isn't optimal for, unlike all the others.
Suprisingly disappointed in this pattern during this season. :( I watched the Fall/Winter and thought... oh, yeah! I wondered how effective it'd be in northern Michigan in the greener springtime? But after "seeing" it demonstrated, I'll pass. It was really, REALLY dark at all the wrong times. I really hate the army's digital UCP, but, a dirty set may have worked better than this ultra-dark "blob". Gonna have to go back and watch your Woodland BDUs in Sring to compare, that's my generation stuff. As always, top shelf video Gunny. KUDOS
Just re-watched the Woodlands BDU Springtime video for comparison. You always hear that the Woodlands would blob at a distance or just be too dark. And yes, caught in the open, in a grassy field, it "black-blobs" horribly. That being an exception, I'd have to say it worked better than the IX during this season. Both would disappear behind enough vegetation (but so would desert tan if the bush was thick enough). But for some reason, the IX was too green when laying on or "under" a dirt backdrop. Whereas the Woodlands browns would kick in. This is of course just my opinion and who the hell am I. Thanks again for the vid Brent.
I would like for you to do a little explanation on the pattern as well as express your opinion on the effectiveness of the pattern. I Would like to here your opinion on it because I do feel sometimes these video are kinda long. I watch your video because I am into airsoft and I started up a team. So this kinda helps me with deciding what camo we might decide on for the team as a whole and being able to quickly hear your opinion on it my weed out having to watch an entire video, in my case. it also could be like a quick summary or intro and then lead into the style you do now, a quick preview perhaps.
So my style from the start of me doing these has essentially been to just put it all out there and let the audience decide. I myself don't even know how its going to look until after the fact.
Brent never colors the viewers opinion. He holds his cards really close on his opinions, which is great. He is not selling any singular pattern, just demoing them. Where is your team operating?
Militia.uS.com out of Illinois. It's not doing much atm as we are mostly just trying to test the waters. Later if things go well we will pick cano patterns and go to milsim events.
Awesome camo pattern there bro thought it did really well in that environment. Sounds like that fucking bird was following u around too, I see that acog is still nice and black haha! John’s stuff looks awesome too, I’ll check with him again to see if he’s got that rhodie pattern in yet, thanks for sharing bro stay safe
Thanks brother, I'll have to see what's going on with that. I know Jeff was looking to send him some better quality condura material to make rigs with because john said the test sample material was not up to mil-spec standards. John's a good dude and won't put his stamp on anything unless its good to go. Jeff is a great dude too and wont settle for crap so he searches for good people who can print the right pattern on the right material.
4PITTS1BURGH2 Yes, he has desert, transitional, and woodland variants. Dimitri himself sent me some photos. I missed the woodland from a distance of about 2 feet. Crazy effective.
Dimitri only have sample sheets made in his patterns. Like Benjamin Fish said he's got multiple environments done but he doesn't have any uniforms printed in it from my understanding.
Brent0331 He doesn't have any uniforms from what he told me. I'm trying to get him and 0241 Tactical to work together. It'd be great to have a Pullover in each pattern.
You should test out Finnish M05! Ive been curious as to how well it works. Its kind of expensive, so Id love to see you test it out first! Its readily available on Varusteleka.
Brent0331 judging from colors on Pattern wouldn't A-TACS FGX Camouflage blend in/work well during Fall Season, Spring Season, Summer Season & Winter Season combined in the wilderness or not?
To me it's in the top 10 of the camos iv'e seen on this channel, very impressive. It does the same thing as Multican it looks more green then it is if surrounded gy green. But Pencott Greenzone eats any a-tacs for breakfast if you ask me...
Finest watch the desert Camo episode, Pencot and Atacs duel it out in a heavyweight match up. The Pencot Sandstorm does very well, but Atacs I judge, took the top spot by a dogs hair.

Thanks for your in depth comments brother.
Outstanding Gunny!!! Awesome vid. With Bruce n Dimitri ,thanks again, Hope your Memorial Day Weekend went well, a Day that will Never Be Forgotten!!! Rrahh!!! 0311 S/F..
Thanks brother, S/F devil.
It’s An excellent camouflage one of the best all rounders bro 👍🇺🇸🤝🇬🇧
seems to work incredibly well in the prone, not nearly as much against the lush backdrops.
Its will be also in FG-X for northern woodland and junlge and AU-X for desert and mountains. This on video is iX - intermediate.
In an urban environment, the only thing that works is every day clothes...
Same problem as most camo, it turns into a dark blob from far away. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks for watching brother.
Works really well in the more shadowy areas.
Great video showing the effectiveness of the camo. Extra points for the rifle shot. I would have gone down, I did not detect you!
Thanks brother, thanks for watching too.
Trust me. I love camo patterns. Believe it or not they actually soothe my mind and eyes at times. It's not any effort at all to watch your vides, 'cause like a lot of your other viewers I'm playing "Where's Brent". :-) Thank you for all of the time and effort you put in.
I think it blended in the best in the winter environment. Great vid man keep up the good work!
Thanks
Huh, to my great surprise, I had a much harder time spotting you in winter. In this season I spotted you quite easily. Comes across as too dark, and too gray to truly blend in and hide your silhouette.
You know what's funny? I was thinking about buying A-TACS iX for airsofting in North Texas. I clicked on this video to help me decide. Where was it filmed? North Texas. Haha, it's perfect. Thanks, man.
Nice, glad I could help man.
Thanks brother.
Just bought some of this for carp(trash fish lol) fishing and shooting in the UK. Think I need some Rhodi cam for winter though. Incidentally,my Uncle served in the Rhodesia bush war and can't wait to show him your brush stroke vid.
Like a manly version of where's Waldo.
Heck yeah brother. :P
Yeah 😄
Thanks my brother!! And as usual, iX worked superbly.
Thanks again for shipping those out for the videos. You guys can look forward to seeing MultiCam Tropic soon with one of John's rigs as well.
Welcome as always.
@@Brent0331 You read my mind. Was my 2nd go-to for N Tx woodlands. Trying to decide which to purchase. :)
Great video and effective camo pattern like the chest rig kit.
@Brent0331 video request: can you do a camo effectiveness video in jeans and a white t-shirt and/or an orange jumpsuit? It would be an interesting baseline of comparison and to see what is hidden by vs. shows through foliage.
A-TACS IX worked great
9:25 what
😂 🤷♂️ magic
Stfu u arent a weeb u dont watch anime and never been to japan bitch
@@SadboiSenpai ehhh? you think you're a bigger weeb than me!?
you probably are, if you've been to japan
It blends in well with the soil, but seems like it needs help from shadows for more green back grounds.
Good stuff Brent - solid as always.
Thanks man.
Another great video brent
Thanks brother.
Great video. I like that minimal chest rig.
Thanks brother.
Yeah, a sort of more subtle lizard pattern, good stuff!
Hello buddy 😁. The cam works great in the shared. Great video buddy. Thanks for sharing mate ATB Andy
Thanks brother.
Excellent video and fantastic camo pattern. I tested it on a hillside are some time ago and I was surprised I couldn't find myself in the videos! I just can't help wonder what you have in the making right now... Respect from Argentina
Nice one Brent! Might have to pick some of this up!
Thanks man.
It allows you to buy gear and stuff in this pattern then swap between the AUX and FGX in clothing to be able to truly get the best out of it
Thumbs up on this one Brent , interesting pattern . Thanks. Atb Darren
Appreciate it brother.
I saw the winter test and it did best for the winter
Wow surprisingly easy to spot you in virtually every position and I’m just watching on my phone in 1080! It may be down to the hiding spots and maybe not the camo but almost every scene I was able to pick it out immediately
QUESTION: What manufacturer did you purchase your camo from? Looking to outfit a few of us for hunting.
Great Video
I like the pattern for both fall/winter and spring/summer about equally ..... not a bad pattern at all
Thank you for your service bro, cool vid
Thanks brother.
Works good at summer and wintertime. In North America and Europe, A-Tacs ix is the real multicam.
Any camo can be ineffective if you're not still. That's what all of your videos prove. It's how you move vs camo.
thanks for the upload as always
would love to see FGX in this enviro
Looks like I'll have to get some different versions of this to try out!
This is my fav color. And I’ll say it Still good. All you need to do add live stuff to it
I like the normal A-TACS FG much more.
I have to disagree. Compared to his FG pt 2 video I had a much more difficult time spotting him here.
For my money, I think it is too dark. I think the British MTP works better in this environment.
TRU-SPEC will realese FG-X and AU-X and also other urban and snow new patterns in Xtreme series. Hope you'll test first 2. Sorry for bad english, greetings from Russia. Cheers!
Hey Brent, love your vids! I think one thing we all would want to know are your thoughts and opinions on the camos you test. Take care!
Thanks man, my format has always been though to just present the material and let the viewers decide. I like the format and I myself don't even know what it looks like until after I'm done editing the video.
How do you deal with the ticks when doing these videos? Thanks for another fun one!
Thanks for the reply! I've got the Lyme Disease so ticks are a big deal for me. May you be chigger free!
Tuck your pants into your boots.
I love this game
Easily the best camo you've ever tested.
Grigor Mortis: I agree, that ATACS IX is sick. That stuff would make you vanish in about any environment I think.
Not THE best I think, In my opinion Pencott series camos did slightly better job. But it's definitely one of the best.
Even the Rhodesian Brushstroke cammo?
Cool video omg
Suprisingly disappointed in this pattern during this season. :(
I watched the Fall/Winter and thought...
Thanks for your in depth comments brother.
Seemed more effective in the autumn winter video.
I wear the camouflage all the time
I would like for you to do a little explanation on the pattern as well as express your opinion on the effectiveness of the pattern.
Would love to see thier "FX" version in spring/summer
Hello dear Brent, can you compare these camouflages such as Atax IX and pencott Badlands under these conditions. Thank you in advance.
Think this one is the best year round....hands down
Awesome camo pattern there bro thought it did really well in that environment.
Brent0331 copy that
Good video as always. Will you do some camo effectiveness on some Asia countries as well?
I've done a few already, check out the camouflage effectiveness playlist I have on my channel.
Matches ground cover perfectly, put on a green leafy ghillie top and bam, ninja
Amazing video
!!!!!!!!
glasses prohibited?
Thanks, not prohibited.
Do you have plans on doing one with Dimitris pattern in the woods. Cause it kicked as in the Nevada background. Does he have a woodland version?
Dylan me too but I think it would just become a dark green or brown blob as it's made for the dark northern forests.
The summer camo is fairly bright, and i think itd work well in a heavily vegitated place like this.
Dylan yeah itd be great to see as there arent many reviews or test for it
Maybe in the future, well see.
One of my favorite patterns, I was a dummy for not buying a full jacket/ pants set. IX has been discontinued and I cannot find it anywhere.
Seems to work better in part 1, in the winter.
Seems to work fairly well. Is this used by any military?
Also, would you prefer this over the OCP?
Konrad Ford I’ve seen photos of Polish GROM using it mixed in with Multicam
Brap1243 GROM doesn't use ATACS, JWK does
Brent0331 judging from colors on Pattern wouldn't A-TACS FGX Camouflage blend in/work well during Fall Season, Spring Season, Summer Season & Winter Season combined in the wilderness or not?
1Id appreciate an NWU type III test. Its pretty amazing stuff even if it is made by the navy
In the future, I need to pick up a jacket and boonie in the pattern.
Definitely looks like a updated tiger stripe of sorts. But I still like the atacs-fg better.
FG is purpose built for this environment so I would think it has the edge here.
ha! i finally spotted you in one scene.
WHERES WALDO??
I like that head mesh. Did you make that yourself?
Oh it's just sniper veil isn't it?
No, its just a sniper veil.
I like the camouflage that I wear all the time
👍
My choice camo... 2:46 is a perfect example, even when taking a shot with debris/frag flying from the muzzle blast still can't make it out.
sounds harsh, but the IX is the only atacs that works. surprisingly well even in the late spring/summer woodland environment
I only got lucky twice, before movement. Couple times after crouching again I wouldn’t have picked u up if I looked away.
the new french camo looks like an upgraded woodland
hey Brent what are your top 5 patterns for your area
Not telling! ha
Not even a hint lol
It definitely works better in the winter they look like a single color green in the spring you are far more broken up in the winter
Where can I order this camo??
i watched both videos this camo is better in the winter...its to dark for that area.
The combat boots I wear are camouflage they are green
To me it's in the top 10 of the camos iv'e seen on this channel, very impressive. It does the same thing as Multican it looks more green then it is if surrounded gy green. But Pencott Greenzone eats any a-tacs for breakfast if you ask me...
Finest watch the desert Camo episode, Pencot and Atacs duel it out in a heavyweight match up. The Pencot Sandstorm does very well, but Atacs I judge, took the top spot by a dogs hair.
Saw you at 1:10,1:59, 7:00,8:24,12:00,14:34,
