@@A.C.71 Can you hear your gas valve click open and let out some gas? If yes, then it's likely that the board is bad. It could be a loose wire connection too so I would take a look at the wire going to the ignitor as well.
I never comment but thank you so much. Company tried to charge me $5,500 to replace a control board, igniter, and capacitor. I bought all the parts for $150!
Yeah there are CROOKS out there for sure ..been there done that that is why I am here do not trust them, AND this man is very very intelligent with very good tips. Best on the internet
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I'm a 67 year old woman who replaced the ignitor on my furnace. My son, family and friends are quite impressed that I did it on my own. I couldn't have done it without you. Thank you for taking the time to make these great videos to educate us. You saved me $250!
Its so simple and only took me 10 minutes. But the tech not counting parts which is only $25 wanted $400 to do the job. It is not inline with other costs for service
Absolutely fantastic video, my guy! Informative, educational, well spoken, no bs. No stupid intro scene or music. No fluff and making people wait to the end to find out the solution. I wish more DIY home videos were like this. You're saving people money, man. Keep doing what you're doing!
I just want to say that I’m a renter. And my heater stop working 3 weeks ago. My landlord has been told and hasn’t send someone to fix it. I took matters in my hands and decided to at least try to fix the issue… three videos later and a my husband doubting me. I was able to get my heater back on. I’m not freezing anymore. 🙏 you are a blessing to a lot of people. Thank you very much for all of your videos. 🙏❤️
Sounds like you need a new landlord. But I would like to say - and maybe you already know this - you can be held liable for work you do on that property and it can also be a breach of contract that is specifically in your rental agreement which leaves you open for possible penalties and eviction (even later when the landlord decides to use it as an excuse) depending on your state's law. House burns down 6 months later and they'll try to come after you - whether it was something you did or not. Obviously if you have to say 'yeah I'm untrained and I did fix the xyz at one point' then you have become a suspect in the cause of the fire and a judge might allow him to bring suit against you. Again - maybe it had nothing to do with what you did but it still opens you up. It's really best to use the legal channels you have to force them to do what they are supposed to. Hope you don't feel like my advice is condescending but the kind of landlord that doesn't get a heater fixed for 3 weeks is exactly the kind of landlord that will pull this kind of BS. I could tell you a dozen stories on things like this that become a major headache for the renters. Tread carefully especially with that kind of landlord.
Thank you for making this video, for going into great explanations, and demonstrating. I am a middle aged female who likes to think I can do repairs on my own. And because of this video I was able to fix my furnace by replacing the ignitor after determining that was the cause of my problem. I would NOT have had the confidence to do the repair without YOUR help from this video. This is the type of "content creator" I wish my kids would watch....I am beyond grateful for your time, knowledge, and ability to share with all of us in need.
Nice to see somebody with a healthy functioning brain in their head. Very good video and specific information on diagnosing a failed or failing hot surface ignitor. Thank you for posting the video and keep up the great work!
Thanks so much for this video. It is a super clear explanation of how an ignitor works and how to troubleshoot it. My furnace was not making heat and I was on the verge of looking for an HVAC company to come out and fix it but that would have undoubtedly cost me hundreds of dollars and days of delay. This video showed me that my ignitor was bad and I was able to fix it myself. I used a voltmeter to confirm that AC was reaching the ignitor and that the resistance of the ignitor was zero. My furnace is a Trane and I was only getting a max of about 3.5 volts AC before it stepped down to 1.2 volts. The repair was actually quite simple, just replace the ignitor. Thanks again for this excellent video!!! You're a rock star!!!
I’ve never commented before but I am a long time fan! Just wanted to let you know you saved me $1700 today (repair estimate from techs)! Two different techs (mostly) misdiagnosed the problem when it only needed a $30 igniter which I put in myself using your video. ( One minor thing: I had to strip and pigtail the wires because the connector didn’t fit-wasn’t entirely sure whether it mattered which wire on the igniter went to black and which to white. Ended up just taking a guess. Anyway it worked! lol)
This video was so helpful to me yesterday. We woke up to a freezing cold house, so I started searching videos on furnace ignitors. This one popped up first, and it was so spot on! My ignitor did have a crack in it, and it was simple to fix. This video helped me diagnose it. Finding an ignitor, however, wasn't so easy. Word of warning to anyone thinking they'll just pop over to their nearby Home Depot and grab one. It's not always that easy. Thanks, Jay!
I've been through so many of your videos over the last 6 hours trying to figure out my furnace problems, and they're all fantastic and easy to follow. Everything was in working condition, as you described, but the ignitor never started glowing. I was about ready to throw in the towel and call someone when the wife suggests, "Maybe the thermostat needs new batteries." And after I've taken your entire video crash course to become an HVAC expert, the problem was 2 dying batteries. I just assumed all thermostats were hardwired.
A tip....Don't know if this pertains to your house or not, but good to know either way! A lot of thermostats are hard wired and have spots for batteries that are never used. If a shady heating and cooling company comes over, I've seen them put batteries into a hard wired thermostat. Then months later those batteries start to die, your thermostat doesn't kick on and you have to call them back. Even though your thermostat was hard wired to begin with....It's a shady practice I've seen firsthand on multiple occasions.
Thank you so so much for all your videos on how to fix the furnace. We were able to save over $500 for replacing the ignitor, the pressure switch and the flame sensor.
Thank You! No idea what went wrong until I watched your video. Great job with the thorough explanation and HD video so we can see what's up. My igniter went bad and replaced it. You are awesome
Thank you for the videos. I had a quote for $200 to replace my furnace ignitor. I watched your videos and I purchased an ignitor from Amazon for $40. I actually replaced it myself. Took me about 30 minutes to complete the job since I cleaned the sensor as well. You saved me $160 and I learned something new.
Thank you sooooo much. I checked the igniter. Had 110 volts going to it. Removed it and found crack. Local shop had a replacement in stock for $60. Works great and warm house feels so good. Couldn’t wait for delivery from online retailer. We’re happy.
Thank you! I pulled my igniter out and it’s cracked like you said. I ordered one and it’s on the way. You’re a really good person to make these videos for people. I just lost my job so you’re saving me!
I appreciate this video. Tom Drexler came out to check my A/C and just happened to somehow remove a wire from the igniter. Thanks to you I was able to diagnose the problem, restore the connection, and save myself another visit from an expensive company.
Thanks so much for your repair videos! I have the 3rd type igniter as shown, specifically the type in the lower photo. (The bi-metallic strip inside had gotten "corroded" causing the furnace to short cycle.) I replaced the igniter, all was well. Next morning, ffffttt, no pilot light! Turns out, the 3 wire plug was not fully seated, hence no pilot! After a quick unplug and re-plug, all is well again! A friend also loves your videos and was able to correctly diagnose a faulty control board! You Sir are a UA-cam gem!
Life saver, I ran down recommended list of what the issue could be, which made me believe it was the igniter device, I couldn’t check the voltage but took the chance and pull it out. Boom clear as day crack, got a new one for $30. Thanks you for the help, learned a lot
Watched a few of your videos and was able to pin point issue to bad igniter and just replaced that and everything worked as expected. Your channel definitely helped saved a few hundred or more bucks reading other comments. Thank you.
I ended up buying 2 diff igniters from amazon Duralight and Cimatek something but both had diff Ohm rating when tested using multimeter. 1 gave 110 while another gave 75, and reading from online placed the one with lower rating
I was so bummed about having to call a heater repairman out tomorrow because of the money.. and then wow! Your videos! Took me watching 3 of them to get to the right one here, but learned so much and found out I have a bad igniter that I'll be replacing on my own tomorrow! Thank you so much! Someone mentioned you were doing God's work and that's so true!
Excellent. My turn for a failed igniter today and this video told me what I needed to know to diagnose and fix it, with no fluff and the perfect amount of detail.
Exact problem I had. Was getting the 123 V AC at the electrical connector for the igniter but igniter was not lighting up. Replaced with new igniter and good to go. What would have probably cost 150+ for someone to come out and fix, cost 45 bucks and took 5 mins to replace. Great intuitive video. Also, as someone else mentioned, open box of new igniter before you leave the store. The igniter is somewhat delicate. Dropped the first one I bought and it shattered. And also, don't touch the igniter element with bare hands as the oil on our hands can shorten the life of the igniter.
Thank you so much! My family came back from a weekend trip to a cold house. In the past I might tough it out but I have a 3 month old now so I got worried. I didn't even know furnace ignitors were a thing, let alone having one in our furnace. I'm a total noob. Found a local shop with the part, replaced as instructed, and my family now has heat! You really made a difference in this family's life, thank you so much again
Excellent video! We woke up to 27 degrees and the downstairs furnace not working. After watching two of your videos it was apparent that the ignitor wasn’t working. Tested it and sure enough it was dead. Once pulled I could see a crack in it. Ran to the store and got a new one. All in all we were back up and running by 9am. Thank you!
Thank you. Svc Tech wanted $1500 minimum (Inducer Motor + Hot Surface Igniter + Labor) to "start" diagnosis, but was recommending total HVAC replacement $10K. Looks like I will be able to skate by with a few hours of research and $21 for a new HSI.
I would report them to the Better Business Bureau and leave negative comments on Google and Yelp. We need to speak up against those trying to take advantage.
It's been said by many but THANK YOU for your very clear explanation! Because of your video, I was able to really understand what was going on and come to an educated guess that my ignitor was out. 5 calls to different supply stores (many don't sell to homeowners) and I finally got it replaced and working! Very much appreciated. Hope you're doing well!
You are correct, in Commifornia, I went to 3 HVAC stores and they told me that they only cell to a certified licensed technician not the homeowners. It's freezing cold here and I ended up ordering through Amazon. Time to move out of this state.
Thank you so much! I was always confused about how ours worked because it's different than the pilot light ones I grew up with. This video was so helpful and now I feel confident that I can tell what's going on with my furnace
Just great info. Nothing wrong with calling for a repair, but too many people in the service industry are just plain shady and even if they are not, a lot of things can be fixed by yourself and rather than pay 250 dollars for 10 minutes of work installing a 25 dollar part, you can do it yourself. Plus, you get a feeling of accomplishment that's worth far more than you saved...almost.
This video save me a lot of money! It was presented in a professional easy to understand manner. I'd like to add a couple things the high efficency Trane - American Standard are 80 volts AC and the voltage wasn't on the wires if the ignitor isn't plugged in. Without it plugged in the meter jumped up for a brief bit then dropped to zero. I used the back stab method that the presenter described to check the voltage.
I just wanted to say thank you for such a descriptive video, with good angles. I was able to repair my furnace by changing out defective ignitor. Great video
I had my furnace blowing cold air so i check on your video and saw the picture of the bad ignitor you shown then I found mine has that same bit, so ordered an new one for Rheem furnace from Amazon with identical shape and connector for next day delivery and installed the new one, fairly easy and was back to business, thanks so much👍
Your video instructions are the best I've seen...your one on hot water heaters was quite excellent and so is this one ... also your camera person does a perfect job. Thank you so much for this tremendous help.
Thank you so much for your channel! This past summer I replaced my blower motor, blower wheel, capacitor, transformer and control board using your videos at a parts cost of $800. Just so happened when I bought the control board it came with an igniter. My heat went out yesterday, and I used your videos to trouble shoot!!! It was the igniter, and it took me 20 minutes to take out the old one and install the new one!!! I love you!! You are the best at explaining all the important details!!
Good description and instructions, but what helped more was the demonstration of a good vs broken igniter. Watching when it glowed vs not helped verify a broken part. Interesting thing was my heater did not have a part number on it so the other checks for resistance helped select a replacement
I really dont understand how good very direct, informative videos actually get over 100 dislikes. Thank you, I learned a lot of info without having to search for ever.
Jay, I can't thank you enough for the in-depth video you made about furnace not igniting. You're a God send my friend. After watching your video I ventured a try at pulling the ignitor, and you were right. It was covered in carbon. I cleaned it with fine steel wool and placed it back in. Turned on the furnace and it worked like a charm. I reckon you saved me a couple hundred dollars. Thank you!
I wanted to take a minute to say THANKS! I watched most if not all of your videos yesterday in reference to troubleshooting why my furnace wasn't igniting & this one was the answer! (ok..I did replace the filter too). Thanks for providing decent, detailed videos on how to safely find the problem & fix it! I know I saved a dollar or two, I just told my wife it was probably a couple hundred to look like a real hero!
Thank you so much for great directions and explanations!!! I figured out what was going on with my furnace!!! I fixed it and now I'M A ROCK STAR MAMA!! The first time cold of of the season will not win!!! Thank you, again!!
Top Tip: Make sure you pull the new igniter out of the box before you leave the store to make sure it’s not broken. Sometimes you get back to the furnace only to find that the new igniter is in pieces.
I had to replace a blower motor for a mini split unit. I removed the old one just to find out that the new motor was is pieces and couldn’t finish the job that day. It came straight from the factory. I now inspect all my replacement parts before taking apart the failed components. Good tip
Mr T, great advice for the checking the part at the store, also as a added bonus bring your multimeter with you and check it right there in front of the SALESMAN, they would not mind at all, & will save you time and hassle for the back and forth trips that you might make.... 👍😏
Thank you so much for this video. My furnace wasn't working today. Yes it was the igniter. I was able to switch it out and now we have heat. Your detailed advice and instructions saved me a ton of money. I really appreciate your help with this video. Thank you again from my nice warm house!
Thank you for the help. It was as cold inside as it was outside. Your explanation was very easy to follow, now I have heat and saved a lot of money on a service visit.
I figured my igniter was out, but to save tons of time I'm glad I can check online for videos like this as a good reference tool so I'm not wasting time on a part that isn't broken. Thanks for this excellent video!
Thanks so much for this video. My furnace went out this morning and I had it fixed before the family got up. Very informative and explains how to identify the bad component.
i dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost the password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Desmond Fox i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thanks to this amazing video my husband and I fixed the furnace 😄😁. It was the Ignator. We also changed the limited switch or whatever the name is 😂. We just spend 116 dollars to make it work Yesssss. We just saved 800 dollars. Thanks a lot for this amazing videos. God bless you.
Excellent I will go back down and see if I hear the click and the sound of gas, no one really mentions this take take a meter and check it or if it does not come on it is probably the ignitor and replace it. I was thinking I am sure it could be something else to check before I order an ignitor Thanks ! P.S. Thanks for the warning about damaging and back testing while testing and not to let it drop. You are amazing :-)
You are a wonderful person. I just watched a couple of your videos and was educated on what should be working. My heat works again. No big bill had to be paid.
Thank you so so so so much! you are the greatest! I follow your instructions to do the diagnosis, confirm the Ohm reading was wrong even I couldn't see the crack myself, took it to the shop to order parts, the sales guy saw the discolour portion of the ignitor right away. long story short,, replace and clean my burners alone the way with your other video instruction. Once again, Thank you so much, God bless.
Thank you! Exactly what was happening to our furnace. No glow, but everything else worked. Swapped it with a universal ignitor and it worked! Ordered the real part but it it was nice to have heat while we wait for the real part to arrive. And Ducane are jerks. They made it really hard to access, this ignitor but we got it!
👍👍JAY .. ME & MY FAMILY THANK U - it was 24 F yesterday and you had someone whom had some electrical experience (3rd yr Apprentice level 30 yrs ago in H.S.).solve a serious problem with a replacement ignitor👍👍
Thank you DJ ALLDAY! I appreciate you leaving comments under the videos you watched and am happy to hear that you were able to get your furnace fixed! Stay warm!
Thanks for the very good video. There's is soooo much useless drivel out there on youtoob, it was my good fortune to stumble upon yours. Just in case anyone else out there has the same oddball problem I had, here's the story: I have the intermittent igniter style (didn't know that until I watched your video) It was clicking continuously, trying to keep the pilot lit long enough for the burner to light, but no gas was flowing to the main burners, so the intermittent pilot would shut off, the cycle again and again. I first assumed I had a bad heat sensor but your video gave me the critical clue: the inducer blower motor was not coming on when the thermostat call came in. I had just replaced the inducer blower motor ~8 months prior, so I didn't suspect it might be part of the problem. But it was indeed binding (not the little squirrel cage fan but the motor itself) and could not get started. No blower, no draft, so the pressure (or vacuum, whatever) switch would not allow the main gas valve to open.
Removed the inducer motor, took it completely apart, confirmed the armature was rubbing against the field magnet. Bearings were fine. Reassembled making sure to torque the screws evenly so the bearings were better aligned, and armature did not bind. Voila. Blower motor starts on command, intermittent pilot ignites and stays lit, gas comes on and all is good and warm. Who knew? I wouldn't have picked up on this (now) obvious clue without the video.
This video is where your other videos led me, let me just say, your the man! Ive learned so much from you, so Thank you very much! I spent literally all day watching your videos over and over trying to diagnose my Coleman Furnace Model# DGAH, and none of your troubleshooting categories seemed to fix my problem. I had done everything you've showed, from checking the operation functions to checking ohms and voltage on everything and everything seemed to check out voltage/ohms...I started off taking the blower motor out and giving it a good cleaning(it needed it for sure) then check the inducer motor which was making a horrible squeeling noice. I popped off the cover and put wd40 on fan post, that quieted er right up, replaced the cover and dug deeper...I then cleaned the flame sensor, which did have a bunch of carbon on it but the hot surface igniter was still glowing bright, just no flame. The status light kept blinking one blink every 2-3 seconds which on the panel indicates "ignition failure". The orface appeared to be clean and i could hear and feel the valve open for the propane to be sent into the chamber. Next, I cleaned up the burner with a copper bristle brush then hit it with some forced air, from my air compressor. Still nothing, no flame but could hear everything functioning properly. Only one of your trouble shooting suggestions (Checking the ohms at the hot surface igniter at room temperature) "for a correct reading", worked for me, but not in the sense you might think. My furnace had gone out 2 nights ago so room temp, it was not. I had the bright idea of using a hair dryer to heat up the gas valve mechanism and line in and proceeded to reset the furnace. Only then did any sort of flame start to come into the chamber and actually try to ignite. I did this twice with the hair dryer and BAM!!! She lit. Blew my mind... Im guessing there must be some build up in the either the gas valve mech or the line? Any input would be phenomenal, and again Thank You so so so much!!!!
Wow :) You are one persistent and focused man! You did about 10 times more than most homeowners would do. And to be honest I have never heard of anyone trying to heat up the gas valve with a hair dryer! Amazing :) I will have to try that some day! I am glad my videos helped but you totally figured that one out yourself. I may have suspected blockage in the gas valve but wouldn't have thought to heat it up. Those gas valves do get plugged up sometimes but that is why there is a drip leg on the gas line before it goes into the furnace. (You can try taking the drip leg off and see if it has a bunch of gunk in it) Is your propane tank running a little low by chance? I know that when they start running out of fuel, the bottom of the tank has a lot of debris that can plug stuff up. I remember them teaching us at school that one should never allow a propane tank to completely run out because that will likely start plugging up your gas lines. (I don't work with propane furnaces very often so am not sure if this is common knowledge among homeowners) Also, I don't know if you checked this but is it possible that one of the manifold orifices was plugged?
@@WordofAdviceTV lol I try to keep costs to a minimal and youtube college helps out quite alot lol and I wasnt gonna take no for an answer. The tank did run out around spring time, well just under 5%, i know its not good under 8%. But, with propane a little over $2/gal with a 300 gal tank, its a pretty penny. I litterally just had it topped off 4 days ago, with the -15° in the forecast for a week, if not longer. I figured it was now or deal with frozen water lines later and Ive been there and got that tshirt, it is no fun. I Thank you again. I will check n clean the drip leg and the manifold orfices in the a.m., if they need it, which with my luck, they probly will.
So an update with bad and good news I woke up the next morning and the furnace had been running none stop, even after the call for heat was not present. I turned the thermostat down all the way and flipped the selector lever to off. The furnace shut off. Waited a bit, for it to cool down, then removed the orfice, burner, hot suface ignitor and flame sensor. The orfice was filled with vasoline, i cleaned that out and inspected what i could see in the gas valve. Not that i could do much with the gas valve, as it has special screws for which i dont have a bit for, it looked clean. The backing plate, which the flame rolls off of and out of the burner, the back of it had a good 2-3mm of black sute on it. I had thoroughly cleaned that the day it quit working. Cleaned it again. Then reassembled everything. Sent the call for heat to see if it would re-ignite. It didnt light and it gave me the status code of ignition failure, again. I tried the hair dryer on the gas valve again, it tried to fire once and then nothing, it wouldnt fire. Again, everything was functioning properly. I removed the gas valve put it upside down, figuring that when i heated it up, I must have clogged something inside, and put the heat from the hair dryer on it for a good 5 mins with the gas valve upside down. *Caution for those who do try this, the gas valve will be extremely HOT, use a cloth or something to handle it to Reassemble* Well it didnt light. I just gave it time and let it sit for about an hour or so, and it cycled through its 3 failures and its next try, it lit! Since then it has been functioning properly. Next winter, ill have the wood stove installed and use that, way easier lol. But im a happy camper here, for now lol. Take care.
@@jeremyhoule9221 Oh boy.. Sounds like you had a busy night! Thank you for coming back with a detailed update! I wonder if the gas valve is just defective or is not getting power? I would just replace the gas valve.
Awesome video! I’m watching this 1 year later and this is exactly what’s wrong with mine. Very detailed and helped me diagnose and change it out. Thanks!
Thanks for this information. You confirmed my whole troubleshooting process from start to finish. Your igniter was a lot easier to remove than mine will be. Just ordered the igniter and awaiting the pain of a rear access screw on the igniter assembly. 🤔🥺
Amazing!! Thank you!! I was in a pinch- no access to parts, and I just pulled the igniter out and cleaned it up and sorta patched the break. Furnace is working now, and hopefully works til I get my hands on a new igniter!
You're welcome! Glad to hear you were able to get it going. It is also possible to light the furnace manually if you need to: ua-cam.com/video/-bMz1En0DSg/v-deo.htmlsi=xKXYfUF0jpfcRTGv
Thanks, clear good video. I will be doing myself next time. It cost a bunch to have installed one and looked pretty easy. 1st failed in 6 years. nd one is in now. Haha (the enduing)
Thank You very much because you help me save about 2 to 4 hundred dollars and by watching your video's on trouble shooting and diagnosing the problem I was able to clean out the pilot and the igniter I was able get heat working again and I was able to save this money.
Thank you!!! I figured out my issue! I had to light it with a BBQ lighter for the night, but first thing tomorrow I'm tearing it apart and buying a new igniter
Your video was awesome!!! You saved my life with a very detailed video. My furnace is like yours and I replaced the igniter this morning and it work!!😀. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for this informative video 😊 I watched your other video and I was able to get heat by turning on the igniter manually and get heat in the middle of the night while I couldn’t get the parts right away. ❤
Thanks man... with your help I was able to diagnose and replace the igniter and even managed to clean the flame sensor with a dollar bill! = ) Thank You so much for helping get the heat back on in my mothers home. She sends her Warmest Wishes! = )
This guy is spot on. I replaced the flame sensor , cleaned the burners, changed the filters which worked a couple of years ago when my trane xb would not stay lit. Just beware if u have a nest thermostat with a low internal battery, if u still can’t get it to stay lit, pull the thermostat off the wall and charge it up for an hour or so - - after that it was good to go.
Do you have your blue Common power wire hooked up to your nest? That's supposed to charge its internal lithium battery. If you do and it still went dead, you can replace the internal lithium battery.

I'm not getting 120v does this mean my motherboard is bad?
@@A.C.71 Can you hear your gas valve click open and let out some gas? If yes, then it's likely that the board is bad. It could be a loose wire connection too so I would take a look at the wire going to the ignitor as well.

@@donstaples4812 That is almost never, ever part of a law. Not paying rent will get you evicted.
You're very welcome! Thank you for the nice comment. I am happy to hear you were able to get the furnace fixed yourself! Stay warm this winter!
Thank you for such a detailed explanation. I replaced my ignitor myself. When I was quoted $400 I did it myself for $60. Much appreciated!
You def just saved me $300-$400, watched your video and was able to pick one up local and get my tenants heat fixed quickly. Thanks so much!
Thanks replaced it myself tonight. 2 different companys wanted $500 to fix it. Bought part for $25 and did it myself
I did the same thing before! Lol!!!
!!!! YOU RULE, I AM UP AND RUNNING AGAIN !!! My cost was 38$ to fix it. You literally warmed my heart!
Where do you buy a new igniter?
@@drgta6how do you order the part
@@kenneishachildress6250 I found mine on Amazon.
This is why UA-cam was made! Thank you for saving tons of people money sir!
Thank you so so much for all your videos on how to fix the furnace. We were able to save over $500 for replacing the ignitor, the pressure switch and the flame sensor.
Qqqaaaaaaa
Thank You! No idea what went wrong until I watched your video. Great job with the thorough explanation and HD video so we can see what's up. My igniter went bad and replaced it. You are awesome
Thanks for the help, you saved me the cost of a service call. Replaced the ignitor for $20.
Thank you! Just fixed my furnace. I replaced the igniter and works now. You’re a life saver since it’s 5° right now
Excellent. My turn for a failed igniter today and this video told me what I needed to know to diagnose and fix it, with no fluff and the perfect amount of detail.

Thank you for the insights here as I was able to help a neighbor get his furnace back up and running for his family.
Thank you. Your way of explaining is easier to follow. I absolutely know that I need an igniter and not a gas valve. Saving money
I know nothing about furnace, but I am watching your demonstration, I am able to replace my broken igniter myself. Thanks so much.
I got mine up and working again after watching your video. You helped me save a lot of money. Thank you!!!!!
I just wanted to say thank you for such a descriptive video, with good angles. I was able to repair my furnace by changing out defective ignitor. Great video
Thank you for this. This video allowed me to fix my furnace in a few hours. It's -17 degrees C today, so this was a big help.
That's great! I'm happy to hear that the videos helped you fix the furnace multiple times! Thank you for leaving a comment, stay warm!
They took our jobs!
Lots of help, quick and to the point. No rambling on and on. Thank you.
Prob dislikes from furnace techs lol
Thank you for this video and the others. I went through and did the checks you outlined and eventually replaced the ignigtor. Problem solved
You're the man,....just did exactly what you did in the video and determined my igniter is BAD!!! about 122V in, and then measure ohms at open.
Thank you!
Just curious if it's still working? I heard it's not good to get finger oil on the. How's it working this year?
Helped me troubleshoot/fix my furnace QUICKLY. No BS, straight to the point content. I like it. Earned this sub 💪🏻💪🏻
Replaced a few things and just put in the new igniter and thank you so much for this video. We have heat again

Thanks to your video I was able to troubleshoot my furnace n fix a broke igniter!!!
Thanks again!
Thank you. Saved me a lot of headache and a cold night.
Just replaced my ignitor with help from your video. Thank you so much!

@Desmond Fox it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account!
@Christopher Marcelo Glad I could help =)
Thanks man, you are saving me hundreds in repairs that I can easily do myself!
Very helpful. My ignighter went out and we are looking at subzero temps this weekend. So my family and I thank you very much.
I'm happy to hear you were able to get the furnace fixed! Thank you for commenting, stay warm!!
Great! Glad to hear there was no damage done to the wallet :) Stay warm!
Great video - Watched about 6 of your videos to help troubleshoot my furnace issue and now I know the issue and how to fix it. Thank you so much sir.
Thank you so much. Ours started clicking and turning on and off. It’s -6 here and your video helped us get our furnace back on.
Thanks a million! Just replaced my igniter and furnace is working great.
So an update with bad and good news
I woke up the next morning and the furnace had been running none stop, even after the call for heat was not present. *Caution for those who do try this, the gas valve will be extremely HOT, use a cloth or something to handle it to Reassemble*
Well it didnt light.
This is amazing detail. Thank you so much. I'm struggling to get my ignitor to glow. Bought a new one and nothing. So I'm at a loss.
Just fixed my furnace thanks to this video. Thank you man!

So clear and to the POINT!!!! I hope I can determine whether I have a BAD IGNITER like you explained .... Thanks
Thank you!!! Omg my heater is working now. Got a replacement igniter and it's running great!
Thank you for this extremely straightforward and useful video - very helpful and easy to understand!
Checking your other videos now for what to do if my ignitor is receiving intermittent voltage without 120 consistency
Mine also shoots up to 120 then go back to zero is this normal?
Awesome video! Solved my problem, thanks so much! Saved me a service call and probably a few hundred bucks.
Amazing!!
Thanks for another awesome tutorial, I was able to quickly figure out that my igniter was cracked thanks to you!! Keep up the great work!
THANKS for helping us out. Your video gave me the assurance to do it my self. It was very easy.
Thanks, clear good video. I will be doing myself next time. It cost a bunch to have installed one and looked pretty easy. 1st failed in 6 years. nd one is in now. Haha (the enduing)
Great video, easy to follow and understand. Good tips too. Got mine working in about an hour and I got a chance to clean it out.
You have done an amazing job and the way you explain things is so easy to follow and Thanks for sharing all tips & tricks.
That's what I like to hear! :) Thank you for leaving a comment, stay warm!
I just wanted to say thank you for this this was my exact problem. Took me all day to get here but the help is imeasurable. the part is in the mail
Thank You so much for helping get the heat back on in my mothers home.
My Ecobee thermostat doesn't use batteries. A wire from the transformer powers it.
@@crand20033 It probably still has a lithium battery like the nest. Nest has Blue Power wire, too.
Do you have your blue Common power wire hooked up to your nest? That's supposed to charge its internal lithium battery. If you do and it still went dead, you can replace the internal lithium battery.
