It certainly has come a long way Lee, I now have been living here for 17 years over two stints and in between 28 years of traveling here, it is so easy to get around Bangkok and the close surrounding provinces now, but it is still sadly lacking in the country areas.

poorl ink transport, especially rail trasport, still the big problem in thailand's provincial areas, especially out of suburban zones.

Bang Sue Central Station was built to accommodate the high-speed trains currently under construction and to ensure all future lines will be built. It will be the largest rail connectivity hub in Thailand.

Good video! Like the railway public transport in Bangkok a lot. But there are some things I dislike:
1: No "Spider Card" yet. You have to pay every time you change from MRT to BTS to SRT to coach services.
2: Why there are so many different rail systems? BTS, MRT, ARL, Monorail, People Mover, Red Line.
3: Yellow (monorail)line already had an accident less than a year after opening and offered only a delayed service. Please don't buy from China again dear Bangkok.
4: Already after around a year after Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal had opened you could see damage on the floor like broken tiles.

One is being built right now from Bangkok to Korat. 250Km/hr trains will be from China but there's no Chinese loan involved. China was more than happy to build for us to go all the way to Malaysia but that would come with things like a lease of 50 meters along the track on both sides for 99 years. So, we decided to do it ourselves. The extension from Korat to Nongkhai has also been approved by the cabinet. There's also another high speed rail going on - to connect Donmeung Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport and Utapao Airport in Rayong. There will be a Pattaya station along the way. CP Group has won the bid but they keep stalling citing rising costs of construction but just heard that they should be able to start soon.
