Hey Dan, Thanks so much for taking the time to talk folks through your experience with hungry bin... We all just watched it in the office, we love your work! Cheers, Ben. (Hungry bin inventor and designer..)
Awesome product you have put out Ben!!!
Ben Bell from New Zealand
Hi there, I watched this before I got my Hungry Bin and now after using it for a year, I've come back to review it again. Great suggestions and advice :) This is the best continuous flow vermiculture bin i've ever used. My garden is very happy. Thanks for the video.
Awesome, glad you're liking the Hungry Bin fattyhamster!! I need to get mine back up and running, my bin was mistaken for a trash can and wheeled out to the road, my wigglers got baked unfortunately. I thank ya for watching and commenting and a big welcome to my channel!! Dan
What a great video! Thanks for taking the time to film and post. You answered all the questions I had about the Hungry Bin and I'm ordering mine now :-)
Hey there Effortless Health, thanks for giving my channel a look!!! Glad I could help on the Hungry Bin, it's a wonderful piece of equipment and will serve you really well, the worms will love it too!!! Thanks for watching!!! Dan
Awesome! Thank you for the video, Im starting mine today :D
Thank ya for watching sir and welcome to my channel!! As soon as it warms up here, I'll be getting my Hungry Bin back running!! Do let us know how your vermicomposter is progressing!! Have a good weekend and do come back and visit when ya can!! Dan
Hey Dan, Do your worms travel around the sides and top of the bin. I always have worms on top and sides.
Thank ya for watching and commenting sir, welcome to the channel!! No sir, the only time I have worm on the lid is when I'm about to get a really bad rain storm, I hear tell the worms can sense this and run for the hills lol!! I don't know if that's true but that's the only time my worms do that!! Hope this helps ya out some!! Dan
Thanks for the info. I'm going to try my hungry bin with European night crawlers here in Michigan
Thank ya for watching and commenting Star Jackson, welcome to the channel and our community mam!! Awesome, I've never tried the European night crawlers before, do let us know how that works out for ya, I'm definitely interested on how they work for ya!! You have a good Tuesday evening mam, thank ya for stopping by the channel!! Dan
@Star Jackson how is it going? I'm in Michigan too and I have mostly Red Wigglers and only a few Night Crawlers
great video dan. by the way just f.y.i. it's commonly thought the worms eat the food. But infact they eat the bacteria on the rotting food. I blend my foods well so it breaks down so fast the worms have food bacteria right away and that reduces the smell. Believe it or not mine is in my living room, and does not smell. I also let a spider or two make a web inside to catch any knats.
Good info there Chris, yep I've always phrased it that way, the worms eat the food.....I do as you do,I blend up my veggie scraps really well for them so they can can to it faster!!! Thanks for stopping by sir!!! Dan
They love pumpkin, melons, and most fruits. Of course not the citrus fruits. You can give them pineapple.
They get all our green vegetable scraps minus the citrus....Thanks for watching
They love apples too!
They will eat citrus in small amounts
@@sharonhampton5173 yes they can as we have all learned. That was three years ago. I feed citrus to all my worms. They love it.
I wish I would have seen this video before I ordered my 360 bin. But I heard you say you in Mississippi. I am located in Jackson Mississippi
Thank ya fr watching Ronnie Bagwell and yes sir, I'm in Philadelphia, MS!! I need to get my Hungry Bin back up and running, hoping to do so in the spring!! Happy New Years to ya!! Dan
Do you ever add more bedding?
Thank ya for watching and commenting Mrs Donna, welcome to our community and the channel mam!! Yes mam, I added pieces of cardboard to the top of the bin, the worms really like that!! Dan
💕💕💕💕💕 S U P E R 💘💘 V I D E O 💕💕💕💕💕 Ive been wanting to get something like this... we compost for our garden outdoors.. but in the winter we have so much snow its hard to get the composter.. so this would be a great alternative so we can conti nue to compost indoors during these long winter months
It's a really nice composter Mrs Susie, I'm reworking mine come spring time!! Thanks dfor watching mam!! Dan
You may have addressed this but I was wondering if I need to moisten the petemoss/manure before I introduce the worms?
Hello Marcus Cox, welcome to our community and the channel!! Yes, I'd definitely dampen the bedding material before introducing the worms to your bin!! I thank ya for watching and commenting, have a good Wednesday evening!! Dan
Enjoyed the video how often are you able to harvest?
Faith Family, my bin is established, so I'm harvesting every 3 months or so!!!! Thanks for stopping by and watching my videos!!!! Dan
How often do you have to fill the bin with peat moss or coco coir?
Hello Jesse LeSeibert, welcome to our community and the channel!! When my Hungry Bin was up and running, I didn't have to refill it, I just monitored it and kept the medium covered with damp news paper and let them worms go to work!! I hope this answered your question!!! Thank ya for watching and commenting, you have a great week!! Dan
Please ask me? Why hungry bin dropped it all when he took out the land. Thank you
Hello Anhkien and welcome to my channel!! The bin tipped over because it was full of vermicompost, I didn't have a good hold on it when I pulled it from under the Hungry Bin!! Thank ya for watching!! Dan
How often do you add water?
Thank ya for watching and commenting Mr Craig, welcome to our community and the channel!! When I had the system up and running, I'd check the moisture weekly because it's so hot here in the Sip, even in the shade. Hope that answers your question, have a good weekend!! Dan
great review. is it messy to collect the castingd? Can you give a demonstration?
Denis from montreal
Hey Denis and thanks for stopping by our channel!! I think I posted a video up on 5-17-17 and I harvested some vermicompost!! I have 3 vermicomposting videos I think Denis!!! Dan
🙏❤️🙏
Thank ya for watching Mrs Debbie!! Dan
Freeze their food first. It breaks down the cell walls. Then blend it. Mix it with enough shredded paper, cardboard, etc.. until its just damp and then feed your worms.
Hello Natureboy Bryon, welcome to our community and the channel sir!! Thank ya for the tips on feeding the composting worms, hopefully in the next few months I can get some more worms in and get that composter running again!! Thank ya for watching and commenting, have a great week!! Dan
@@HomeInTheSticks If you can get them, get some indian blues. They out do all others in eating and breeding big time! ;-) Tim Cambell, on yt, has them sometimes.
Thank ya for the info sir and I reckon I've never seen that type of composting worm, I may have to look into that!! Dan
Are you still happy with the hungry bin? I'm debating between it and the urban worm bag
Hello Andre and welcome to my channel!! Yes sir, I'm very happy with my Hungry Bin, I have to redo it but when I had it up and running, it worked flawlessly!! Thank ya for watching and do come back and visit when ya can!! Dan
brother stop wasting money on your bedding. Find horse manure for free or cheap 3-5$/70lbs here where im from. Shred cardboard and mix it with that and your done. Make sure the manure has already heated in the first stage of manure decomposing for worms sake.
Good info on the bedding Last Cast Production, I have horses so I need to look into utilizing that manure!! Thank ya for watching and commenting!! Dan
