As a person who knows Russian, that was VERY bad Russian. If not for the English subtitles, I'd never decipher what Zemo was saying.
Winter Soldier's "I'm ready to answer/я готов отвечать" was spot on though.
Pretty sure that was intentional
Russian isn't Zemo's main language, while the Winter Soldier was "programmed" in Russian, so it makes sense for him to speak it fluently
I mean, you do see him practicing the words in the movie, but I agree. I haven't been studying Russian for a while, but even I noticed how the Russian could be better
@@OGrupxe yeah you can see him reading it off the book multiple times instead of once every few lines. so i agree i think it was intentional
They show him practicing in the hotel which implies Zemo doesn’t speak Russian so he was winging it . Bucky lived in Russia for decades while being brainwashed by Hydra do it would make sense his Russian is better
"Hello. Welcome to McDonald's. How can I help you?"
Zemo: "Mission report, December 16, 1991."
This is one of my favorite scenes in the MCU ever. Sebastian Stan is brilliant! The way Bucky’s lips tremble as he tries hard to resist the mind control! Just everything about this scene is GOLD! One of my favorite actors!!
The Journey that Sam and Bucky as well as Zemo went through is tremendous man. This just goes to show that the MCU is on point and the writers for The Falcon and The Winter Solider is doing a phenomenal Job developing these characters and interconnecting every movie and story point however big or small 😎👊
Well, they were doing a great job, but they’ve gotten sidetracked from developing their stories with the “bigger mission.”

They had to delay filming any of Sebastian’s scenes for this movie because his original arm no longer fitted him, neither did the one they made for his fitting for this movie because he bulked up to much. So Sebastian was over a week behind everyone else shooting wise while the props department took another cast and remade him another metal arm!
Daniel Bruhl as Barron Zemo was a great cast by Marvel!! (especially after watching him dance)😎
Honestly this scene hurts so much more after TFATWS 😔
Sebastian Stan was casted perfectly for this role. Can't imagine anyone else playing TWS
Kind of sad we'll never get to see the Winter Soldier again 😕. Such a badass character
Zemo then: bombing the United Nations and killing a king, then controlling the most deadly assassin in the world to kill people
Zemo now: breaking the internet and pulling an El Chapo
Why didn't bucky just go, "LA LA LA I CANT HEAR YOU LA LA LA LA LA NOPE CANT HEAR YOU" really loud to drown out Zemo?
Common sense man
1:58
Seb: Oh... Sorry
Bucky must not have had siblings.. Fingers in ears and "lalalala I can't hear you" is the usual protocol for this attack.
He actually did have several sisters. Supersoldiers have enhanced hearing, so unfortunately he would have heard everything.
@@sunnyhill7919
They do?
wonder what it was like for bucky, to transform into this whole other person just from a few words being spoken, i could tell he was afraid of the power the words had over him, but it's just my morbid curiosity
I was brainwashed by my abusive parents (and by the cult I was raised in), not to be a super soldier/assassin, but brainwashed nevertheless.
Here's what being conditioned feels like: a parent tells you "do this." You don't do it, you're punished. You do it but not immediately, you're punished for not obeying soon enough. You do it but ask why, you're punished for questioning authority. You do it immediately without question, no punishment. (When you're punished, it may happen immediately, or the authority may make you wait to increase your terror.)
Because you've been conditioned or programmed in this way, you learn very quickly that the most painless way through this is to obey immediately without question. As long as you do this, you'll be left alone, for the most part.
The reason I say "for the most part" is because sometimes if you misunderstand what is being commanded, or the authority suddenly changes their mind about the particular way this task is to be carried out (resulting in you accomplishing the task in the wrong way), you're likely to be punished for disobedience or direct defiance. This instills more fear of getting anything even slightly wrong or off, as doing so will result in pain. Even speaking in a potentially "disrespectful" tone can earn you punishment as well.
Basically over a course of time following orders, living in terror and complete submission, slowly your humanity and identity are stripped away and you are left as a mindless robot, ready to comply. Because at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is the authority you serve and the orders they give.
Because this environment is what it is, many traumatic situations happen and something your brain will automatically do what is called "dissociating." Your brain will register a threat, consciously or subconsciously, and try to find a way out (fight or flight reflex). But what happens when there is no way out? When you are unable to fight or escape, you will freeze and your brain will temporarily shut off your mind so that you can partially escape. That is "dissociating."
So eventually you get to the point where you not only consciously obey immediately without question, but you also subconsciously obey immediately without question even when your mind is switched "off."
When you come in contact with a threat or danger, your brain automatically tries to come up with a way to fight or escape. But after a prolonged period of time in which you can't escape, you will believe that you will never escape. So you do the next best thing: play dead, shut up, and do whatever you're told, because if you can't escape or fight, you might as well survive, because what else do you have left?
Here's what being triggered feels like: someone will say or do something that will remind you of that past conditioning, and instantly that triggers PTSD, all the trauma, all the pain and terror. The only way to get out of the situation, is to do what you had to do before to survive: dissociate, remove your mind from the situation. And because you've done it so many times, you might do it and not even be aware of it because it's a natural trigger. Now that you are vulnerable, subconsciously terrified, and numb, you are ready to comply.
I still feel the automatic readiness to comply in the unfortunate event when I'm around my family (which fortunately doesn't happen often). I'm like an entirely different person around my family, because they bring up that feeling of being under threat, and I want to automatically comply to "just get it over with" and avoid being punished. Not physically anymore, but mentally, emotionally, psychologically, they really know how to twist the knife.
Something my mom would make me do if I had disobeyed and she was going to physically punish me, she would say, "Ephesians 6:1" and I would recite back, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right." And then she'd punish me. Honestly just thinking "Ephesians 6:1" made my jaw start quivering and my mind automatically start to shut down.
Another thing associated with trauma and abuse is amnesia. Sometimes if events happen that are too traumatic to process, for the time being your brain may file those memories away deep in your subconscious to keep you safe, because remembering may undo the small bit of sanity/control that you still have left. Half of my childhood/upbringing I can't remember, there are so many gaps in my memory.
Sometimes you can also automatically black out during traumatic events as well. Small example: once when I was 8 my dad came up to my room (after I had stomped to it) and he grabbed me by my tiny arms and swung me down from my dresser. He got in my face and said something along the lines of "if you EVER try that again" (I can't remember what he said, the memory is fuzzy, but it was obviously a threat). But the strangest thing is that he was in my face, and the next second he was gone and my door was shut. And I have NO idea what happened in the in-between time. Obviously I had to have been existing during that time, but how I remember experiencing it was Dad there in my face, Dad gone door closed.
So after that long ass explanation -- based on my experience, I think when Bucky hears those words, his mind automatically begins to shut down and his heartless mindless counterpart, the Winter Soldier, takes over. Because he can't fight or escape Hydra, so he shuts down, does what needs to be done, and survives.
Another thing that might help you understand how Bucky was most likely broken into submission is "Biderman's Chart of Coercion." It's a list of tactics used to torture prisoners of war. A lot of domestic abusers (my parents included) unknowingly use the same tactics, which is just inherent to them I guess.
Anyways, yeah. Sorry this is so freaking long. I hope this helps explain.

I feel so bad for Bucky, he really trued to stop Zemo. If he’d succeeded he might have torn Zemo apart (or not) but he woulda given Steve the book. End of Civil War wap waaaaah
With such awful Russian pronunciation, Bucky would have never been triggered xD
The pronunciation is not even the main issue here.

I remember everyone including me was thinking Zemo activated Winter Soldier and Avengers were in danger, people were in danger and no one would support Steve anymore, but poor Bucky! He was in a great pain again!
Two of the best characters in the MCU
notice when he becomes the soldier again, the winter soldier theme plays
The best villains are always the ones without superpowers. Just a will of iron and the balls to see it through.
And now they have turned Zemo into a joke
Zemo in Civil War: "Avengers must die"
Zemo in TFATWS: "Turkish delight. :)"
💃💃
Buckys story is more tragic than wandas. I’m willing to debate
Both their stories are tragic, but if we're talking about who's been through the most trauma, yeah Bucky wins hands down.
I agree.

Good to know that bucky is afraid of freight cars
I feel like the Falcon Winter Soldier show is making Bucky look way less badass than this movie and the Winter Soldier movie. In both movies he was kicking Captain America's and Black Widow's asses. Now in the show he can't quite handle some regular people with no training that happened to get the super serum. And Walker is suddenly super badass... I hope they give Bucky some more cool stuff to do
He’s not the Winter Solider anymore, so obviously he’s not gonna act like an assassin.

Yes
However, that was not the Winter Soldier's mission that day. He had nothing to do with Kazakhstan on December 16, 1991. He was in the US to kill Howard Stark and his wife, and to secure a newly produced super-soldier serum. Still interesting to know that it was also the day of Kazakh independence
