My mother was sick my whole life, and died when I was barely grown. She couldn't make physical paths for or with us, but the paths she built in our hearts will never fade. Miss Cindy has left her body, but she hasn't left your hearts. It takes what it takes to grieve the loss of a loved one, and it's different with every loss. I appreciate your candor, sharing some of yours with us. They say pain shared is halved, but joy shared is doubled. May your joys outweigh your tears. ❤️🩹
@JBlackwell What a absolutely beautiful tribute to your precious Momma. To read your words, show the heart of who you are AND it shows just how beautiful, precious and loving your Momma was. She obviously was an amazing Mom, you honor her well. She would be so pleased and touched by your words and so proud of you!! Be blessed my sweet friend! Happy and safe 4th!
Tipper you never cease to amaze me. Your love of family, of Appalachia, of your garden, just of all of life but especially your love of God. You’re so wise so thanks for sharing that wisdom with us. It just makes my day to watch one of your videos. Your garden is so beautiful - you’ve inspired me to try growing veggies. Flowers are no problem but at 78, veggies are a little more work. So far I’ve planted tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe and all kinds of squash and pumpkins for the grandkids, green beans, peas, cucumbers and zucchini. Might be a little late but so far, so good. Now to control the weeds! Have arthritis so when I’m done for the day, I can hardly walk but it’s been worth it. You’re such a beautiful person - from the inside out! Take care and may God continue to richly bless you and your family❣️
Tell Katie to make a memorial garden for Mrs. Cindy, maybe even her Pap . Maybe bring some of her flowers she loved and some outside garden trinkets and a metal bench. That way, Matt and all of you can just step outside and sit and remember the ones you love and miss and reminisce.
I did that too. I have a plant that represents each family member, one is inherited from my nana herself which I love, yarrow. I've made it into my medicinal herbs garden, so physical medicine comes from there. And I made sure everything self-sows so its everlasting.
That is such a great idea. I have a memory garden in honor of my mother who passed away in 2009. Listening to Tipper and her garden talk inspired me to do some herbs in Mama's garden. I strive to only put things in her garden that she would love. ❤
To borrow from Shakespeare and Elvis, this world is just a stage that we all must play our part. One day the curtain will come down on us and we’ll be in a land where we’ll never grow old with those who’ve gone on before us! Sweet Beulah Land from Squire Parsons comforts us all! Praying that God gives you comfort in the coming days with His Sweet, Sweet Spirit! ❤🙏
Thanks, Tipper. I’ve been enjoying following along with all the planting and growing of your lush garden , so beautiful. Also talking about your memories of the paths of your past with your love ones. This we keep with us forever. I’ve been thinking of your family these last few days and your loss of Ms. Cindy, it’s a heartache I very well understand, my husband had dementia and had to have hospice care here also. Hardest I’ve ever had to go through and it still is. ❤️🙏. Prayers for your loved ones and thank you for remembering me as well. Please take good care of one another cause I do and love you all! ❤️🙏❤️
I love your videos of talking and sharing your love of growing all things. When you mentioned Ms. Cindy and seeing her again, That day will be a glorious day of praising God when all things will be changed to Spirit and we will see no longer through a glass as a haze but clear as crystal, face to face. I pray for God to cover you in his love and peace and his love to bring comfort to your Soul. All my love
I now live in an apartment, so you sharing your garden means a great deal to me. I used to grow vegetables, melons, and flowers, too, and I loved every minute and all years doing it.
I grow flowers in memory of relatives. Since I lost over 20 family friends since 2016 it helps me to cope I lost my father at sixteen this year will be 50 years. But they are all still with me and always will be. Lost my only sibling a sister in 2021 I have felt so alone but plant a flower and I remember every time when I see that flower and I have lots of birds many cardinals it warms my heart.
I watched you and Matt plant your garden and it is brimming with food and flowers. How fast it all happened. Tipper your talking about paths touched my heart so tenderly. I can see all the paths we made growing up on the farm. Some with our shoes and many with our bare feet. You are such a beautiful lady and a treasure to all who follow you. ❤
I volunteer at a large pantry garden here in NJ and we cover the plants the second we see bugs w white row covers. Seems to help. The garden is my place of wonder in God’s creation.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden with us. More importantly, thank you for sharing your thoughts and memories with us. I don’t find it a coincidence that life began in a garden and new life began in a garden by an empty tomb. Thank you.
It's so refreshing to visit here. Other channels talk so much about all the things that are going wrong in the world. When I come here to visit, I leave with new ideas, hope and encouragement. Thank you Tipper.
This garden tour of beautiful peaceful vegetables and flowers is for sure very comforting to a weary mind . Add to that the joy of the breeze and birdsong and it is a gift from God .
So much beauty throughout your video Tipper. Your excitement of getting to take your walk in your garden.... Katie's rock garden 🤗 is a beautiful creation. True art in creating her garden, her music, jewelry and so much more I'm sure. I believe the bird we're hearing is a Carolina Wren among others. Thank you again for sharing Celebrating Appalachia 🤗 Praying for you all Tipper 🙏💕
I am now in tears, not because it's sad but because you talked about the seasons. I am ready to go now. I have no kids . You have really impact my life and my mind. Thank you!
Poke is good to fry. I soak mine in salt water. I dip them in a very little buttermilk then in flour then back in buttermilk then in flour fry real slow but have grease real hot to start with.
Tha right there is the prize for making it through another spring tending our gardens with hard work and the sweat of your brow! I love my tomato sandwiches exactly the same way ❤ with soft white bread and Hellmans or Dukes ! We’re in the western upstate of SC. Much debate in this area also about mayo and it’s always when tomatoes ripen! Everyone want their mater sandwich just perfect. Love your family’s UA-cam channel and y’all are very much like those of us living in the Dark Corners area, and really all of the western upstate. Take care and God Bless you all ,my sincere condolences for the loss of Miss Cindy
I loved when you said of your yard and garden, "It makes me very happy"...one of my favorite things to do is to wake up and open our back door to see our yard and garden in the morning light, especially if it's rained in the night. All the work of spring, summer, and fall is worth that first peek of the day.
Walking through the garden with you feeds my soul now that I'm retired due to health. Made a living in Horticulture for decades. When your Elderberry patch takes off and you have an abundance, the flower heads make delicious fritters. I love yellow pear tomatoes the way you guys love your Tommy Toes. Always taught kiddos that they were garden candy. Sweet as sugar! Glad you get to enjoy them too. Thanks again for the Soul Food!
Tipper, every time I hear you say ‘okry’ instead of ‘okra’, I think of my mom and dad. That’s how they pronounced it when I was growin up. And peonies were ‘pineys’. Precious memories flood my soul every time I hear you talk. 😊
Y’all are quickly becoming my favorite channel to watch. I love how real and true you are. My family history comes from the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky You give me a vision as to where a LOT of our family traditions come from. And Katie’s bed is fabulous!! Now she needs to make a memory garden for Ms Cindy. I made one for my own grandmother. It just brings a smile when I see it. Praying big blessings for y’all!
My prayers are still with your family. I can see the sadness in your face and hear it as you speak of Miss Cindy. What a wonderful legacy she left you all. As I read somewhere, "the only thing that stays the same, is that everything changes." God Bless you all.
Seems like yesterday when you and Corie were at the table sorting through your seed packets and dreaming of your gardens to come. You’ve done a wonderful job making dreams a reality. 🙏🏻💛🙏🏻
Wanted to give an update. Everyone, I made Miss Cindy's blueberry pie. It is soooo good. Thanks for sharing her recipe Tipper. Our garden has been not doing it's normal thing. Our weather is finally warming up. It's 87 today and it's been so much cooler here. I think I have powdery mildew but not sure. Hopefully, with your temps coming up your toms will take off. I am getting tomatillos already. I planted my seeds and peppers are doing the poorest. I think my sweet potatoes will be fingerlings at best.
Speaking of paths. I have made plenty of them. From my house to my brothers , to my Mama & Daddy's & to my Granny's . THey are all gone now. Memories truly are precious.
Tipper, the garden is amazing. Wow it has really grown. When you were zooming in on those Blackberries. I said out loud pick that ripe one and eat it! My belly was growling just seeing all the wonderful goodness. My big boy tomatoes are thriving friuts all over it however i have some yellowing of leaves. Hope i didnt water too much and also had some rain. Sad to say my celery never grew anything. The seeds are so tiny. I planted Nasturtiums and i have them poping up everywhere excited to see blooms. I think im loving them just like you do. Love your family and appreciate what you do for all of us that look forward to you and the girls posting. Prayers to each of you ❤🙏
You talking about the path’s brought tears to my eyes. It brought back the memories of the paths at both my grandparents. My pa had his path to the garden. You could leave the bicycle anywhere in the yard other than pa’s path. Then I had my path, the path that lead from my house to my pap’s, when I was a child I was fortunate enough to live beside him kind of like you live next to granny. How I wish I could walk that path and sit on the porch with my pap again. Thank you for sparky my memories, made me smile and tear up. What special memories.
It's so pleasant to follow you on your joyrneys through your garden and daily life. I'm alone and I enjoy your family like my own. Through joy and sorrow family is the best that we have. We share it all together and plan for what is to come next. So great a time here in the summer. Thank you for sharing with us. Susan
Grandaddy, grandaddy, which way did the cows go...the only insect I would pick up..😄 I appreciate the walk and talk and honoring loved ones... thanks Tipper 🤗❤️
I planted joe pye weed on purpose and it attracts loads of Monarch butterfly each year on their tall purple flowers. Gosh your garden looks great, it’s amazing how a garden takes care of itself. I always hover over mine, but it doesn’t seem to be necessary. Katie’s bed is beautiful, can’t wait to see it planted! Time in the garden is so healing. 🌸🌸🌸🌿🌿
This was such a wonderful video I love seeing your garden it looks so good. I really liked Katie’s little garden she is so talented. I’m still praying for you and your family.😊
I have sprinkled flour in my flowers that the grasshoppers want to chew on. Apparently it gums up their mouths. It’s wonderful to celebrate the family connections through the years.
Your garden tour videos are my favorite! With it being our first year gardening, we have learned so much from watching your videos! It has been such a wonderful experience to garden with my son and then we watch your videos together and eat our popsicles lol. I can't thank you enough for your insightfulness and being able to bond with my family over watching yours. We aren't sure when our potatoes are done, so we are looking forward to seeing you harvest those and also, we are very interested in learning more about all the medicinal plants that you are growing and what they are used for. Perhaps that is the next book, Medicinal Plants of Appalachia! We are hoping to catch you guys at the book signing in Murphy! ❤
Your garden is so beautiful, Tipper...so lush and green! You are sure to be blessed with a bountiful harvest this year. Not sure if you've heard of it, but there is an app that lets you listen to birds and it tells you what bird is singing and talking...the app is called Merlin...it's a very neat and fun app to have if you love listening to the birds!! Katie's little garden bed is so pretty too with those creek rocks. Your deep pondering over the paths and gardening is quite insightful and definitely has me thinking of these kinds of paths in my own life. As always, thank you for sharing your garden beauty with us!!☺
Currently @7:08 pm, it is 90 degrees in the Florida panhandle. I am trying hard keeping plants watered because no rain. I LOVE Katie's rock bed!!! Well done!
It's about the same weather here in Corpus Christi, Texas. We've had 20 consecutive days where the Heat Index has been 100 + F, and the highest our HI got was 121!!
Tipper your garden is beautiful and it must be a wonderful feeling to know that you can feed your family and enjoy it. Your memories of Pap and Miss Cindy will always be around you and Matt and those beautiful girls. You have raised two no only beautiful but wise and God loving young women you and Matt have the right to be proud ❤
My internet has been down for the last couple of days. A service tech. arrived this morning and got me back up, and first thing I found on YT was you, and the girls had posted videos about their plants, or planting. I truly love when you make a trip around your garden, it is so beautiful. Growing so nicely. You should be harvesting most of it soon. I never was much of a gardener, but I surely love to watch planting, and the progress. Great video, thanks for keeping us posted. Be safe, and may God bless you all!
I teared up with you as you were talking about the paths and seeing Miss Cindy again one day. It made me think of the day that I’ll walk a path of my own and be reunited with my beautiful daughter that I lost a year and a half ago. Losing someone you love is hard. Still praying for your family.
Someday you will begin to have grandchildren and, in one way or another, you will see all those you have loved and to whom you've said goodbye in those precious lives. It's magical, and like the paths between your homes, you see that beautiful connection between generations. You will be amazed at what a difference it will make in easing the burden of the loss of your parents and grandparents. God bless you all.
I am so excited Tipper. Planning to leave early in the morning & drive from Eastern NC & see you at the book signing tomorrow. Loved the garden tour. Mine is been taken over by grass. Mom got very sick in May and I was with her at the hospital & now she is in a rehab facility. I go everyday & I just could not get to the garden when it needed weeding. I’m so sorry for your loss of Miss Cindy. You will continue to be in my prayers. I just love your channel & Your family!
I just watched your garden tour, it’s looking beautiful. This video has so much in it, what you came to near the end was how a garden feeds us in so many ways other than with food. When I am alone in my garden I feel a connection with The Lord that is so strong. I loved seeing Katie making her garden, then you spoke of Miss Cindy’s talking about Pap and the tiller. It moved me. I appreciate you and your family.
I loved this tour of the garden. Loved hearing your talk on your loved ones that has passed. The Lord blesses us when we take care of our loved ones. You have an amazing family.
😢 I am sad for your loss of miss Cindy. Did you know that the birds sing in morning to wake of the trees and plants. Vibration of classical music will make your garden grow. Love your videos.❤
Ty Tipper for sharing this special tour of your garden. So relaxing & great tips on getting rid of the pests. Love all the beautiful memories of your love ones.❤ Great job Katie on your flower bed! Beautiful!❤😊
I love how you bring such thought provoking life stories from your garden. Mrs. Cindy’s sickness and passing has been heavy on my heart for y’all. I’m truly sorry for y’all’s hurting, but I can tell she was much loved. I pray for peace and comfort for your family.
I had so much I wanted to say throughout the video and I can't remember it all now. Thank you for sharing a longer video today. I just love seeing gardens, whether they are flowers or food. I love the sounds in the background too. Hearing the chickens just takes me back to when I was a girl. I found out about getting your daily email for the Blind Pig and the Acorn. I just look forward to it every morning. I read my bible, devotion, and then your blog. Some days my friends are busy and they don't have time to talk, so I'm thankful to have time with you. God bless ya'll as ya'll journey this new "path" without Miss Cindy here. She will always be near as long as you have these memories.
With all the conflict, hostility and turmoil within families and outside of family, Miss Tipper you and your family sure are a breath of fresh air. Something I longed for my entire youth growing up. Your garden is absolutely beautiful!!! From one mountain to another, I understand you.. God Bless you always 🙏
You grabbed my heart Tipper at the closing of this video. Paths.....Beginning with. Gods path for us to our own path we choose to make with building our family. So many opportunities to veer off that path, right or wrong. We do reap what we sow.😊
God bless you...Thank you for sharing your garden paths with us to enjoy here. Brings back memories of daddy's watermelon patch, our garden in the coastal part of NC, and Mama's flowers growing hither and yonder. God bless! Treasured memories...thanks for the memory jog and the blog...Happy gardening! 💕
Tipper listening to your channel is a breath of fresh air! You all enjoy the simplest things in this life that most of us a seem to take for granted and i want to personally thank you! I have bought your book it is a treasure trove on Appalachian knowledge and traditions. Also i am going to make the blackberry pie and hand ones. In closing i wanted to let you know of another you tube channel that i think you would enjoy when you have the time it is called Whipper Will Hollow i think that is the correct spelling. Happy July 4! Tell Matt to stay cool!
I was picking a long row of green beans a few summers ago, and those are the times that the mind wanders. Well, I began marveling at the fact that you could never guess what you would find just by looking at the plant. Some of the biggest most beautiful plants had very few green beans and some plants that were looking a bit pitiful had so many, while still other plants had to be really carefully searched to find their beans, plentiful and gorgeous but well camouflaged within the leaves. Just like people...

Beautiful said about Your Mother ❤❤
@JBlackwell
What a absolutely beautiful tribute to your precious Momma. To read your words, show the heart of who you are AND it shows just how beautiful, precious and loving your Momma was. She obviously was an amazing Mom, you honor her well. She would be so pleased and touched by your words and so proud of you!! Be blessed my sweet friend! Happy and safe 4th!
Thank you both. Next month marks 34 years since she died. I miss her terribly this time of year. 🩵
My goodness, what a lovely sentiment ❤

A friend of mine made a pretty/cute rock garden for family members that have passed and for the ones living on the outside of it. Turned out so nice
That’s a wonderful idea

41:40 Carolina Wrens and the pairs do love to sing to each other, every day, no matter what season. Absolutely one of my favorite song birds 🙂

How I wish I could walk that path and sit on the porch with my pap again. Thank you for sparky my memories, made me smile and tear up. What special memories.
Bless you!
Nasturtiums are lovely flowers to add in to a salad.
It's so pleasant to follow you on your joyrneys through your garden and daily life. I'm alone and I enjoy your family like my own. Through joy and sorrow family is the best that we have. We share it all together and plan for what is to come next. So great a time here in the summer. Thank you for sharing with us. Susan
Grandaddy, grandaddy, which way did the cows go...the only insect I would pick up..😄
I appreciate the walk and talk and honoring loved ones... thanks Tipper 🤗❤️
You need to cook up some fried green tomatoes from those sick tomatoe plants.
Bless you all!! There is nothing more precious than family and family history. Your garden looks wonderful!
How God provides food to fill our bodies and beauty for us to fill our hearts 💕
There is just something about the videos you do by yourself that are so special❤
Whippoorwill Holler Tipper
Love Miss Lori 😀
Thanks! Much love from the other side of the mountains, oh what a day it will be when we all get to Heaven 🙏🙏🙏 amen
Thank you Thomas! We appreciate you 😀
We did enjoy it very much. Take care Tipper, we’re all thinking of you and your family.
We can all see that God's hand is in all your lives. I thank you so much for sharing it.
Thank you!!
Absolutely love the rock garden bed ❤❤❤❤
I have sprinkled flour in my flowers that the grasshoppers want to chew on. Apparently it gums up their mouths.
It’s wonderful to celebrate the family connections through the years.
That's a new one to me about the granddaddy long leg and the cows. Love it😂😊
Listening while I do my chores, its late but I'm a night owl ,love just listening
Thank you so much!! So glad you are enjoying the videos. We appreciate you watching them 😀
Your garden is so beautiful, Tipper...so lush and green! As always, thank you for sharing your garden beauty with us!!☺
Spur of the moment thoughts and stories are always the best. Paths, we all make them. You have made paths for us too, Tipper. Love you and your paths💟
Katie’s rock bed is really cool😍. Both the girls have developed your love for gardening Tipper👍. What an awesome love of nature to share 😊.
Glad you got it fixed! Thank you for visiting with us 😀
We part for now only to meet again in eternity. very consoling thought
Love that garden with the Japanese things, cosmos, poppies and nasturtiums❤… Lovely❤
I like to think of God as the Great Gardener. What you said about changes and growth fits it perfectly. Thank you.
That little blue flower you pointed out, is called asiatic day flower. They are very invasive. Your garden and flowers looks beautiful .
I teared up with you as you were talking about the paths and seeing Miss Cindy again one day. It made me think of the day that I’ll walk a path of my own and be reunited with my beautiful daughter that I lost a year and a half ago. Losing someone you love is hard. Still praying for your family.
Bless you!
I don't know how I missed this one, but catching up. I love what you have done with your gardening...love all the green. Take care and God Bless.
Thank you!! Can't wait to meet you 😀

I can’t believe how fast your garden grows… it’s so exciting!!!!
Thank you!!
Thank you!
Your garden is beautiful. It won't take away your pain, but it will give you joy. 🙏❤️
Garden looks great. Continued prayers for comfort for you all.
Lovely garden for a lovely, dear, family!! 💔🙏🏼🐾🙏🏼💔
Thank you for the video. Still praying for continued comfort and remembrance of great memories.
Enjoyed the garden tour very much. Appreciate your's and your family's faith and poetic point of view. Beautiful. Real.
Good job Katie on your rock garden and Tipper your nasturtiums are beautiful.
You grabbed my heart Tipper at the closing of this video. Paths.....Beginning with. Gods path for us to our own path we choose to make with building our family. So many opportunities to veer off that path, right or wrong. We do reap what we sow.😊
I love this video and your talk about Miss Cindy and the girls and your father! How wonderful!!
Thank you for the kind words! So glad you enjoy what we do. I love Miss Lori and Mr. Brown they are amazing 😀
Love those thoughts 😀
