this is also the main menù theme and set the mood of the game basically. There is always someone working and fighting for survival on the surface on the planet, even if it's nothing more than a wasteland, while the blessed few milion that live in the sky enjoy a false normal life that it's doomed to end someday because the planet pollution it's not stopping
This game was a massive part of my childhood and was one of the first things I really bonded with my younger brother over. This particular song has stuck with me for years since, and I listen to it a lot when I'm trying to unwind. It's very subdued, somber, yet hopeful. It's the song that plays on the main menu of the game, it's the first one you hear, and it really sets the tone. The world is a dark place. It's gritty, it's depressing, and it doesn't care about you. And yet despite that, to the very last human on earth, there will always be someone moving on the surface. Someone out there trying to survive, struggling to make their way in the world. And it's beautiful. That trilling piano melody will be with me till the day I die. Stay strong, and good luck out there Ravens.
My favorite track on the OST and it's one of the first ones you hear. Armored Core soundtracks can get a little messy or intense and have a lot of bangers but this is just so suppressed but has such a sad tone struggling to breach the surface. It's mood.

Ah yes, Armored Core For Answer is quite the unique one. In its previous game it goes off of in story of a world awkwardly disjointed in rule by a few big dog companies, their philosophies in their design, and the war they wrought to each other. In Armored Core 4 we settled their hideous crimes against other dog pilots of theirs so dangerous and feared that they played god in a sense. In For Answer we behold what was learned from the results and how some arose from their ashes with new schemes that all play part on how man lived. Their forces threatened by the whims of the individual, the corporations set a new tier of might, Arms Forts, colossal mobile battle structures manned by crews of thousands, and therefore a force they could trust. Behind this another front of battle sinks between the cracks by outcast revolutionaries called Orca who want to punish the corporations poluting the ground surface and living up in the clean air in the sky. Orca would also see through the thinning home as the corporations put satellite measures to prevent movement to space, and sought to open it up.
I've always loved this song, the piano is nuts.
The composer is Kota Hoshino the same guy who did Evergrace shop theme and Hideyuki Eto.
Just to clarify - Eto did only 2 tracks: "Test Pattern" and "Afterimage". The rest is all ya boi Hoshino.

If you listen carefully to ACVI trailers you can hear Hoshino singing in the back. Pretty sure he's working on the ost. 👍
Iirc, this song is the garage music for this game and plays while you’re working on your Armored Core. You hear it alot as you’re spending hours changing parts and tuning stats.
Close but not quite. It is the main title song. The garage version is a different arrangement. :)

The AC series has a really broad range of genres and experimentational styles and the games (15, and more if you count the handheld games on the PSP and *more* with the old mobile phone games) and there's a lot of gold to be dug from the range of music the FromSoft Sound Team has made for the franchise.
This is probably one of the most outright beautiful, gentle, resonant pieces in the series, and seeing it throw you such a curve ball is great.
ac4 and FA had a lotta songs i love, Overture? (w.e the ac4 intro song is), Panther, Remember, Fall, and the Answer being my go to's
This song more or less sums up 4A, it being the main menu song but also acts as the final boss theme for one of the routes in the game
This is a song that lives deep within my soul, and has ever since I first heard it
So a subtle not-subtle thing about this song is that it's most likely an homage piece to Moby's "God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters" because it has a very similar structure and the title is a small nod about God moving on the surface of the water.

I love this track. Droning out to its piano notes and the increasing tension as I prepare for the next mission, imparting the impression that what I'm about to do is going to play a part into a larger moving plot and have repercussions I can't fathom.
That piano gives me Touhou vibes and it has a very moving feel to it. That bass is an interesting contrast to the softer piano notes. That choir gives me goose bumps, the chords give me mixed emotions like happiness and sorrow. Cool song and I like it, the piano has a progression I enjoy so that's what makes this song for me.
Skim the soundtrack. You won't regret it.
I think if you count everything Armored Core we're up to 20 something. At least 15 main titles. FA continues 4's plot where people built the next generation of armored cores that are about 10x better in every way than the last generation. Problem being they emit radiation that's strong enough to melt metal. I don't know why you would build something like that but when they did, they did the sensible thing and had a war using those things. So, the super radiation pretty much killed the planet with the rich moving to Cradles, giant flying apartment complexes that float above the irradiated surface. Which is where FA starts. But people still live on the surface and the corporations still need resources, so hell lets have another war. Planets ruined anyways it surely can't get worst right?.....
