I used the torch to get my sons ATV engine free. It sat in a barn without a spark plug for over 20 years. It still runs great today, we've never had the engine apart. Heat, followed by penetrating oil repeatedly got it free. I don't think it's going to get that 318 going though.
Dad and Devon show - great as always! That guy was probably an electrician-saw electrical parts in the bed boxes. Looks like it was a highly optioned truck-AC and had carpet on the door bottoms I think.
He was an electrician. The trail duster came from the same gentleman and both were filled with electrical stuff. Very highly optioned truck. The big thing is the bucket seats. We haven’t seen a truck with them yet.
It's crazy how deep it was buried in dirt and even crazier the shape that the batteries are in. I've never seen batteries with the sides rotted out of them.
17:05. That's the aftermarket 8 track player! It may be come with FM as a lot of cars with AM only radios can have an aftermarket 8 track or cassette player with FM capabilities so you won't be left behind the times 😉 I'd see if you can get it working again! Changing the belt on those things aren't difficult!
@RealSteelFabrications like you said, you have a perfectly good 383 big boy just waiting to be used. 318s are good little motors but realistically, you're probably doin it more good not running it. You might could get away with a backyard rebuild with a dingleball hone and some gaskets. Ya never know. :D
Appreciate it! Been hustling. Was hoping to get another truck going the other day but it’s being stubborn. Got big ole truck coming Wednesday, it’ll be something we’ve never done before so stay tuned.
@RealSteelFabrications prices of everything has gone up I think the problem is here in the south they are all pretty solid so people ask alot for them I'll find one someday I got my hands full with my d150s right now

They are very nice trucks. You’re right, the correct thing would be to take apart the motor and do a deep clean to save the engine. 318 are really quite abundant tho
I hate to be a know-it-all , old school wagon rim, by far it ain't no slot,,Look I wish I was there helping you good old boys, 30 years doing tree work and clearing, I just want to say the good old boy, who winning there with the weed wacker, weed eater. Little secret about the 65 to 71 dodge truck and the 69-72 ford f100 the tailgates are the same. I bought a 69 d100 took the chrome insert off of the tailgate and it had the ford stamped in it.
@@RealSteelFabrications I figured it out by mistake lol. Had an old body man that told me he had seen it dozens of times doing body work in the 70’s and 80’s
Hey just found you guys not long ago like the show just subscribed I'm big Mopar guy. Have to let you know that 383 you got running has the wrong spark plugs in it !!!! Way to long !! Those are for the small block Mopar motors the LA series motors the plugs for big blocks are shorter by like half !!! You didn't mess anything up but uu can so change them out I think in champion plugs it calls for a RJ12YC keep up the good work man ! Again like the show
Big Mopar family here, so more to come! If we end up using that 383 for a project, I’ll look into those plugs, thanks for the info. We haven’t messed much with the big blocks, seems like everything has the ole 318 in it lol. I’m getting another old Dodge this week that I think that 383 would be good in. Appreciate the support.
Ohhh dang. I forgot about that lol. Ya that plug was from that 318 from the red truck. Great catch. We work on to much junk, can’t remember everything we do

Great info! Thanks for sharing the stories. I couldn’t imagine seeing this truck back in the day when they were stilling being used. Would have been a sight to see vs the new plastic junk running around now
