Love it! I've been doing hyperbolic crochet off and on for about twelve years. But I've always worked in the round. I've used it to edge drawstring dice bags as well as for cat toys and flowers.
I came to UA-cam because it occurred to me that I have NEVER done it back and forth. I wanted to see what it looked like before I chose yarn. Looks just as fun!
And I'm with you on the bigger thing. I never want to quit, but eventually I have to. :)

I am totally addicted to making them. I particularly like wool with lots of colors. Not mastered how to do the long ones, do you simply do more chains to start with? Great video ☺️

This is nice but it's a shame that it is focused on the grid and not on the knitting and I cant follow :(

Sorry if I am being thick but how do you join the piece ?

You would begin with a magic circle or joining to make a loop. 7 months later...you've no doubt figured it out. Good luck!

good video , but mathematically you can not make hyperbolic plan as big as you want.

myName myname2 That's assuming that you always fill in the next row completely. You could periodically create gaps on the edge between petals of yarn that would expand and curl up, followed by more petals on their edges. Where there's a will there's a way.
