Helle knives simply resonate craftsmanship like a Martin guitar. Not cheap but still reasonably affordable to those who want a bushcraft knife of high standards. Helle rocks.
Hi from Germany..bought my Eggen 10 years ago +-. Yesterday I orderd a new Helle..the Utvaer...cant wait to get it ..You realy do great work in this handcrafted Tools 💯👍
I have a lot of respect for your company! I agree 110% with traditional bladesmithing, just last year I was making Damascus steel blades but unfortunately could not keep the sales up because somehow people were selling blades at extremely cheap rates like £30 a blade. It's not understandable for the effort that goes into each blade. I hope your company doesn't have the same conflict I had & I hope the traditional ways stay alive for many moons to come! I will definitely be purchasing again!
I’m saving money for my first Helle knife. Looking at three knives total for the future. I think I’ve finally found what I have always wanted. A beautiful knife that is functional. Thank you!
Helle knives are pretty cool and can imagine a viking fisherman using a knife that looks similar to a modern Helle. I also like that they sell the blank blades so that you can make your own handle for even more bushcraft feel.
I love the fact they are hand made. It means that no two knives will ever be exactly the same and that to me makes them special. However I am yet to own one but that will change very soon.
Love Helle knives. One of the few brands still made in Scandinavia. I mostly buy knives from Mora but looking to add some Helle. I like that Helle still does the triple laminate. This used to be very common with Swedish steel knives too. My old Frost no 1 still has this type of blade.
Remarkable How you can Grind Edge so precise, by hand , instead of a Robotic machine. Thats true Craftmanship. I have a Puko Hunting Knife, not made by Helle, and is nice Quality, but not as nice as A Helle. I like the Laminated core idea. A nice Shiny blade, but actual edge of Carbon Steel. Great concept. That process alone; sandwiching two pieces of Stainless and Carbon steel in middle, would be interesting to see produced.
Got the Temagami at Toronto's outdoor show it truly is beautiful and I was the first person to it signed by Les Stroud! That is awesome. Truly remarkable knives
Merry Christmas everyone! I just got my first Helle Knife today, im very impressed with Alden. GT was too expensive. Alden, still very beautiful and strong
I'm impressed! Still made by skilled craftsmen by hand! Indeed just like what Mr. Helle said; there are cheaper ways to make a knife, but not necessarily the best. Unlike that other Norwegian knife company that also had a factory tour video. There were just robots and mechanics!
a new comment for the helle good knives 💪 could you consider doing left handed sheats please? some of the users are lefties like myself. start with Eggen model please 😎
I found one of your knives at the bottom of the James river on a camping trip. The handle that protrudes out to the sheath was worn down by the river but when i pulled it out the blade was immaculate. I'm taking steps to restore the water logged wood and i'm looking forward to owning one of these excellent knives. Well done
Blade is punched out, hand sharpened, fitted with wooden blocks for handles and goes into auto shaping machine, and then buffed on buffing machine. A lot more machine made than my brute de forged 5160 blades. And then they sell at handmade prices.
That's how most modern knives are, and it actually produces better quality control and much faster production times compared to hand forging every small blade they make, you can forge a large sheet of good quality steel and then stamp out the blade shapes, then hand grind them.
Well… I just posted a video about my bent TEMAGAMI. Needless to say that’s a little disappointing, so I guess you’re not quite the perfectionist that you claim to be. And the sharpened spine is a little sloppy, but I can overlook that and fix that too. I’m going to try and straighten this if it breaks, oh, well, my bad, Off to the landfill he goes.
Well, I guess all these people died because I've bought two this week and both had quality issues. The newest one has a crooked bolster so wood shows on one side and metal sticks out on the other. I'm from America but have Norwegian blood in me so, I thought it would be cool to own a knife from there. I'll fix what Helle screwed up just for the sake of me wanting to own a knife from Norway but, who ever is running this operation should be ashamed.
Tyler there is a man from uk. i cant remember his name but his work is out of this world fit and finish .send me a message and il find his you tube for you ..
That's unacceptable. I thought helle took pride in their work. Blocking people isn't a way of making life customers. I refuse to buy anything from them again.
Helle knives are not made by machine. Then why show a robot arm forging one. Also stating Helle knives are unique. Then why show rows of the same looking knife?
Terrible quality control. After returning one defective knife (utvaer), I received a second, defective replacement knife. Shoddy workmanship and non-existent post sales support.
Jon Kalashnikov Off centre grinds are the most common problem I’ve encountered. Enough so to never buy Helle over the net as it’s a risk. I’m not interested in buying in person either anymore as if they let such junk as I’ve seen pass QC then that tells me a lot about their business model and motive behind it.
Nice propaganda/sales piece. Only, the problem is it doesn’t reflect the current reality of your product. The quality control is very poor with such standard features as: Off centre grinds...on laminated steel no less. Warped blades. Crooked and poorly fit bolsters. Very poor grade birch with no figuring whatsoever. Poor sheaths that don’t retain the knife sufficiently. Poor finishing overall. Clean up your act, Helle, and you will regain your old customers. As it is ,and regardless of cost, Morakniv of Sweden offers superior knives. Above all Mora are consistent and reliable. Those wanting Norwegian knives can find far better options from other makers in Norway.
Pure quality ....
Produced by craftsmen....
Used by craftsmen....
Can't thank the workforce at Helle enough, will be buying more.
Helle knives simply resonate craftsmanship like a Martin guitar. Not cheap but still reasonably affordable to those who want a bushcraft knife of high standards. Helle rocks.
Habe im Norwegenurlaub 5 Messer gekauft und diese Woche das 20.bestellt.Bei mir sind diese schönen Messer Vitrinenstücke

Such craftsmanship don't come cheap either.

Maybe 13 years ago. The last few knives were nice, but the pressure of high demand is getting quality of the product.
Just bought a GT for a deer hunt. Beautiful knife. Very well made. Unfortunately the deer were cooperative and my Helle remains untested.
Ножи с душой.
They sure are!
Lots of people appreciate Helle knives;hopefully I will get one soon;unfortunatelly I don't have the money...:(
I handled a mates on e of these yesterday, reaal nice quality! Does anyone know what the helle eggine handle is made from?

Wait a minute what part of the James River! And was this about 3 years ago!??

It's a shame the younger generation isn't getting involved in making things with their hands.
And it all started with Atari !
MrLeonard55 Ok, boomer
Ps: False, false and false
Love you guys! But you have to fix balance for your viking knife...
Ne ho uno che da 15anni lo portò sempre con me nelle mie escursioni e mi ci sono affezionato e sempre affilato comodo e funzionale lo consiglio a chi cerca un coltello funzionale senza fronzoli
It is an original soundtrack composed by myself for this commercial. It can be heard in my playlist on my website: vollefilms . com
@andrewubaldi generally forge, i think.

I'd like to add the first was bad enough it's being sent back.
Tyler same here. Two Utvaers, both unacceptable. Posted some pics to their Facebook page and they blocked me!!

You don't have to worry about that. I appreciate it. I'm worried I might end up broke if I see his work.
You guys won’t warranty my knife I sent in. You claim the steel can be bent back!! Pure b.s

No full tang no strength.
We make full tang, stick tang and folding knives. The choice is all about what the knife is intended for.
