This is a brilliant design. I like how alternating the orientation of the chain pieces causes them to encase the wires on both sides. I also like how the last link has a T nut built in to it so that you just have to rotate it into the T slot. Thank you for designing this and making it available to the world!
Thanks for the design and assembly video! This was my second print ever and it all works great. The motor mount didn't snap on, but it feels secure anyways. Keeping the cables contained with these chains just makes everything seem so much cleaner on the desk.
@@COKSAGLAM I had a little trouble twisting Kette_klein_unten 90 degrees to lock into the channel, but I turned it enough to keep it securely in place. Also in the Thiniverse description it says to print 2 x Kette groß unten, but I only see a use for 1.

The power supply on the Ender 3 V2 I just got is right in the way of where the end pieces would attach to the frame. They are still doing a good job keeping the cables from getting caught between the printing platform and the Y axis motor, which happened several times. I had no issue so far attaching the anchor piece to the motor assembly that someone else reported on the Ender 3 V2. I also had to reduce to printing 9 at a time or there were too many failures.

I've had my Ender 3 Pro for about 2 weeks now and it works great. I've gotten a couple of Scott Yu-Jan's suggested mods printed, including your chain design. However I'm having issues with the fitment. the motor mount doesn't seem to fit for me. It barely holds on to the extruder motor, and easily falls off. I've re-calibrated the stepper motors. Either there's something up with my printer, or they changed the design of the stepper motors since your video came out. Any ideas?
I got a problem with the motor part too, it just falls off. Seems the fit is too wide and doesn't stay in place (Ender 3 v2). The chain seems to be just fine tho. I might try to print it out later on 99% size or smth, see if it fits. Did you manage to solve your issue? If yes, how? (Was otherwise thinking using double sided tape or smth. .)

I Think that this video should be updated because Ender has updated the design of the printer, the cables are now coming from differernt places, and ther is not enough slack for the small cables
I am concerned that the two chains rubbing against each other could get caught on one another. Shouldn't the two chains not be touching each other at all?

In the thingiverse instructions you have the printer setup to 100% infil, but then you use 20% infill for each object, the 20% will override your 100% or what is the purpose of defining both infills in the instructions? am I missing something? I printed the unten pieces with 20% infill and the base snaps off when attempting to put it on the printer frame.
From the Thingiverse link: 1 x Motor Anschluss: 20% infill, 0.15 Layer, Height, no support. 1 x Kette klein unten: 20% infill, 0.15 Layer, Height, support on. 19 x Kette klein: 20% infill, 0.15 Layer, Height, no support. 28 x Kette groß: 20% infill, 0.15 Layer, Height, no support. 2 x Kette groß unten: 20% infill, 0.15 Layer, Height, support on.
The cables on my ender 3 barely long enough to fit straight up when the gantry is at max height so I can't even fit more than 18 chains on it so I can't attach it to the frame at the bottom :/
@@christopherdavies7403 Yeah I did, but if I'd attach it to the frame like in the video the gantry would go up and just rip the entire thing off when near max height. I checked in the mainboard housing but there also was no extra wire hidden in there. I just left it to the point where it's not attached to the frame.

X axis can't move with such mount. Also, chains are used to prevent cable from flexing at the connection point but your chains don't. They would probably get things worse. If they worked.

Very nice work mate. Thanks for your hard work.
doofe frage, aber warum soll kette groß unten 2x gedruckt werden?
What are the 3 gcode files for in the zip file when you download it?
on thingiverse you say to print two of 2 x Kette groß unten
but i cant figure out where the second one is supposed to go, is this a mistake?
There's 2 attached to the extrusion at the end of the large chain.
I only used one, and it seems to hold just fine.
Looks awesome! Any chance of an Ender 3 v2 version? From the comments below, it looks like the motor mounting doesn't fit.
Would PLA be good for printing those so they don't break?
I was thinking I'd print most parts of PLA for that reason, but the parts near the hot end might hold up better using something like ASA.
Put more plastic over extruder motor... its good for heat dissipation...
Maybe I need to try reprinting my motor mount, but it refused to snap in like yours does.

My part that goes under the extruder doesn’t stay on. It loosely hangs then falls off after about 5 mins.
how to calculate how many parts i should print ??
Nice design, but the motor peace needs more infill, it broke right when i tried to attach it
I am concerned that the two chains rubbing against each other could get caught on one another. Shouldn't the two chains not be touching each other at all?
That's not the case. They are a minimum of 4 cm away from each other so I never had this problem. Maybe in the video, it looks closer than they are.
does it fit Geeetech A10M ?
wont fit z-axis motor on ender 3 pro?
Wonderful job, thank you!
compatible ender 3 V2 ?
That part covering under the extruder motor won't block it's air to cool down? What did you observe in long time run?
never had an issue with this
If you look at the original thingiverse, there is a remix that creates a motor mount with cooling slots. I used it on my Ender 3 pro
will this work on ender s1?
How can I install an x axis chain along with this?
How many of each?
Trying to look for the same answer
I like this. Like, a lot.
When I print one piece it comes out perfect, but when I print all of them at once the quality is severely hindered. Guess it's one by one.... :/
just do 5 or 6 at a time in the middle of build plate, set initial layer speed to 10
