IMO this camera is great for those who live in Southwest, like Arizona or SoCal where our sun is always shining. I can't imagine it charging much in other colder states. Our only concern here in Arizona is if the solar panel and camera can withstand the temps in our direct sunlight (like over 130F) when in shade in June our temps can be 120F.
13:31 I agree. That is called "guard point," or "guard position," the position you always want your camera to return to. This model doesn't have guard point. This isn't a deal breaker for me, but it might be (just ordered mine tonight) so not sure how easy or hard it will be for me to return the camera back to it's guard position. If it's too difficult I'll return it. Reolink should've included a guard point or a reset to put the camera back to it's "guard position." Some of Reolink's other models have guard point (E series cameras, RLC-523WA, RLC-823A).
Have the Argus 2 camera/solar panel, twice been returned, the solar wasn't charging the battery - customer service told me it was because it was too cold! Clueless, solar works on sunlight not the temperature. Ended up taking the camera down, charging it up manually & putting it back up.
@@sang3Eta That's right. Take it from me, I'm in Arizona where our sun is always shining and even when there are those rare days where there's some clouds or rain solar doesn't really charge much those days. I think this camera solar is more from Southwest folks where the sun is always direct sunlight, except for those rare days I mentioned and I mean rare.
You can zoom out on your phone but the picture quality for fine detail (license plates etc) is poor. Plus the max range is only 30 ft for the motion sensors. The pluses are the night vision is actually pretty good and the microphones for picking up sound are excellent. People outside can talk to you clearly, but talking to them is very squelchy and unintelligible.
I bought one of these cameras and sent it back for a refund, as despite it being only 12 feet away from my Netgear ORBI RBK50 mesh Wi-Fi router (which has a 4,000 square feet range) it kept on dropping out and would intermittently stream or fail to connect altogether whenever I tried to access it via the app or my PC. Incidentally, I have 2 other Ring cameras in my garden, sited further away than where I mounted this device, and they work perfectly. So, my advice would be to avoid this camera altogether, unless you plan on sticking it to the side of your wireless router where you may have some chance of it actually working properly. totally useless!
Hi there, thanks for commenting! Always good to hear other people’s experience with the product. To be honest I didn’t have that problem myself apart from the odd occasion when the camera was furthest away from my router. But at the same time however the WiFi in our house does randomly disappear some times which is why I was disappointed there was no option to hard wire the camera. Still however with your ORBI RBK50 set up you should of had no problems whatsoever! Anyhow, thanks again for letting viewers know about your experience, gives people a broader understanding/experience of the camera before they buy it. 👌
We bought 4 of the cameras and right out of the box all 4 didn’t work! Abject junk! If you care about your family then you’d best to avoid this Chinese made junk!
I own this camera but will not recommend it. The battery cannot be charged enough during the winter days and you cannot replace the battery because is not replaceable. After a week testings and checks by Reolink remote support and some negotiations they finally agree to replace the camera but on my own post expenses. They are around more than half of the price of the camera. I will definitely not recommend this camera at all. I bought it in March but in December the camera is not great anymore, Look at their other models or better any other brand.
Hi Vasil, thanks for your thoughts! Tbh I quite like the camera but do understand what you mean about the battery. So far my solar panel seems to be doing ok as we enter winter however I did have to move it further away as where it was positioned in my review, the surrounding houses block about half of the sunlight throughout the day! Thank goodness for the 11ft cable! I will say however that my camera did develop a fault last week and would not seem to power up. It would charge but wouldn’t turn on. So Reolink have asked me to send it back for a replacement which I’ve done. My postage came to just under £20 recorded delivery which was a tad annoying but hopefully the replacement should be ok! Watch this space!
We have had ours for about 7 months and now in winter here in PA it has died the solar panel is in full sun today and it seems like the battery is not charging even tho the solar panel is puting out power and the unit is blinking that its charging i dont think the internal battery can stand up to the cold temps. we will see if it comes back to life but luckily i ran power to our goat barn so i can just plug it in now and not have to worry about battery.
@@charger7022 I cant remember if I mentioned this in the review or not but I ended up moving my camera further away from the house (away from the back door to where it is positioned at 9:09 in the video) as it wasnt getting enough sun to charge either. Shame really. Still a nice little camera and luckily you have mains power to fall back on too. But would be better if the solar panel was more sensative!
Would be nice to get the dislike count back, started shopping for these and in the past it helped. HEY UA-cam!!!, Leave the politics to the American people, I don't need your politically motivated guidance....
I can tell you had much more fun making this review that I had watching it.

I have the Argus! Get another Camera!
Awesome review. Just got mine. Can’t wait to get it up and running..! 👍🏻💯❤️👩🏼💻
Did he work fine
How's it working for you?

They only work in direct sunlight. They won't charge on a cloudy or rainy day, or on a north facing wall, or in shade.

What length of video footage can be stored in a 1 GB memory card if the video is 1080p and 15fps?
Hi does livestream work from your mobile if you are away from the property
Wonder how long the battery would last through the day if you use the pt function alot.
And how long it takes to charge back up again
Without a zoom function it is lacking a major feature. So, great review, but not for me!

Is this camera only motion sensor or can you manually access the camera too?
Hi. Can this camera be connected to Wi-Fi through mobile Hotspot?... If yes, Could you explain how please?

I'm not buying something built cheap and drops connection. Thankyou!!

Does it connect and work with reolink CCTV NVR system
Can you continues viewing thru the app???
Do you need the SD cards if you have the cloud?
Another blogger said it does need a SIM card ( but make sure it’s compatible with the system). Then you need to program the app on your phone

You’re not a news reporter so why talk like that?
Horrible company!
