Love his writings and analyses. What he's saying is 100% true. When you read his books he even goes in depth to illustrate how terrible the consensus and the media are themselves while trying to convince you of a falsehood. He always digs down to the roots to expose the falsity of their claims.
I say this to people all the time: critically think and examine everything you listen to, buy into, or read from everyone and then make a decision. Don't just get informed, scrutinize the information. Much of the public is fooled into the crap our politicians put out because we have lost the ability to critically think and question things. It's truly disheartening. We vote for our own demise. Good stuff.

Watch the vid again Troy. But I'll give a few without looking anything up. So you know they won't be word for word but from memory, my 72 yr old memory.
Intellectuals feel that if they are expert in one subject - that qualifies them to give public opinions on multiple subjects which they know little about.
Intellectuals have created a system in which they get paid for ideas they put forth but have no consequences if those ideas fail.
The left is very interested in why people are in poverty - when they should be asking, why, and how, have so many people become prosperous? The entire world started out in poverty - what caused so many to prosper?
On Obama: The man has the ability to make statements that are completely preposterous, sound not only plausible, but inspiring!
The left has portrayed slavery as if it is a problem only of Western colonialism - when the Islamic slave trade took 3 million white slaves from Eastern Europe decades before the first slaves arrived in America and were slaving from their inception in the 7th century.
The left has tried to isolate and localize slavery to the western colonial period when it has actually existed throughout human history.

@@dongaetano3687 Your 72 year old memory has just regurgitated what the video has said. Like I said If George Bush wrote up the NAFTA agreement and Clinton passed it then how can their be a Left/Right argument? If both parties need money from CPAC and AIPAC to get elected, how can their be a LEFT/ RIGHT argument? The intellectuals are not only on the supposed left who get paid for writing books and making speeches, but you have Jordan Peterson, Charlie Kirk, Steve Malenuex, Laura Sortherland, Steven Crowder, and so on. Why? You would have to refer to the corporations which controls our media (by the way, Blacks don't have a media). They control our minds. It is called social engineering. Any thought outside of what they tell us is called crazy. So, since you want to be in the "in crowd" it is comfortable to tell me, I am wrong. This is why there is no more slaver "as it was" because the Black population reached 13%. They were finding it difficult to control the slavery. Even though your racist mind would like to believe that this happened all over, this "specifically" were against black people. They divide the families. They raped children. They castrated men, They chopped of their foot if they ran away, they starved them to death. They chopped off the hands of little boys for not producing enough. They didn't do this to White families The White people only had to serve seven years. Blacks had to do it for life. So, there was this DEMONIC CRUELTY FROM WHITE people. I can try to put that in the pass. Yet, White people are STILL bringing it up in 2022. This shows you have no humanity in your soul. Black people still have to tell you right for wrong. I can't see you as a White supremacist when a Black man has to teach you.

In Australia we are way less free than 30 years ago.
Things that I could do as a kid are "crimes" today.
Working for my own profit. As a kid I worked to make money, I had to get savvy with worth/time etc. Now days that is illegal, I couldn`t get a job and no one can hire me.
Riding a push bike with no helmet. As a kid we all cruised around safe and happy, now cops will "fine" you if you do that.
Swimming pools had no fences. Now pools have to have a fence. But the funny thing is if there is a river next to a pool, the pool not having a fence makes you a criminal because it is a drowning hazard.
Guns. As a kid, most houses had guns, alot of them were on the lounge room wall. You could have a gun in public and no one cared. Now, locks and safes. Even the mere thought of a gun on a street is panic stations.
The list is long. Hold onto your freedoms yanks, losing them is shit.

The workers who fought for minimum wage laws were workers who didn't want blacks competing for similar work. Back then blacks were willing to do the same work for less pay. The minimum wage laws helped stop that. Look at the details of the history of minimum wage laws in the US and South Africa and you will find this to be the case.

I believe people, regardless of political affiliation, can become a more well-rounded individual by listening to Sowell. I find the end goal is not to persuade one to more conservative ideas. Rather, by empathizing where this man is coming from, one gains a new perspective on life. Too often in a Sowell video comment section do I find things like 'this is why I'm conservative' or 'this highlights how bad the left is', when really, one should approach the topic at hand without a preconceived notion of political bias. Unfortunately, the disagreements are highly nuanced. Nuances that frustrate authoritarians and non-academics. An example is seen in the reasons some young educators are leaving the profession in mid-west America. Professional educators, micromanaged educators, required to unprofessionally carry guns and pack wounds. Yes, an overstated, but not by much.

People who are discriminated against in a competitive market with no minimum wage do not always quit, and it does not always result in an increased wages because employers can (and do) hire back at the same wages. He should cite actual studies and findings on these things rather than anecdotes. I hope his books cite actual research more than his videos. I am hoping they are much less anecdotal. The best way to convince is use of actual facts, and not just dogma.
