      Andrea Benner I usually give props to Asa for just about everything, but being supportive I think should just be a given when it comes to your spouse or partner. I know it isn’t always, but it should be. I am proud of Priscilla for showing her experience in this, to help others by being so honest and open about her fears, concerns, not wanting her personality to change through the process, never wanting to be a burden on her family, the terror some have (genuine terror) walking into a Drs office. Those are not easy topics to just throw out to thousands upon thousands of strangers. Not many would show the ups and downs like she did. What a woman putting it all out there to help others on their journey.💕

Like literally I look in the mirror and see the girl before the weight loss.....I know that’s not really what I look like but that’s what I see and I really struggle with it. I am a migraine sufferer and get kidney stones (sometimes stuck) and the gas was worse, but you are coming out of surgery. But unlike my other two problems, gas pain was just a couple of hours. Ive been on my own weight loss journey, its been challenging to say the least, diet and exercise and was looking into getting the surgery as well, about 6 months ago i went to my consultation appointment, i got denied the surgery, and i was so proud of myself because of the reason.... i now didnt meet the weight requirements.... i was too SMALL. Doctor requires that i was 100 lbs over weight for my height... and i wasnt anymore! As of this month (one year of this journey) ive lost 120 lbs. I have 50lbs to go to reach my goal.
    Congrats to you for facing your fears! You got this!!!

I use stevia as a sweetener and i switch to whole grain carbs, breads pastas, rice etc. I drink a small cup of lemon water before meals and make sure my carb is only 25% of my plate.
      The more weight i lost, the more i stepped up exercise. Soing yoga and light cardio and light resistance training. As my body got used to it (3 weeks or so) i added a little more weight or more reps or something to make it challenging again.

      Kathryn I also had gastric bypass in 2002. I weighed 300 & lost 150 pounds. You catch a lot of flack for it. Everybody has an opinion & they state it. It isn't the be all end all though. You have to commit to changing your way of eating for life because if you don't it won't work. I've kept almost all my weight off. But.....there are draw backs we didn't know back then. Health issues they didn't know about back then. I've had some major health issues the last three years, gastric problems & they are all caused by the gastric bypass but had we known those things could happen it could have treated it. I'm not trying to discourage anybody just telling what I've gone through. The surgery changed my life so I don't regret it, I just regret not knowing what could happen. It's amazing watching your body shrink so fast. Hoping the very best for you Priscilla, I'll be praying for you. Your going to love your new self.

    I am not sure if you want some advice for post surgery. But I had a Gastric Bypass 7 years ago. Keep taking all of your vitamins (this will help with hair loss as well as your energy). Stick with eating healthy the rest of your life because you can gain your weight back after time. There are many Bariatric surgery support groups you can join to keep you on track. When you have lost your weight you are going to have extra skin that can be very mentally challenging. Exercising during your weight loss will help with that. After a while it will be come a lifestyle and not be work anymore. Keep up with it!

    One of the best parts of the sleeve over the bypass is that they take out the part of your stomach that tells your brain that you're hungry. I NEVER feel hungry and that's the best! I cooked in restaurants for 25 years. I love giving food as a gift. Still can! It just helps you reduce how much goes into your mouth.

  • @living_dead_pogo7174

    I know this is off topic but at the end of last summer I quit smoking and I gave up soda, I haven't smoked or drank soda in 8 months. I also started walking 6.2 miles every weekend and 2 miles every week day. I am a single mom of three girls my youngest is asd, dmdd, and ADHD. my oldest is ADHD and my middle daughter is typical. Now back on topic I have prayed everyday Priscilla since you first mentioned you had surgery and I had the feeling that is the surgery you had done. I just didn't want to say anything because it wasn't my place to say anything. plus you said you'd talk about it when you was ready. thank you for sharing Priscilla. I did notice in the new videos you lost weight in your face. you know you didn't have to share this because it's your body, your choice and your personal life. I love you all so very much...I will continue to pray for you because even if you are healed you still need the support.💙❤

    I had full bypass 17 years ago, (There was not an option for sleeve) and went from 400 to 250. Hovered there for a few years. A year ago I started keto and now at 140, unreal still. Went from 40 to 22 to now 12. Very unreal. The biggest advice I offer anyone is see a counselor. I did and made all the difference. Move out of emotional eating and being more self aware. I’m doing better at 67 than at 45. Congratulations dear, all the best for this new journey your on.
    And the hair loss thing, minoxidil, it’s help my hair to grow and come back from some loss. My personality is just happier and calmer.

    • @PossumWrangler
      @PossumWrangler 5 років тому

      K J not crying about her decision, for me personally weight is just an emotional subject and probably is with most individuals struggling with or having struggled in the past with weight problems. Also, empathy....plain and simple, her emotional journey is visible and palpable and I think a lot of people don’t want to see others having struggles. In general, for me at least, I want everyone I encounter to be happy, not facing struggles and healthy.

    Priscilla! Thank you for choosing to share your journey. I've actually been in the weight loss surgery program on and off for a few years. And this time I'm determined to make it happen. AND because of you sharing this, I feel so much more confident that I can do it. My biggest hang up has been the "afterlife" :) I have little to no discipline when it has come to eating or health and so I've to worried that I won't do justice and make a bigger mess for myself than I am already in. I've made a ton of excuses for myself - not a great support system, I'm just too busy, etc. But after watching your video, I'm actually relieved because so many of your early emotions stuck a cord and ring true for me. You were honest and transparent and I am so thankful! I'm only a couple of steps away from having the surgery (per the requirements of our clinic/insurance) and I'm GOING TO DO IT! So thank you, thank you, thank you! And I am glad you have such an awesome support team. Please keep us posted on your progress. I know I'll be watching! I've been watching following you all on Facebook for just a few months, but though I've don't know anyone in my immediate circle with autism, I have learned so much and see an incredible family trying to teach people like me. Big praise for each of you and your work!

    I just rewatched this for the billionth time because I am finally having my surgery in 4 weeks......and it's because of ya'll. My 19 yr old autistic granddaughter moved in with me last Nov and I need to be around for her as long as I can. I'v been on a pre surgery liquid only diet for the past 2 weeks and I am down about 15 lbs already. I love what you said about "it's only food". That's going to be my new Mantra. Thanks for being brave and making this video.

    Cilla thanks for sharing this! My dad had gastric bypass when I was 14. Your experience has taught me a little more about my Dad's journey. He did his surgery for me, to be around longer. You did it for Abby. I understand her position in this. I didn't say thank you to my dad at 14 but I will stay thank you now to you. I understand how selfless this is. Thank you. Everything you feel in this video is normal and shows how strong you are!
