    Learning to accurately water your fiddle leaf fig plant can be challenging!
    Moisture meters are used to tell you how wet your plant’s roots are by placing it in the soil. Using moisture meters can help you avoid root rot or having a plant that is not getting enough water.
    Traditional soil meters are difficult to use. Because of the challenges our fiddle leaf fig followers have, we created a moisture meter specifically for fiddle leaf figs. Learn how to use a moisture meter and how best to store it in between uses.

    Buying a moisture meter this past year has saved my plants. I tend to love my plants to death by over-watering, but this simple tool and better draining soil mix helped me have much happier plants.

    This is so helpful. I just got my first fiddle leaf fig and it was watered pretty well in the nursery, 1 weeks passed and the water meter is still high so having this moisture meter gives me some confidence to not over water her.

    Thanks for all your help, Claire. Ive been following you for a while now. I have 2 FLF’s. Both were gifts. Doing well except I’ve just noticed some of the little reddish dots you’ve spoken of on other videos. I did purchase your soil and the smart gravel. I also have your meter! It’s wonderful!!! I use it for everything but it stays close by my FLF’s. Thank you so much for all you helpful knowledge!❤😊

      Hi Connie, oh that is wonderful to hear! Check for signs of spider mites but if the small red spots on new growth are irregular shaped, it most likely is edema. For more support, you are welcome to join and post inside our helpful fiddle leaf fig community! fiddleleaffigplant.com/community

    Hi, what moisture level should we be aiming for after watering? And does this apply to all plants or do different plants need different moisture levels?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant  5 місяців тому

      All plants need different moisture levels and fiddle leaf figs like to not stay in too moist of soil. Best advice is to water when the top inches of soil are dry or when a moisture meter reads a 4 when it is inserted half way down into the soil, half way between the trunk and edge of the pot. Water thoroughly and ensure the water drains really well out the bottom drainage holes and remove any excess that collects. Happy Growing!

    I have regular soil t Ester and anther with long stick. I get different reading one dry anther high moist in the same place can you explain that please. Thanks 👋⚘️.

      Great question! Soil is not even all the way around a root ball. Sometimes there are pockets around the roots which may get less or more water than other areas. The most important thing to remember is to water when the top inches of soil are dry and to thoroughly soak the soil and ensure it is draining well out the bottom drainage holes. Remove any excess that collects. Happy Growing!

    I have a question. Am I able to propagate my fiddly fig in the winter. This summer he grew mighty tall and just touching my ceiling and I don't know if that's going to be a problem or if I should wait until the spring. Please help

      Hi Tylora, propagation can happen anytime so long as your indoor conditions are consistent year round. Happy Growing!

    I love this moisture meter. I watched your video on light but I thought you were going to tell us what the reading we should look for on this meter? Can you share that? I assume it might be 1000 or 2000 but am not sure. Thanks!

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant  9 місяців тому +2

      I'm so pleased to hear you love the moisture meter! A reading of less than 200 lux is dark, up to 400 lux is medium, and above 400 lux is bright. When you tally up the three readings from 9:00 a.m., noon, and 3:00 p.m., you should have at least a total of 600 or more for a healthy fiddle leaf fig. Hope this helps!

    I ordered this Fiddle Leaf Fig Soil Meter from Amazon using your link some while back. But mine doesn’t have two stems that insert the soil. Did I get a wrong meter?

      @@FiddleLeafFigPlant I am not a computer wizard. I also see from my invoice that I searched for, and believed myself to be, within the Fiddle Leaf Fig store on Amazon. The invoice shows the "shop" I was on is called House Plant Resource Center!! I am a repeat customer, having bought Fig food, shine, dirt directly from your website. I have cared for my "fig" for approx. 4-5 months. Your enjoyable videos have taught me how to care for my young fig. At your suggestion to name the plant, I named her after you. In fact, I took Claire's water reading this morning, so I am on the way to water her with distilled water & Fiddle Leaf Fig fertilizer. BTW Whenever I hear the words fiddle leaf fig, my brain hears "Fiddley-fig"!

    I read that I need to water fiddle leaf fig every 7-10 days. but what happens if even after 14 days the soil is still moist/wet? Do I need to wait more or just water it?

    • @FiddleLeafFigPlant
      @FiddleLeafFigPlant  Рік тому +2

      Great question, if your plant is taking weeks to dry, it could be the soil is holding onto too much moisture and/or the pot is not draining well. Only water when the top inches of soil are dry and a moisture meter reads a 4 or below.
