This upsets me. I feel like this has dark undertones of emptiness and sad childhoods. I feel very nostalgic watching games like this that once thrived become the desolate lobbies they are now, I also feel sad at the same time
I also feel sad because many of those games that were something in the day I didn't had the chance to play them back when all the gamers were playing them and making priceless memories, I didn't because I didn't own a PS3 until 2015, but I did play on my brother's and played U3 MP and had good memories with this one, but not COD games which is the most thing that makes me kinda very sad, COD were the shit back in the days, people made literally priceless everlasting memories with COD games, but not me :( I hate this and it sucks knowing that, but im glad I also bought PS4 in 2015 too with a gaming headset for the first time and glad that I wouldn't struggle or not being able to keep up with whats new or whats trending, because it does really suck and depressing seeing everyone plays that new game on that new system and not being able to do the same! I have been through this when the PS4 came out but im glad i didnt take too long to buy it. It's also sad seeing these guys still play PS3 and cant afford a PS4, not mentioning that it is kinda pretty old by now (6 years) and is near completing it's lifespan. To a gain access to play online on the PS4 with payment is just absolutely ridiculous. We shouldn’t even require to pay for online gaming since we’re already paying with our internet bill. Online should be free just like ps3 and it just frustrates me a lot that PS4 online gaming is locked behind payment for no other reason other then money. Which I understand because it is a business and they need profit but it’s just infuriating in my opinion. I hope PS5 comes with free online gaming just like the 7th generation days. Thank god I still have my ps3 and play it on time to time. Lol sorry for the long comment.
I've had my ps3 since it came out. My dad bought a launch model for me when I was super young. If I remember correctly I was only 3 when it came out. Still works fine and I have the original controller. Only reason I still play is because of how dedicated I am to the console. I have a pc and I play all the new games there. But all the older games I always use the ps3 if I can. I owe the console, it helped me get through my parents divorce, when my uncle died, and when my mom abandoned me. The console was there when my family wasnt. I love it to death

@@MysticRyan You didn't play MGS 4 Online revived. It's full of toxic people like me. You have to either modify your firmware to play on those custom servers or modify the game file which doesn't require custom firmware.

I still boot up the PS3 sometimes to play some of the goods, like Sonic Adventure 1, 2 Battle, Generations, Unleashed, (yes i'm a sonic geek) Toy Home, Smash Cars, NFS HP '10, MW '12, UC, etc.
legend has it that if you boot up your ps3 and go to a bioshock capture the sister lobby, Dj Dan awaits patiently, waiting for more players till this day
I can totally relate to most of these guys and I have 2 main reasons: 1. I have no money to upgrade And 2. Lots of PS3 games are still worth playing and be considered as a masterpiece. Appreciate what you have :)
These dead lobbies are so sad I remember taking turns with my brothers and my dad on MW3 on PS3 back in the days. Good ol days... Edit: Believe it or not I have - 73 Days of play time on MW3!!! That is 1,752+ Hours ha

Damn, I'm about to cry. I got a PS3 way later on in the lifetime about 2013, and when I did I exclusively played Minecraft for a few years (I was a young kid) and on there I met my friend. I called him Dreamer and we had so many good memories building together, but I never met him face to face. One day he died of cancer. I have a lot of memories of my PS3 life that I wish I could get back. Either way though... the PS3 was awesome.
If I had to go through that I’d never be able to go on ps3 ever again as all them memories would instantly come back. Bless you dude, at least you got to know that person

I love how certain people think once a new console comes out, that you’re just not allowed to play older consoles and HAVE to play the newer stuff. Just bought a ps3 because I had never played Demons Souls, and realized I should have never gotten rid of it. BF3 is still the best FPS I've ever played and the lobbies are packed. Metal Gear legacy collection is another gem I picked up.
Yeah, I know it sucks paying to play online . But at least you get 2 free games every month and this is the reason why I'm not buying many games like I used to do before.

I don't have PS PLUS license anymore and all those free games I downloaded (Mafia 3, MGS5, Deus Ex Mankind, COD BO3...), I can't play them until I renew the license.
This video has really opened my eyes. I feel so fortunate that I can afford the newer hardware. I've already boxed up my PS4 pro and sold it because now I have the PS5. Gaming is gaming. PS3 definitely has an incredible library.

A bright example is mine, I live in Argentina, and even if you have either two parents, each one working or one with two formal jobs at the same time ...sadly... You still can't afford a PS4, because they are like $26.000 ARS and that's without exclusives/games. Also, trying to have a full year of PSN online in PS4 is a nightmare. You have to cut and save so much money.

Although I own a PS4. I largely stick to PS3 as it has more of games I like and enjoy as a whole. PS4 lacking backwards compatibility or having paid online does not help
well the PS4 has no excuse for not being able to run PS2 and PS1 games from disc. PS3 is a different story due to how weird the console's hardware is, heck I can't run it on my PC setup via emulation smoothly, it's not like they'll make a PS4 Pro 2.0 where they Shove PS3 hardware into it just for backwards compatibility's sake, we saw how well that went when the old PS3 had the PS2's Hardware in it, it rose the price so high that Sony lost money trying to stop it from being higher than it was.
I believe the part of "The price was so high that sony lost money trying to stop it from being higher than it was." was pointing out the price would've been higher if Sony wanted to profit. they were losing money by having the price set as it was, because it cost more to make than what they were selling it for, unless enough people had bought it at that price point (which didn't happen) they would have to make a cheaper one which offered emulation instead of real PS2 hardware (not the PS3 I want) and cut out PS2 compatibility and left PS1 in with Emulation.
2 Reasons 1. Don't Have a PS4 usually financial Reasons. 2. Playing a game thats not on PS4. For instance I go back to my PS3 occasionally to play Black ops 2 or House of the dead 3&4 with my Move Light Gun.
Jack Swift I bought a backup on Black Friday in 2014 Ended up giving my dad my og PS3 and ps4 so now we can sesh together. You don't need full lobbies to have good times.
@@sir7689 nothing wrong with skipping a gen either or buying a console when the next gen is still in its early years (especially since there's barely any good games at the start and previous consoles games would be a lot cheaper), I was still playing online on ps3 in 2016. I'm even playing through persona on ps3 right now though I do mostly game on xbox so haven't needed a reason to update to ps4.

Yup. Pretty much what I expected. PS3 players are either low income family kids or veteran gamers that don't play so much anymore. It still makes me kind of sad when I seee some kid asking if a title will be released for the PS3 in the comment section of youtube videos. I didn't get a PS4 until 2016 myself for financial reasons but I've been lucky enough to own a NES, a SuperNES, a Gameboy and a PS1 as a kid and then being able to buy a PS2, a PS3 and a PS4 with my own money. I don't want to think about it but at some point I guess I will stop gaming and be one of thos guys that turn on the old console occasionally out of nostalgia.
Yeah, I was 'late to the party' this gen. Didn't get PS4 or X1 til 2016/17ish . And yet I still find myself going back to 360/PS3 more often than those due to larger and variable game library.. Hmm.
@@jeyanthikamala1550 It's not super late but the PS4 was launched at the end of 2013 and the PS5 will be launched at some point in 2020, so 2016 it's pretty much the middle of its life cycle.
I have a ps5,ps4,ps3,ps2 and I've gone back to the ps2. I love the arcade style. Simple, challenging and fun. This video makes me want to go back online with ps3. Its crazy how a place where there use to be so many people. Now there are very few. Ps5 is a faster ps4. All playstations are just as fun. I love old games alot. Bo2 is the most active/alive game in the entirety of the PS3 console, you could find up to 20k-30k players online at one time (even today). Although it'll take over a decade from now at minimum for the PS4 to reach PS3's state right now.

Dang this brings back memories. My brother had a ps3 but after he got himself a ps4 he gave me his old ps3 for Christmas and to me that was just like... a dream come true. I played COD black ops, advanced warfare, battlefield 3, black ops 3, MW3, resistance 2 and 3, nino kuni wrath of the white witch, metal slug 1 and 2, Bioshock 1 2 & 3, all 3 dark souls, play station all stars, and minecraft!😂 at the time I was a little surprised people still played online on the ps3 when I played COD but it was always fun.... man those were the good days but it just stopped working all of a sudden so i through it out. Sad thing is I thought when a new PlayStation came out he'd give me his ps4 but he instead got a ps4 pro and sold his other ps4... RIP!

Damn, I'm about to cry. I got a PS3 way later on in the lifetime about 2013, and when I did I exclusively played Minecraft for a few years (I was a young kid) and on there I met my friend. I called him Dreamer and we had so many good memories building together, but I never met him face to face. One day he died of cancer. I have a lot of memories of my PS3 life that I wish I could get back. Either way though... the PS3 was awesome.

well the PS4 has no excuse for not being able to run PS2 and PS1 games from disc. PS3 is a different story due to how weird the console's hardware is, heck I can't run it on my PC setup via emulation smoothly, it's not like they'll make a PS4 Pro 2.0 where they Shove PS3 hardware into it just for backwards compatibility's sake, we saw how well that went when the old PS3 had the PS2's Hardware in it, it rose the price so high that Sony lost money trying to stop it from being higher than it was.
I believe the part of "The price was so high that sony lost money trying to stop it from being higher than it was." was pointing out the price would've been higher if Sony wanted to profit. they were losing money by having the price set as it was, because it cost more to make than what they were selling it for, unless enough people had bought it at that price point (which didn't happen) they would have to make a cheaper one which offered emulation instead of real PS2 hardware (not the PS3 I want) and cut out PS2 compatibility and left PS1 in with Emulation.

@@sir7689 nothing wrong with skipping a gen either or buying a console when the next gen is still in its early years (especially since there's barely any good games at the start and previous consoles games would be a lot cheaper), I was still playing online on ps3 in 2016. I'm even playing through persona on ps3 right now though I do mostly game on xbox so haven't needed a reason to update to ps4.
Is for people from the United States the cost of a PS4 is a lot of money? I thought that the people in the USA are all rich and that is a small thing for them ...
@@dmitryaga001 You'll find rich people and poor people in every country. I'm not American but the rich poor divide is pretty obvious and a lot more people live closer to the poverty line than being rich. If everyone had money then there would be no need for food banks or homeless shelters.
Yup. Pretty much what I expected. PS3 players are either low income family kids or veteran gamers that don't play so much anymore. It still makes me kind of sad when I seee some kid asking if a title will be released for the PS3 in the comment section of youtube videos. I didn't get a PS4 until 2016 myself for financial reasons but I've been lucky enough to own a NES, a SuperNES, a Gameboy and a PS1 as a kid and then being able to buy a PS2, a PS3 and a PS4 with my own money. I don't want to think about it but at some point I guess I will stop gaming and be one of thos guys that turn on the old console occasionally out of nostalgia.

getting a ps4 in 2016 isn't late. The ps4 slim and ps4 pro was released on the end of 2016
@@jeyanthikamala1550 It's not super late but the PS4 was launched at the end of 2013 and the PS5 will be launched at some point in 2020, so 2016 it's pretty much the middle of its life cycle.

I have a ps5,ps4,ps3,ps2 and I've gone back to the ps2. I love the arcade style. Simple, challenging and fun. This video makes me want to go back online with ps3. Its crazy how a place where there use to be so many people. Now there are very few. Ps5 is a faster ps4. All playstations are just as fun. I love old games alot. Bo2 is the most active/alive game in the entirety of the PS3 console, you could find up to 20k-30k players online at one time (even today). Although it'll take over a decade from now at minimum for the PS4 to reach PS3's state right now.

Bo2 is active... if you want every game to be some modded lobby where it is basically a intense custom game. Trust me bo2 is my escape from bo4 and the corner kids, and 360 no scope look at me I'm a trickshot sniper kid.
Dang this brings back memories. My brother had a ps3 but after he got himself a ps4 he gave me his old ps3 for Christmas and to me that was just like... a dream come true. I played COD black ops, advanced warfare, battlefield 3, black ops 3, MW3, resistance 2 and 3, nino kuni wrath of the white witch, metal slug 1 and 2, Bioshock 1 2 & 3, all 3 dark souls, play station all stars, and minecraft!😂 at the time I was a little surprised people still played online on the ps3 when I played COD but it was always fun.... man those were the good days but it just stopped working all of a sudden so i through it out. Sad thing is I thought when a new PlayStation came out he'd give me his ps4 but he instead got a ps4 pro and sold his other ps4... RIP!
