This video is very helpful. I am wanting, however, to add a lacy edge around a baby blanket, on all sides. How would I do this if I don't have a live edge?

I bought all the books and the row-by-row from Schoolhouse ... and was afraid to even start! So, decades later, and two weeks ago, I grabbed a cake of yarn sitting on a table and grabbed a circular needle hanging off the lamp - and started!!!! I didn't care about the size of yarn or the size of the circulars. Just knit. I figured, whatever size the finished 'mess' would be would fit someone. Size 10 circular - and #4 weight Mandalay multicolor - and two weeks later and a few frogings and Voila! I have a BSJ!! I now know what it's like to "blindly trust" - and have the finished BSJ. I'm now on my second one - but a solid color and using the different decrease so I can see what the stitches look like. What a fun thing to knit - finally! At 86, I finally made the BSJ.

Thank you so much! This is exactly the information I was looking for! Especially good to see someone do it on an Irish wheel since I can clearly see what was going wrong on the wheel I borrowed from a friend. They hadn't used it in a while and I think the tension is too high because the bearing surface is dirty. Even with the leather off completely, I can't get a tension as light as you showed there. Again, thank you so much ❤❤❤

I've had this video saved for years and it never lets me down! Every once in a while I'll remember the pressure points at the tips of my fingers, but now that I've revisited this video I have the full technique in my arsenal, and this has been an absolute lifesaver! This will be super helpful now as I'm learning to knit as well as crocheting a different project at the same time. Cheers to you and I hope you're well 💜
