A very valuable video, actually. Makes 100% sense to feel this way. I think the comments have it covered, so I just wanted to thank you for putting this out there. Always useful to have examples of how very knowledgeable people can see things differently from a great number of people depending on the context.
Ayy! More Armored Core music! I'm here for it. Edit* Cosmos is one of those songs that the more you listen to, the more it grows on you. Its especially meaningful if you happened to catch it during the actual boss fight, and you can draw on that experience. It's definitely a very, VERY different feel overall with both the tone and the vocals, but it's a nice change-up after having listened to mecha grunge rock for the last 30 hours.
I didn't play Armored Core, but somehow this song gives me strong nostalgic vibes, like I've already heard it somewhere, sometime and hearing it now rises warm memories about something what has never happened. I like it. The ending part is great. Violin part gave me goosebumps.
So the original of this song is also called Cosmos, but it's from Armored Core For Answer. The original is less of this lofty vibe trip of this one, and more bang while the player battles the Arms Fort Answerer, a towering mobile battle station a drift, floating in the air and the definition of power as an ambitious collaborative craft of different techs. It was a very symbol of inspiration of their ambitions for mankind in the clouds and in of itself be uninhabitable nearby it as it emitted tons of radiation. I myself would listen to this version of the song if I'm looking for more of a vibe to listen to while painting or something.
The beauty of this song for me is it’s evolution from the previous versions of Cosmos, the original Cosmos is like boss music with this cascading sound in a downward fall while this one has a rising effect, I agree there’s a little bit much going on but yes it’s largely a very sentimental vibe
It's very interesting when you say you prefer the newer stuff compared to the older stuff, as Verdict Day (the game this one makes an appearance in) does in fact come after AC V. Now you are also correct in that there are other versions of the song, the original version that appears in AC FA and another rendition which appears on the Reprises album (an offical album of theme reduxes from large parts of the series) which I'm pretty sure is also a live edit. I personally would be interested in hearing your opinions on them as compared to this one but I'd understand if you don't have the time to take a tangent like that.
I think this kind of sound is the type that never ends when listening with some timer in the screen, but as an background music, the soundtrack finish so fast.
This really is a problem every time I saw Cosmos reacting video, it always goes straight to remix version not the original one. And it always left reactor so confused. This is like someone made a Jazz Cover Imperial March and recommend a reactor who never watched Star wars react to that.
I think the biggest thing here thats missing is context, since this was from an alternate music dlc pack for AC Verdict Day, set on the final mission in the game. A rare song of hope in a series of horrors of war. Think thisl give you a good idea of whats happening ua-cam.com/video/-zJBsrFa4i8/v-deo.html
Honestly I'm not a huge fan of Cosmos 20th version either. Its alright, but as far as AC music goes, I don't re-listen to it all that often. Hope you listen to tracks like "9" and the reprise remix (not a huge fan of the 20th remix for this one), and "Autobahn" at some point. 9 is iconic, and Autobahn is just good.
Listening to the original version of Cosmos before hearing this version is the only way to really do it properly. If you do it out of order, it doesn't work.
The original had a much more consistent tone and I think even my favorite part of the original feels a little too "done up" in this anniversary album version because it's the singing and it just doesn't work with that "clean" sound to it, if that makes any sense.
Never played this, and never heard this song before. Personally, the song didn't really catch my attention until the ending, so I totally agree with you. That bit was beautiful.
It is one of those song that slowly grow on you I feel as I have come to like it a lot now It suppose to replace Mechanized Memories as the final boss song for Verdict Day after all

this is widely considered one of the most popular AC songs lol.

wait I thought its Mechanized Memories for phase 1 and then Cosmos in phase 2? huh my memory is hazy
Nope, it was part of an alternative music sound pack for verdict day that replaces a ton of songs with new ones/ old ones
