    Lyrics:
She sits alone by a lamp post
Trying to find a thought that's escaped her mind
She says Dad's the one I love the most
    But Stipe's not far behind
    She never lets me in
Only tell me where's she's been
When she's had too much to drink
    I say that I don't care
I just run my hands through her dark hair
Then I pray to God, you gotta help me fly away and just
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing, if it eases all her pain
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
And if the sun comes up tomorrow
Let her be, let her be
This morning I woke up alone
Found a note standin' by the phone
Saying maybe, maybe I'll be back someday
I wanted to look for you
You walked in, I didn't know just what I should do
So I sat back down and had a beer and felt sorry for myself
    Saying...
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing, if it eases all her pain
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
And if the sun comes up tomorrow
    Let her be, oh
Last night I tried to leave
Cried so much, I could not believe
She was the same girl I fell in love with long ago
She went in the back to get high
I sat down on my couch and cried
Yelling, "Oh mama, please help me"
Won't you hold my hand and...
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing, if it eases all her pain
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
And if the sun comes up tomorrow
    Let her be
Let her cry, if the tears fall down like rain
Let her sing, if it eases all her pain
Let her go, let her walk right out on me
And if the sun comes up tomorrow
Let her be, oh, let her be

The man at 1:21 was my grandfather. He let them film the video at his shop. He died when I was a baby, but it's nice to see him in motion this video. Even if it's just a little bit, it's more than enough for me.

The 90s caliber of songwritting be it ballads, rap, r&b, metal, rock, alternative is just a chasm of separation from todays lyrics. The songwriting is just poetic, real, from the heart, and that is why it transcends time and still applies today - and it will still resonate 20 - 50 years from now.

Went through that with someone when I was in my early 20's. She didn't want to see what was right in front of her and got into shitty relationship after shitty relationship, turned to drugs to cope, and wound up dead a few years later. I'm in my 40's now, and married, and not a single day goes by where I don't think about what might have happened if I tried a little harder, or had the knowledge I have now back then. Some people just don't want to be saved, and that's the sad reality of it all.

It’s hard if not impossible to compete with a bottle, a pill, a line, a needle … for those of us that were determined to try, we learn that when in love with an addict, we’ll never be number one, and rarely even number two in their lives. I myself became an addict to join the misery instead of letting go.

We broke up and got back together many times and he used to tell me he listened to this song when he wasn’t with me and would sing it many times when we were together. 70’s-early 2000’s was real music and had meaning. Miss bands like Hooti and Mtchbox 20, Candlebox and the verve (can’t remember if it was them or pipe that sang the Freshman). Bob Segar, Lynyrd Skynyrd , Guns and Roses and even a lot of great country music at that time that I never listened to but as I got older I be learned to appreciate. Johnny Cadhes ‘ version of Hurt has claimed the same for himself. Even NIN lead singer Admits that.
