It's the first time I see a blueberry bush that high, our blueberry bushes are much shorter yet we are renowned to have the best wild blueberries usually they thrive after wildfires so in the old days they used to clear out parts of the forest and burn clearings for the strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries to abound. It also helped to prevent forest fires. 🍁

When you'll were talking about persimmons brought to my memory of the time I had made my dad persimmon pudding(his very favorite dessert)to have with our Thanksgiving feast. I have always done this every year. I had found some in my freezer from quite a few years back. He told me that day that it was the best one I had made him yet! Which mother immediately took offense to!lol
I said, "Well, you won't believe me when I tell you how old they were!" He asked, and I told him that they were 11 years old!! I wished you could have seen his eyes😂😂
He's been gone near 5 years now but it is one of the funniest memories I have of him except the times that I, as a young child, would hide around a corner and scare him as he would walk by, just for the heck of and to see him jump to the ceiling!😂😂😂😂❤😊

When you mentioned all of you going on a picnic and just frying the fish on the river it brought back such wonderful memories! We used to take our boys fishing in FL. We always took a cast iron frying pan, corn meal, onions, oil, potatoes, salt and pepper. Whatever we caught we would stop and cook when we got hungry.....nothing ever tasted so good!!! That has been almost 50 years ago!!!! My how time flies when you are having fun!

Today's video was really wonderful !!
I just ate some blackberries and blueberries from my yard. They were so good. I've got 3 🍅 plants and they are doing pretty good. I went out to check on them Fri and fell flat on face.lol😂😂 It was so funny yet scarey. I thought I would never get up. It certainly wasn't easy. Just thankful that I fell in the grass and not the gravel. And glad I didn't get hurt.

I love watching you two, it doesn't matter what you are doing. It takes me back to siting and talking with my aunts and uncles Grandparents and great grandma and so many cousins that Rose family reunions were a sight to behold. Then you had to count in the friends. Oh the food, I can remember cooking in a little old kitchen at grannies she had an electric stove and there were 7 or 8 of us women in there cooking. It would get hot as a firecracker. My aunt Verba said that I was such a good cook I was going to kill somebody. My sister Cretia's late husband once said that I could take a glass of milk and a roll of toilet paper and make a gourmet meal. What a family. God bless you and your family.

We just had our first cherry tomatoes, and our Cherokee Purple plants are setting on fruit. The bugs ate the liver out of our bean plants. At home in Bramble Indiana we had an orchard with lots of sarvice and apple trees, and we would climb the trees and choose a comfortable limb to sit on and sit there eating our fill of sarvice. And when we had eaten all the ones around us on one tree we would move to another. It was...heaven, sitting and eating sarvice and talking to my sisters.

Is there anywhere to buy a service berry tree? We had one when I was a child. I loved those berries!

@@PepperplacewithShawnaMy niece had a serviceberry bush at one time, but she moved and I'm not sure if she ever got berries on it. My cousin once told that after we were grown up he was with some business associates and they were talking about serviceberries and he said "Oh you mean sarvice?!" And then he realized we had been country bumpkins and called them sarvice. Ha ha.

Love fresh produce. Your garden looks so good. Over the past couple of days we’ve been gifted some squash, cucumbers and okra. Can’t wait for a nice tangy tomato! When Matt said something about eating 2 or 3 tomato sandwiches, I totally understood! 🤣 God bless y’all. 😀❤️

When I was little, our neighbor had a persimmon tree. I had never had persimmons, so I was asking him what it was. I guess he thought I was showing too much interest and might snitch some, so acting all nice, he picked one and gave it to me to eat right then. Whoo-eee! I didn't think my mouth was ever going to come un-puckered. He wasn't a very nice man. 😄 I've been mistrustful of persimmons ever since, though I like them well enough once they're baked into bread or cookies. 😀

The best watermelons we grew came up in my son's sandy swing set/play area. I'd given him and his little buddy watermelon slices to eat outside and they had a seed spitting contest. Didn't know what the plant was at first but quickly figured it out. We did nothing but leave them be. Got 8 big sweet watermelons. Wouldn't you know know the next year we bought seeds and properly planted and got little mealy softballs.

Thanks so much for taking us along in your garden. I grew up with my Granddad having a Huge garden for the family and a smaller one behind his house. He welded for Dover elevators for 30yrs, would get up at 5am, work 7-3 and then go get in the garden until sundown. They don't make people like that anymore! I can't ever remember hearing him complain either, just wasn't his personality. I couldn't do his routine! Please tell Mr. Matt and your girls "Hi!" sending love from Memphis!

Love y'all sitting outside. It reminds me of times long ago.We would sit every night on the front porch til it got dark. We would listen to the night birds calling and bugs chattering. Love the country life. I grew up in the mountains of South Carolina. We usually planted three gardens. Summers were a busy time between taking care of gardens and gathering firewood for the winter. Love to your family. Your girls are so sweet and kind❤
