For anybody looking for the math in text: You get 250 free listings a month without a store. At basic, which is 1,000 regular listings and 10,000 specific category (collectibles and media mostly) for a total of 11,000 listings possible total. It costs $21.95 a month if you agree to annual renewal. A basic or above store gives you 12.35% for most fees instead of 13.25%, which is 0.9% discount per dollar for most things. (Media and several exceptions, but generally 13.25% and 12.35%) To make a store profitable you need to make $21.95 * 0.009 = $2,438.88 per month for a store to be profitable. ***Lonnie put out a video about three years ago on it titled: "Why you should get an EBAY store? (or not)" starting at 19:52 in that video. That may read better (or worse) depending on how you learn.
One thing to keep in mind with the 250 free listings without a store is eBay automatically relists your listings (unless you opt out of this) each month. So, if you have 270 listings and they get relisted the next month, the first 250 are free the remaining 20 you will get charged $.35 fee per listing, so eBay will charge you $7.00 (20 listings X $.35) for those listings over and above the 250 listings. I just learned this because it happened to me. I didn't know it worked this way but I do now. I am waiting to get a store when I reach 313 listings as that will be the cost of the basic store with the extra fees. Always good to read up on everything when it comes to selling on eBay.

When I'm out in public, I'm not looking to be filmed and be in some youtube video. If I was having a yardsale and someone was filming me and my property while on my property and they didn't ask me if it was OK I wouldn't like that either.

The ability to have promotions & put the store on time away make having a store more than worth it for me, especially since there are so many levels of store to choose from. You can pay very little per month & still get those benefits. (Also, that Tchaikovsky was awesome because it worked for both music box & nutcracker collectors. 🙂 )
Just because they blur faces on tv when someone hasn’t signed a waiver doesn’t mean it’s illegal otherwise. They do that just to cover their basis and avoid threat of a suit because everyone can sue for anything but they wouldn’t win. If you’re not using their image in a way that makes it seem like they’ve endorsed a product when they haven’t and you aren’t defaming them and they were in a public place it’s absolutely legal to use their likeness without consent.
To go along with the “separate checks story” I’m 10 years older than my wife. Been together almost 20 years. On one of our very first vacations together we were checking into a hotel. The person behind the counter asked “sir I noticed you booked a room with one king bed, did you mean to get 2 separate beds “ My wife was not happy haha

About the separate checks: I've worked in restaurants most of my life. It's just a habit/ the server in robot mode. They ask every single table if it's on one check, don't take it personally 😊
My wife and I have eaten at the same local Mexican place for 4 years… always one check. Always paid by me. Past April (our anniversary) the waiter we have had many times over the years asked if we wanted separate checks. He said he was told to ask my management to all tables of more than 1 person to prevent chargebacks

Filming Consent Laws: different states have different rules about consent to film. Some only require 1 person’s consent (the operator), while others want the consent of anyone appearing on film, so it gets complicated. Filming minors can bean issue as well. But in general, aside from the legality, if you go into someone’s home or business, it’s only polite to ask if it’s OK to film and if you don’t ask, you open up yourself to some negative comments or opinions and may get asked to leave.

My gf waitresses and I asked her if she asks couples if they want seperate checks. We live in the northeast. First thing she told me was the other day a group of southerners, male and female, ordered meals. At the check they all got quite and then asked for seperate checks. My gf also said if a party wants seperate checks it's something you tell the waitress at the start and not the end normally. She said she never asks if people want seperate checks at the end of the meal. It's either a southern trend, or if it happens at the same restaurant then something happened that they started teaching their Wait staff to ask.
I think its a mixture of things 1) At restuarants its more difficult to split checks after the transaction is closed 2) even though people are together people may way to pay seperately 3) indirect way of seeing if people will be ordering more / slight nudge that people will be closing the deal out soon . I even know on Fathers Day , Mothers Day that question is asked its like clearly the children are paying for their parents
US seems to have better deals on store subscriptions than we do hear in the UK. We have only three levels of store costing (approx) $35/$95/$550 offering 250/1500/unlimited 'free' listings (+ 100/600/1000 auctions--that I never use!). It's a very big jump from Featured (which I currently have) to Anchor--basically four times the cost--so it's difficult to justify unless you also make a big leap in listing volume; I currently run around a thousand live listings but with average turnover I'm getting close to using all my 1500 listings. However, to justify the Anchor subscription I'd need to be running 4-5000 listings--which isn't realistic as a solo reseller (I went down the road of employees, offices and all the trappings about 20 years ago but found the increased stress just wasn't worth it!). Packaging vouchers are monthly rather than quarterly (0/£10/£20) but the packaging is not only overpriced but has a very limited range and even those are frequently out of stock! The eBay packaging seller is also terrible--if they were a 'normal' reseller they would have been banned long ago: high neg feedback count, frequent cancellations due to out of stock, slow shipping (status shows despatched but courier tracking shows not actually shipped until a week or more later), frequent errors (wrong items and/or quantity) and a total inability to respond to customer queries...

In my area, it's 250 listings without a store. I am just liquidating my extra stuff so it's plenty. I currently have about 70 items and it's a struggle to list even that. I admire how hard you work, and I like to see what you sell.
The Walmart pins got me thinking of this. How do you think about items you have had for a long time, where you bought them in bulk, and are now well into the profit, and are very slow sellers. Do you discount them to get rid of them? Or let them sell very slowly over time to maximize additional profits. Live the channel, and appreciate all the knowledge you share.

I don't know why but when I came back to reselling,, eBay made me a store. I tried to change it but they keep turning it back to a store. I don't list much so that's why I'm bringing this up.
Thanks for sharing the video but I like the shipping on Poshmark because there is no guess work, and the buyer knows what they have to pay to get the items shipped. Also, Posh does let sellers offer discounts to buyers when it comes to shipping. Poshmark and Mercari both have their good and bad when it comes to shipping but it still workable when selling on the platforms.
Lonnie, I think that the reason people ask about whether or not you guys are married, is because you get along so well. The two of you are so great together, there's no tension, there's no big bickering and you seem like friends. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that's not common with people that have been married as many years. ❤
Yes, Times have changed in the restaurant experience. They ask one check or separate checks because people get offended and start auguring or do not know if you are going to pay or own meal or all together not like it was in the past anymore.
🎶It's been awhile 🎶 since we went out to a restaurant that didn't ask about separate checks. I think part of it helps the server identify who is paying if it is not separate checks. I think its a mixture of things 1) At restuarants its more difficult to split checks after the transaction is closed 2) even though people are together people may way to pay seperately 3) indirect way of seeing if people will be ordering more / slight nudge that people will be closing the deal out soon . I even know on Fathers Day , Mothers Day that question is asked its like clearly the children are paying for their parents
Also if the hat is 100% wool 🤑 it's worth looking up

US seems to have better deals on store subscriptions than we do hear in the UK. We have only three levels of store costing (approx) $35/$95/$550 offering 250/1500/unlimited 'free' listings (+ 100/600/1000 auctions--that I never use!). It's a very big jump from Featured (which I currently have) to Anchor--basically four times the cost--so it's difficult to justify unless you also make a big leap in listing volume; I currently run around a thousand live listings but with average turnover I'm getting close to using all my 1500 listings. However, to justify the Anchor subscription I'd need to be running 4-5000 listings--which isn't realistic as a solo reseller (I went down the road of employees, offices and all the trappings about 20 years ago but found the increased stress just wasn't worth it!).
Packaging vouchers are monthly rather than quarterly (0/£10/£20) but the packaging is not only overpriced but has a very limited range and even those are frequently out of stock! The eBay packaging seller is also terrible--if they were a 'normal' reseller they would have been banned long ago: high neg feedback count, frequent cancellations due to out of stock, slow shipping (status shows despatched but courier tracking shows not actually shipped until a week or more later), frequent errors (wrong items and/or quantity) and a total inability to respond to customer queries...

In my area, it's 250 listings without a store. I am just liquidating my extra stuff so it's plenty. I currently have about 70 items and it's a struggle to list even that. I admire how hard you work, and I like to see what you sell.

The Walmart pins got me thinking of this. How do you think about items you have had for a long time, where you bought them in bulk, and are now well into the profit, and are very slow sellers.
Do you discount them to get rid of them? Or let them sell very slowly over time to maximize additional profits.

I don't know why but when I came back to reselling,, eBay made me a store. I tried to change it but they keep turning it back to a store. I don't list much so that's why I'm bringing this up.

Thanks for sharing the video but I like the shipping on Poshmark because there is no guess work, and the buyer knows what they have to pay to get the items shipped. Also, Posh does let sellers offer discounts to buyers when it comes to shipping. Poshmark and Mercari both have their good and bad when it comes to shipping but it still workable when selling on the platforms.

Yes, Times have changed in the restaurant experience. They ask one check or separate checks because people get offended and start auguring or do not know if you are going to pay or own meal or all together not like it was in the past anymore.
🎶It's been awhile 🎶 since we went out to a restaurant that didn't ask about separate checks. I think part of it helps the server identify who is paying if it is not separate checks.
