Remembering 183rd street Flea Market. Riding my bike from Opa Locka me and my cousin just to go see what the vibes was like and purchase a Bone Thugs N Harmony CD and Cassette tape if we had enough bread and if we didn’t we copped the dubs and rock the tunes.
And to know someone from home came up and kept it 100 the whole time while he made 100’s and still making it is incredibly motivating. I remember when my homeboy Tommy from Art of noise shot me the mixtape with triple c and He referenced Teflon Don or as we know him as today Rick Ross but back then he called him fatboy and I thought to myself ion care for the name but the talent was phenomenal and it gave me hope that when the time presents itself the world will know that we have bars down here as well. Triple C was next level back in the days.
And let me add one more thing
I thought it was dope that Rozay adopted the name Rick Ross from Ricky Freeway Ross because back then lot of black rappers except 2 Pac had some Italian name or Alias knowing damn well then ppl didn’t like us. So to see he took time out to get a name that was so huge I thought it’ll be greatly appreciated by the original. Me personally I believe Rozay didn’t mean any disrespect to him I’m sure it was a General Salute to the Homie which wasn’t recognized in that manner.
