    1:40 One tip about those LCD board covers. After installing mine, I had an issue where the printer would intermittently beep and register a phantom keypress while printing. This is because one of the screws (nearest to the knob) actually grounds the PCB to the metal screen bracket and putting the screen between the screw head and the top surface of the circuit board stops this.
    The remedy was to bore out that mounting hole so that the screw could make electrical contact again. The rear cover will stay on perfectly well with just 3 screws.

      I just installed mine and have heard a couple presses. I was really hoping it wasnt a technology issue as the printer is only 2 days old. This makes me feel a lot better and thankyou for a solution.

      Had such an issue, but without touching screen at all. So no contact was broken. Solved it with ferrite bead on screen cable near the LCD.

    I have been using a few of these upgrades and I'll say this:
    -The upper filament guide while good, wears quickly from the passing filament, wearing a groove into it. It also flexes up and down due to the retraction and loosens in the extruded aluminum. It will have to be reprinted regularly.
    -the lower filament guide is just a press fit. It also wears quickly, loosening it and now it just falls off of the printer.
    -The pcb cover does not use stock screws so its useless if you dont have hardware on hand
    -The power supply baffle restricts airflow and the psu runs hotter due to it.
    -Extruder knob works well and i've had no issues.

    • @LearnAsWeGo
      @LearnAsWeGo  4 роки тому +4

      I can only comment from my experience and I haven't had any issues from wear on the filament guides, and the cover for my PCB does use stock screws

      Most of these are actually listed on the Creality website (with links to the thingyverse files) as printable upgrades. My first prints off my machine were a lot of these (namely the cable chain, ribbon clips, Yoda extruder knob, upper guide, and a few other things not on here like a upper z-screw guide and hand crank, bed handle, x and y quick adjustment knobs, and a few other things.

      @@indroneswetrust1 that makes no sense that would increase the price tag plus this are entry level printers anyone can use them and in my opinion is better to start decent enough to print upgrades why? Cause 1 you can personalize it as much as you can, 2 it lets you learn by actually using the thing, plus by you downloading or designing your own part you don’t have to rely on them for new pieces.

    Having a 1 Kg spool rolling on top of your printer just rocks the printer with a lot of unnecessary movement. So I printed a mount that attached to the left leg to have the spool feed directly into the extruder. This also eliminates the need for filament guides.

    • @enosunim
      @enosunim 2 роки тому

      Actually had no real problem with that from the beginning as I printed some washers to make original springs stable. But I install clicking knobs for easier calibration. Do a few clicks here and there. The main problem is that table bends after heating complete. Mine have a hill in the center and center left and center right parts. I solve this by making first slice higher, like 0.3mm, and using 125% flow. Also ordered those yellow springs and will try them, to see if they will change table bending.

      @@LearnAsWeGo What do you mean that UA-cam punishes creators? This is not about UA-cam adding any links, but about you the creator of the video adding links, because it improves the video! I promise you that you won't lose viewers just because you add links to the video description. But you are going to lose subscribers if you don't (or at least get fewer new subscribers). Look at how other UA-camrs are doing; they are adding links. For the viewer it is only annoying that you don't add those links, because it makes it much more of a hassle to check out the models, which I guess is your main intention with adding those Thingiverse numbers anyway, right?

    It is overall bad to add a cover to the fan, because it diminishes the heat dispersion capacity of it. I wouldn't do it. Same can be said for the mainboard cover, altough in this case it provides it a protection from dust, so I think it's worth. (remember it still has to be cleand in time to time)

    Thanks for the vid. I still dont get why people use bearings on the fillament holder. If the filament rolls too easy, it can roll too far and tangle up. Better is to use a good filament extruder without bearings in my opinion.. I do like the feet dampers though!

    the psu part is insane when you fit the first screw and rotate the cover to the place for the second screw, the fan rotates and the hole comes out. It's difficult but you need to turn it holding the screwdriver on the first screw to rotate the cover to the place..

    • @Gameboygenius
      @Gameboygenius 4 роки тому

      I had the same experience so I ended up unmounting the PSU and holing it side down so I could align the fan easier. Two things could be different. 1) He could be using a different model for the fan shroud. The one I went for had slightly too small holes so the screws threaded into the shroud, causing it to move the fan around the screw instead of rotating freely. 2) There might be some other retaining mount inside the MeanWell branded PSU on the Ender-3 Pro preventing it from moving unless both screws are out and causes the fan to fall off. Mine is a non-pro and has the cheaper power supply.

    0:48 what really caught me off guard is that you didn't include the ability to have it facing down, since that's one of the only ideal ways to install it without remixing the print or adding new configurations to the PS box.

    First I really like your videos. It has helped me a lot as a beginner into 3D printing...
    How did you print the spool holder - is that with supports? The recommendation is to print all parts vertically but I think the main part (holder) can best be printed horizontally. Sorry for the question if it is too basic. I'm just starting with 3D printing.

    • @LearnAsWeGo
      @LearnAsWeGo  3 роки тому +1

      i just rotate the parts so there is always a flat part on the bed, spool did have supports that are hard to remove so be careful as i broke the first

  • @benjo145
    @benjo145 3 роки тому +3

    I opted to use the rear chain mount with groove covers, i think it looks nicer. i also chose the motor mount at the top rather than have the chain clip onto the wires. i think it just looks better and more secure. i also decided to not include the PSU shroud as i felt it was taxing the fan more, and that it wasn't able to expel as much exhaust air. and i am concerned about overheating on long prints.

    • @LearnAsWeGo

    U have to be careful with some of these I personally don't rate cable chains ( just tidy your shit , the fan muffler for the psu can be an issue sometimes as well depending on the design filament guides aren't really needed either I do rate using the z spacer though made a massive difference to my z axis lead screw movement was loads before installing the space now it's minimal at best I like the LCD cover probably my fave personally

    those shock absorber feet are actually pretty useless. While they do cut down on noise transferred into your table, they also make the machine wobble a bit which will cause a lot of failed prints or in the least printing errors as your machine will rock. You can get the same result with a couple of blocks of insulation foam stuck under the feet and be a lot more stable.

    It would be cool to see more original parts for the ender 3, pretty much all ender 3 searches in youtube end up being exactly these upgrades that you can already find at thingiverse.

    • @jofagoma
      @jofagoma 4 роки тому

      @@LearnAsWeGo Great decision! Fusion 360 is the way to go!
      I am a suspect, I work on my ender 3 to make it as silent as possible and benchmark it to get the best out of it.
      For me is all about max performance. You could create, for example, a spool holder that follows the Z axis to diminish the footprint of the printer.
      Also, something that is lacking in the youtube space is the ender 3 with dual axis... there's few projects show here and there but I think it's a must have. The single Z threaded rod is not enough and even creality admits it with the new CR6-SE...
      Also, cable management within the 2040 extrusions would be something interesting to see and with that, some LEDs for the printer that are subtly implemented...
      There are many things you could do besides the classic upgrades. It takes tinkering and a lot of time but I feel that it will always bring that joy of accomplishment when you succeed =)
      Also, add this to your printer =)
