I had a person send me a message on eBay saying that they never purchase from a seller who inflates their shipping rates and that many others are just like them and that I should be ashamed of my shipping pricing. I'm in Maryland, and this user was in Utah. Shipping was USPS ground advantage calculated shipping. I politely wrote back to them and said I got their message, and I hope they would be able to locate the same item from a seller in a state right near them to make shipping cheaper.

I shop a lot on eBay and am a small seller too. I think eBay shoppers know to compare prices with shipping and condition in mind. A lot of times I choose to pay the shipping and it ends up cheaper than free shipping and often the condition is better. I literally just bought every Christmas gift for my large family from eBay. Only one questionable item received that had free shipping (didn’t realize it was shipping internationally and things seemed questionable but I’ll keep it) but that’s okay. I bought a lot and everything was really good.

Stock Image Use: I do use stock images sometimes when it’s a sealed Brown Box, and like Candice, don’t lead with the stock image. If I have a multi-qty of the sealed brown boxed item, I’ll open 1 to get my own images and sell the open 1 last, after the sealed units.
I have been doing calculated shipping for a long time. Nova Scotia to Toronto or Vancouver or Maine or California are all going to be different costs of shipping. If you guys are doing the same, that makes me more confident in my decisions. Thanks for another great video, Randy.

I agree wholeheartedly with every reason you gave for not opting to offer free shipping. And I agree that I see less free shipping than I used to. As someone who also regularly buys on Ebay, I'm fine with paying shipping. I never click the "free shipping" box when I'm searching for something. If I'm buying a widget, I want to be able to choose which to buy based on which one looks best, which buyer seems the best, possibly which might arrive more quickly, etc. I don't want to possibly opt out of a better version of an item because I hit the "free shipping" box and cut down my choices.
Hint for Pip treats see if he likes ice cubes. You can freeze a pea size peanut butter inside the cube, tiny sliver of carrot, or anything low calorie that he likes. Just add a little water at first so he realizes there is something inside 👍 if his teeth are bad though can buy tiny cube trays and only fill them 1/2 way.

Agree on the shipping. I prefer not to subsidize shipping far away. Leads to faster deliveries and fewer emissions too.
Wind Chimes: my wife has several in and around the Gazebo I sit under, while listing, when the weather is nice. I can judge the wind speed by which of the chimes is sounding off, since it takes much more wind to chime the large ones.
One thought for your viewer who asked the question about bumping up the price before adding Best Offer. It's too easy to get "busted" by that one by your browser/shoppers, because there's a link on the product page (at least on the desktop version) that the viewer can click to see the pricing history for the item. So if you jumped the price up a couple of days before sending the best offer.... you could get caught at that and very likely lose that sale. Bumping up the price is no kind of a "violation" at all as far as eBay is concerned, it's just that it's a little too transparent for my taste. Instead, it's better to figure your initial asking price with the assumption that you might have to send an offer some time in the future.
I think that's what they meant by their question - listing high to sell on offer. This is very bad from my viewpoint as a buyer. I have gotten 50 percent offers before, but I will never buy full price from that seller again
I find one downside with separating shipping is that when buying postage on ebay the insurance is only set on item cost, postage is excluded. However when high value item or high postage cost then if item lost or damaged you lose out on a fair bit of money as postage cost with insurance is excluded in insurance value. Including postage in price means that value of item and postage cost including insurance is covered in value insured.
Can't you just add like an extra ten bucks on your insurance? I don't sell, so I probably don't get it. Just my first thought.

I love the way you guys store your sale items. If you have several of the same item do you mark each one with a different item number? If not, how do you keep up with the sold ones versus the unsold ones? Are they listed separately or do you use a quantity on one listing? There is so much to learn about in reselling compared to something like services. Thank you for your help and knowledge. Love watching you both!

Not offering free shipping, weeds out the bad buyers!!
I only do free shipping when I have to to be competative. I will do calculated for heavier stuff and flat rate for smaller less expensive items. I'm using business policies, so that makes it easier to up the prices on the free shiopping. And I rarely sell anything under 9.95. I cannot for the life of me understand why people sell something for .99. For that price , I'd put it in a yard sale.
Question for you - any predictions for 2024 on what new items will be hot on eBay and what will start to cool off?

I been doing free shipping on items under a pound for years. People love free shipping
I think it must be a psychological thing. 2 sellers with the same item. 1 selling it for $20 with "free shipping" while the other is selling it for $10 plus $5.99 shipping. And people will still do the one with "free shipping". The shipping cost is built into the purchase price is all.
Free Shipping: I don’t use it primarily because running a sale on aging items means your discounting the “baked in” shipping portion of your “free shipping” listed items. Works sort of the same way as when USPS raises rates.
I was just thinking today that I need to take offers off of items 15 and less.

Oh yes, I go to active listings, then click on the box that says "Send offers eligible", theres no other way to do it that i know of. I just didn't say the second part in the video.
In my own Ebay buying experience, the only time free shipping helps me out is on multiple purchases of single comics or sports cards. Some sellers can't - or won't - honor combined shipping, and I would go broke buying individual 5 comics at a time with 50 dollars of listed shipping. Free shipping lets me gauge my own total cost from those sellers.
I always combined. It makes it easier for me. Why ship 6 envelopes to one address when a single box will do the trick? And typically, boxes are cheaper than padded envelopes.

Hi Lonnie and Candice, Do you ever get this case ? I sold 1 pair of brand new HOKA for 120$. The buyer right after received the shoes, open returned cased , he is saying " Item does not match description, one pair is 11 and the other 11.5. He wanted to return the unmatched pairs . I checked my picture *listed* , unfortunate, I only took 1 tongue of 1 left shoe show size 11, so i don't see the other shoe picture ! He took pictures of the shoes He received ( show 1 is 11 and other 11.5) ... I am sure 100% my shoes is match pair size 11 because i bough it at the store and checked it.What would you do in this case ? ..................(I don't think ebay in my side and look like he intended to switch the shoes when he bought it at 1st.........HUGE LESSON FOR EBAY seller
The only problem I have with not offering free shipping is when sellers take advantage and reduce the price of the item and make up it with higher shipping and "handling" cost in order to avoid promo discounts and higher platform fees.
I've seen that and wondered what was up. $9.95 for an item but $49.99 for shipping on something not breakable or heavy.
I generally do a flat rate shipping because, over the years, every time I have tried calculated shipping it always comes up wrong in eBay's favor.
My selling virtually stopped on the 14th. It’s the worst sales I’ve ever had. 1 sale in 3 days. I’m usually 7 per day in a 700 item store, so the algorithm hates me.

Naming rather then numbering shelves is fun, but not as efficient. Back when I used to buy delinquent storage facilities, my favorite facility used US State abbreviations like (Michigan =MI), while every other facility in the area used the usual Alphanumeric identifiers. I always liked it, but would have to check a diagram to locate the unit, because it wasn’t very logical. Cute, but not easy.
Where do you buy the Saran or plastic wrap you use? I didn't see it on your list.
I sell collectables to CA, TX, MI, WI. There's no way I could do free shipping. I usually have to double box items to make sure they get to the destination safely.

As part of my ebay business I resell video games as well, and thanks to influences from youtubers, such as yourselves (thank you) I have become an everything seller now. From experience not every video game item flies out of the shelves, as the market is flooded with other sellers doing the same thing, I think newer resellers need to understand that. Video games ARE a good buy, but not every item is instant revenue.

Yes, it's basically a hollow tube with a motor at the bottom, no attachments.

eBay Box Sizes Don’t Matter: most of my listings on my stores are Flat Rate Shipping (not Calculated) and I often don’t even bother to put weight or dimensions in the Listing at all and list it that way.
