Update: I have caught some small black flies with the new duo and it’s still so quiet. Love how it turns on and off when my grow lights do the same. Still loving it.

Glad I could help! I hadn't seen them compared either so just made my own video. The Duo is catching little black mosquito type bugs. We heat the house with wood so I think some are coming with with the wood stove. It's for sure working and am so thankful for the automatic on and off. just does it's thing and I don't pay much attention to it :)

That’s awesome you got a used one. I would take it to a hardware store or like Lowes or Menards and see about a replacement cord. Plugs seem pretty standard if you can find the right connection for the unit. Im getting ready to film an update on these videos. So look for that coming soon. Thanks for watching!

This is my first time ever hearing of this product. I purchased the Zevo today from Lowes. I have not used it yet but it seems much simpler to use and takes up much less space. They are more like large night lights.

Picked up the original one from amazing cause we have a ton of gnats in the house for some reason (probably because it’s summer time) but we keep it in the kitchen. I’m gonna get the DUO for my room and houseplants cause I’ve noticed a lot of them flying around and crawling in the soil of my plants.
News flash!!! You have gnats because you have plants in your house and that’s one of the things that they are attracted to.
I'm a year late, but I loved your review! Very thorough. Only thing I would, in the case of this particular review, would be to allow the Katchy Duo to run for a week or so to be able to show its bug catching ability.
I previously had the original Katchy and wondered if there is a difference in the bug catching ability, especially considering the Duo has the ring light and the pod for putting fly attracting liquids inside.

You will be the first one to post reviews on how effective they are in catching bugs the features are nice, but really counts is this bug catching ability. I own the original catchy and also the copycat called Toledo and the catchy is better in performance for catching bugs. I'm not sure why, it just seems better constructed and maybe has a more powerful fan but the difference was big. Now I want to know the difference between the new Duo 2 catchy and also the competitor remember the name of, but you promised you would show an actual performance comparison. I just checked your reviews and you have yet to do that. Please do it. There are a lot of people showing reviews, but nobody's comparing performance.

Awesome video!!!!! I have the original Katchy but now after using it for the last couple of years….I can’t get the fluorescent lighting to come on. It’s just lit to orange.

I’m conflicted with my answer. May have to do a follow up video. ;) Since the pad on the original is bigger it seems to catch more but I don’t think it does. I think it’s comparable. The positive still with the duo is the auto on and off and it’s quieter. The negative for the original (and it could just be mine) it has a high pitch to the fan so I turn it on only when we are sleeping so we can’t hear it. I think you would be happy with either! Also go to my YT home page and then community tab. Scroll down a few posts and there is a photo of the last time I replaced the pads !

The duo is specifically designed to attract flies as well as gnats hence the scent compartment. If you only have a gnat problem, I'd go with the original which is sold with and without the auto on feature.
The instructions it comes with says not meant for flies. Like house flies. Yes gnats. Not large flies. The scent is for fruit flies :)

You are the third one video of the new catchy Duo that I have watched, and no one shows an actual comparison of how effective one is over the other. I'm hoping someone will post such a comparison review. Yes features and talking about is great, but I actually want to see results. I own three of the original Style. I'm wondering with the apple cider bait tank included in the new Duo whether that really helps or not
They catch almost identical. I saw no difference with the scented pod and only used it a few times and never again. The fact it turns on and off due to the light sensor is the biggest difference. It’s a set it and forget it. And when I did the video I was the only one that compared these. So good to know others have opinions. But they catch the same amount. One is not a huge difference over the other. Hope that can help somewhat
Can you tell me if the voltage on the plug in wall adapter say 120v to 220v? I’m wanting to she if I can use this in Europe with an adapter but it has to say 220v.
The Duo states 100-120V. The original is just a USB port that plugs into any wall chunk or charger box. Hope that helps.
I'm having a gnat problem inside?? Now I have a bunch. I got the Zevo that plugs into your outlet and they work AWESOME Walmart is out of the refills right now. I haven't seen the duo I was just going to get the one original but do they not come with refill pads?? Please and thank you. I think Zevo plug-ins alot easier..ALOT and you don't hafta touch the sticky thing the bug are on.
I have not heard of a Zevo. Will have to look. They come with I believe five refill pads and then you can buy additional if needed. Here is a link to duo pads. amzn.to/3MTHLba How is the Zevo easier? Can you explain? And you don’t have to touch the pads. On either the original or the duo just dump the pad from the tray into the trash. This is why I like the duo better as the tray comes out and it has the automatic light that just comes on at dark. I hope that helped!

Does the UV not damage your eyes? I have some concerns about that
I can’t say if it would bother yours but doesn’t bother mine. It’s wrapped in a frosted plastic which acts almost light a light box. And they are on when I’m sleeping. A few years old now, how is the Duo working for you compared to the original? I've had two originals since 2020, and they've worked great. I went to clean the insides of them today, and I realized that the electronics are getting a little toasty (browned), and so it's probably time for me to buy another set. Should I get the Original? Or should I get the Duo?
Mine still seem to be fine. I only use them during the summer months when I tend to get bugs coming inside the house from the outside gardens. I use both of them plus a few other versions. But it looks like you saw the other videos too. ;)

For me, Katchy Duo fan is too loud to sleep with at 3/5 fan setting or above. At 1 or 2 setting, I doubt the suction is very effective for bugs. Looks like the regular Katchy has a larger fan (=quieter usually). Is the larger Katchy quieter, esp with the Quiet mode?
No!!!! My original is loud and has a high pitch sound my dog ears can hear. And drives me nuts. But it’s in my dining room and turn it on when we go to bed. The duo comes on when the lights go off and I never hear it. Very quiet even on high. As far as what they can catch, Go to my channel page and then to the community tab. scroll down a few photos and you can see what the pads look like. I just changed them and shared my “Katch”. Both work equally as well. So for me the standard is taller, cable is off to the side, and tray is falls open at bottom. Duo is smaller. Plug off back and has a tray door for pads. I guess it’s just the look you would want. I wish I would have gotten the Duo in white. My only disappointment is I don’t think they had white yet when I got it.
I have the larger white Katchy and I hardly notice the fan noise. To me there is no high pitched sound at all just a soft fan sound with the high speed and hardly any sound with the low speed setting. The only thing that I don't care for is the bright light when sleeping but that is required to lure the bugs in. In addition the larger glue pad will hold more bugs is a bonus for the original Katchy
Interesting. Yes I have dog ears or my fan may be louder then normal. But I do like the larger pad as well
Could you use the cord from the original Katchy and have it work with the Duo?
I never tried. Let me check…….we’ll it fits in the plug slot on the side as but the duo wouldn’t turn on. Plugged back to its own cord and it’s fine. 🤷🏻♀️so I guess the answer is no
What's the deal with the replacements? I am thinking this becomes very costly to replace sticky pads.
The sticky pads last a long time. They don’t lose their sticky. You may fill up the first one quickly if you have a bad bug problem. BUT…. As you catch all the bugs they fill up much slower. I’m on my second pad with the duo and my third pad with the original. I just wait until there isn’t a lot of room left and dispose of them. So if you have a low bug problem the pads last (for me) months. I hope that answers your question

Neither one is “meant” or made for flies…. But….. I catch them in the original (white one) quite often. Not sure why. I was going to do a community tab post today actually with photos of the pads. It’s that time of year! I’m catching a lot!
How do y'all clean the dust out of the inside?
I honestly haven't had much of a dust issue inside but you can use canned air or an air compressor and just blow it out :)
I have found an easy solution for cleaning the dust out. I used to use a Q-tip dabbed with alcohol, but that takes too long. So I became impatient and just pulled out my hair dryer. I believe it's a 1800 W one but it is messy, but it blows the dust right out. Since I own three, it was an easy job of cleaning the dust out of my mosquito catchers. Make sure and find a place that you can blow it out in . I have a very deep basin sink and I did it there. I'm sure ideas will be coming on better ways. This is a good idea, because it keeps the motors running smoother.
I guess you didn't mention the length of the cord. Or if someone just doesn't like touching bugs or a bug pad...can the pad just be dropped in the garbage instead of being handled? These are the things I would have liked to have known.
Yes you can just dump the pad in the trash. Which cord are you asking about? I could go measure it for you.

I would believe so. A bug is a bug. Many hydroponic users have something like this. An aphid doesn’t care what kind of plant it is when it invades.

It claims not to but the standard version seems too. Check out my community tab on my home page. I just posted some pics of the paper traps from a few days ago. But yes the white one seems to get flies. Both do moths too. They fly in my screen at night :)
