Charging customers obscene prices and not passing it on to the driver. I've been waving that flag for a whole year. It is totally BS.
Your Personal Driver Yeah, they run on ignorance of drivers and passengers. Very shady.
Today during high demand a passenger told me that Lyft charged him $26:37 for a 4.5 mile and when I looked at my earnings and I got paid only $9.00 then I went off line cause I realized I was getting robbed by Lyft. The passenger actually showed me the charge with indignation when the ride ended yet tipped me on top. Such unethical ripoff practice should be illegal.
I made a video on this shortly after the new terms of service came out. I had a ride to a military base. Uber's route had me going completely around the base to the main gate entrance which was a full 10 miles out of the way. The passenger's dropoff was actually right inside the closest gate to me from where I was coming. I didn't notice it until later. It was on a 3x something surge. Of course I got paid what I figured I would and thought nothing of it until I looked at the fare details. Uber actually took 67.6 percent of what the rider paid for the ride. Ridiculous.
OG Old Gamer Wow, that sucks so hardcore! It’s a really frustrating system.
OG Old Gamer that's your fault always go the longest way possible they have already paid for it
OG Old Gamer crooked company F Uber
This is a very informative video, thank you :)
I'm glad it was helpful! :D
Love your spunky info. Energy abounds!
Rocky Mtn Uber Camper girl Thanks!
Great content as always! I actually started driving full time last week. Going well only worth driving weekend nights for sure.
Justin Marquez Congratulations on going full time!! Drive safe!
Justin Marquez - make sure you get the dash cam you will regret not having proof of riders false claims!
This is definitely a very popular feeling! I'd get one, but... I'm cheap. Haha
Kym, so nice to see you back on the airwaves. I will have to check your priors now. Lets get more content out. Sometimes in conversation I will ask them what the trip estimate was. It is amazing how much more they pay and I get 80% of that. p.s. Looking good.
Uber DC Thank you! I’m probably going to try to record a video today.
Thanks for making the videos. I used your referral code for both services.
Thank you so much! I hope they got you a bit extra!
You are such a fun person :D
Suryashekhar Das Thank you! :D
GREAT video... I just subscribed to your channel. I love the fact how you give bullet points, are direct and waste no time... Honey where have you been all my life... LOL
Although I'm an old fart affiliated with the apps I'm watching all your videos because I like your style... Be safe on the roads and look forward to your videos...🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍👍👍⚘🍾
Haha thank you so much, I'm glad you like them!
Another thing to look for: always check your mileage, especially for long distance trips. Sometimes the app doesn't track the miles traveled, and your payout ends up being like $4 or $5 for a trip that was over 30 minutes long. I use Google Maps to calculate the mileage, then immediately send a message to support, letting them know that they need to fix the error.
jydaflyest Yeah, I’m definitely not surprised this happens!
You are truly entertaining I love it
Thank you!!
Love your videos! Thank you. Quick Silly question....So are you mainly driving Uber or Lyft now?
KNighTErRanTry YukiNamida雪淚 Thank you! You mean which one I drive for primarily between them? Uber I get more rides, but Lyft rides I prefer. I turn both apps on and take what I can get!
I see, Thank you so much. Do you have IG that I can follow? I guess I just need someone to share rider stories haha
Dear Munchkin, I love watching all of your videos. I am also driving in Idaho. I was wondering if you can tell us what kind of camera do you use to record your videos. Please also tell us what kind of camera do you use in your car for video and audio recording. Thank you.
I actually just record with my iPhone! The dashcam I use is Vantrue N2Pro.
I love your videos. :O) I'm not an Uber driver (I might) but I watch your vids.
Thank you, I'm so glad you like them! I do make videos on other things as well :)
great video, good info.
william carnley Thank you!!
So true. I've notice the same too.
Serge Antoine Yeah, super frustrating!
I ask them sometimes and I had a customer say they spent 80 something bucks and I barely made 15 bucks off the ride. They were shocked. We waited until I confirmed their dropoff and their eyes got big. From then on, I never pick up someone far away, and I also never drive someone where the time and trip distance don’t match up similarly. 0.225 per minute is nuts and some 5 mile rides take 30 mins and you end up barely making any money. Screw Lyft
I'm reviewing your channel on my livestream.
Ooo, that's awesome! I hope it was good! :P
Thank you for posting this. I agree on the "jerk move". I think we can figuratively call this "HIGHWAY ROBBERY".
JJ, The Karaoke Rideshare Driver Hahah yeah!
Yeah I payed 30$ for gas and only got 47$ is 5 hours for 7 trips which mean I made only 17 :(
That sucks! Gas prices rising definitely hurts right now. :\
I’m a driver for lyft and know exactly what your talking about . I’ve gone into my rides and more so than not lyft is making more money off rides than the driver. Which isn’t fair because we use our car , gas, insurance , etc . They updated their app to make it more difficult for the drivers to see how much they take from s ride compared to what lyft gets. Sucks big time!!!!
Lisa Locklear Totally! They’re gonna see more and more lawsuits on this.
EXACTLY! See my post about how i got 7.29 for the ride while Lyft took 16.59. WTF?
Rideshare companies ONLY care about more Billions in profit on the expense of drivers, this is NOT Capitalism it is GREED!
I stopped driving for Lyft once I confirmed they are not paying and showing the right calculation/fare. I had requested a ride for my aunt, they charged me $33 and we asked the driver how much was the fare, and he said $22. That's not including the fee, he only ended up cashing around $17. I wish someday drivers would sue them and pay the drivers the right amount for not being upfront and shady.
RandomEscape It would not be possible to sue, unfortunately, because it is within the contract that our fees are only based on time and distance, but hopefully there can be some way to fight this madness.
Munchkym I understand what I signed up for and how the fees work. But them having two fare calculations per ride is misleading and deceptive. They are hiding the fare discrepancy and that it should be disclosed in the contract. Love the short video and you really talk fast. You should have a Podcast lol
Yeah, it's deliberately deceptive and both Uber and Lyft do it. Very shady!
And thanks! I've been on a few podcasts, but don't currently have one.
Yeah, it's deliberately deceptive and both Uber and Lyft do it. Very shady!
And thanks! I've been on a few podcasts, but don't currently have one.
I actually looked back on some lyft rides I did from an 80% power zone. One ride was only about 10 minutes away and I would have normally gotten around $8.60 but because of the power zone I got like $15.25 ish. The passanger paid something like $14.95 and lyft actually lost $0.30 on that ride.
Well, as I said in the video, Lyft you can't see the extra they charge on top of it, though.
@@munchkym I generally ask the driver how much you get. As I can see Lyft gets %68 of the pie on average, the driver gets 32 % of the pie. If I pay 50$ to Lyft, the driver gets $16. I think it is not fair but this is real life.
hi how many hours do you drive around on an average day, and yes your videos are really good, can write an book over it!!
Thank you!! I actually don't drive extremely often, I simply do a lot of research and notice trends when I do drive. I drive every weekend that I'm free, but I travel a lot so there are quite a few weekends that I skip. :)
Lyft now doesn’t pay us anymore cancellation fees. I drove many times to pick up customers and they cancelled after 10 to 15 minutes, but their system showed that the rider cancelled within 2 minutes, so they gave me a hard time paying me my cancellation bonus.
Murad Osman Always take screenshots! Both apps are very (and possibly intentionally) glitchy!
munchkym I just started doing that a few days ago. The only thing I can’t prove is when the customer claims they cancelled the ride because I didn’t arrive at the estimate time that was expected, which is a complete bullshit cause I don’t stop anywhere or hit traffic since I work overnight. Complete scam, man.
Even worse news folks, you can drive a passenger in a 25-30 miles ride then Lyft system rips you off and pays for a 15 miles ride! Contact "Suppory" and the answer is "copy/paste" you got paid the right amount and the right distance. Fucking RIDICULOUS, Rideshare companies ONLY care about more Billions in profit on the expense of drivers. Capitalism turned into GREED!
I've been with you Uber and Lyft for over eight years and every year I make less money I told them whoever heard of a job making less instead of making more money each year what a joke
Absolutely, they're just ridiculous.
Great video! I had my first long distance pick up yesterday. 189 miles one way! I they could not speak any English....lol Love Google translate!
Brian Young Haha that’s fantastic!! Google translate would definitely come in handy then!
Brian Young how far was the trip from pick-up? much did you get paid for that and how far did you have to drive for your next pick-up?
AJFresh it was just a couple minutes to pick them up period after driving the hundred eighty nine miles I have to drive 189 miles back.
Brian Young you drive at least 276mi. how much did they pay you for the fare?
AJFresh it ended up being about $180. It was also on Lyft so even if it was a long pickup I would not have got anything extra for it like uber does
The same thing goes on in taxi business. Especially on contract calls we get paid one rate the taxi company gets another higher rate. I am curious since Uber operates the same way the taxi cab business operates do you guys notice that other drivers get pinged more then you on average even if your in same vicinity. What I have heard is the algorithm will spread revenue around so as to keep all drivers on basically the same per hour rate. If they move revenue around they can get more drivers on road..
I'm not sure, but that does sound quite plausible!
I'm a lyft driver in a fairly good metro area (tampa) . I found out airport rides are a waste of time . Waiting an hour for a 5 min ride. How is ur take on airport rides.
I absolutely agree! Airport rides can be great in some cities, but they are absolutely not worth it for me.
all my rides I made from da Indianapolis airport 100.00 or more I do this on da side part time
No one would put up with this from a taxi company, it;s the passengers who should sue them not the drivers. The drivers are actually getting exactly 75% of what they drove.
Lets for example imagine a taxi company giving you a fair estimate of $40, but at the end the meter only read $35, if the taxi driver said, on you need to pay the original estimate, people would revolt, but Uber and Lyft are both doing it and because the customers don't know better they say nothing.
I actually ask about 30% of my Lyft fairs what they paid and its more every single time.
Honestly, people should revolt.
that ring on ur bottom lip is it for style or for some medical issue ?
Vladimir Putin I’m not sure what medical issue would require a lip ring but it’s definitely there because I like it.
Ugh, absolutely freaking horrible. So unethical!
Ive seen lyft make more on rides then i have i ask cuatomers all the time they have no problem showing u if anything its gets them on ur side and usaully it will get u a tip cuz they see ur being screwed
Yeah, like I said, Lyft is taking more than they show, which is unfortunate!
I started driving part time in December 2016 in northern Va to supplement my seasonal work as a landscaper in the winter. They also used to have better bonuses when I started. Like get 20 rides in a weekend and they’ll give you $200 or get 50 in a month for $500. Not anymore. Now it’s get 5 rides in an hour they determine for an extra $10... That’s it. No more big $$$ bonuses.
I also started in December 2016 and you're totally right, it was waaaay better back then.
munchkym Yeap.
Thumbs up to you. Thumbs down to Uber and Lyft. Shame on them. Thank you for your knowledge.
Yeah, they're trying to pull one over on us! Thank you!
So as a update, is lyft and urber still worth it? I'm leaving my job to do this as a only source of income.
Mark Vanderhoff I would not do it as my only source of income, it’s too unreliable.
I already tried that but I genuinely regret it. Rideshare companies ONLY care about more Billions in profit on the expense of drivers, Capitalism turned into GREED! DO NOT QUIT YOUR REGULAR JOB AS RIDESHARE COMPANIES ARE WAY UNRELIABLE
Also how long have you been driving that their was 20%? It's been a flat 25% for me and I've been driving since March.
TSBilliards86 I’ve been driving since Dec. 2016. And, again, Lyft is not showing you all of what they’re charging the passengers.
TSBilliards86 - it’s a flat 25% of the ride not the rider fees or what the rider pays. It’s a scam. We need a union!
A union would be great, but since we're contractors and not employees, they could deactivate anyone who even whispers the word "union" with no repercussions.
Zem Zem I think y'all just need to calm down. If you think it's a scam don't drive for a ride sharing business. Go see how well the taxi business is doing...
TSBilliards86 If you don’t care, cool, but it’s silly telling others not to care about being wronged.
My understanding is that we still get 75% of time and distance but Uber charges more of a service fee and that number tends to go up and down. It’s a sneaky trick but I guess coming from a company that’s losing money and needs to be profitable, this could help fix that. Our only hope is that the rates increase for us. It needs to happen.
It would be great if rates increase for us, but I seriously doubt they will. :\
Do you make more at night or during the day?
Dolphins1997 Definitely at night, but I don’t drive weekdays so I can’t say for sure.
my experience has been that lyft is taking more than they should from customer
case in point i ask !!!
customer pays 42.80 for a ride
I get 13 and change and wait I got 3 dollar bonus Yea
oh wait this was a 10.8 mile ride
so why no tip because poor old lady just payed a lot of money for the ride !!!!
Have you ever had someone cancel as soon as you got them to their destination?
007 Extended I haven’t, no, but I’ve heard of this!
No. Lyft is doing just as shady as Uber. I had a ride where they took a good chunk of my cut. I only knew about it because the passenger was complaining to her boyfriend about the price of her ride, which was only $7, yet i only got $3.65. That's not 20-25% at all.
Charles Eddy Jr Yeah, I said in the video Lyft is doing it too. Suuuucks :/
You're lucky in Albuquerque New Mexico you'll drive 6-7 MILES to give somebody a couple of miles ride and make a whopping $2.25. Rideshare companies ONLY care about more Billions in profit on the expense of drivers, Capitalism turned into GREED!
I'm not shady but I bet somebody else is & they may take this to Uber & try to get your account "deleted" shall I say? But I agree with what you are saying... I go back and forth personally on whether I wanna do Uber/Lyft with my car.. 🤷♂️ Thanks for the videos love 😍👋
Runnin' Wild with Milwaukee Buck! Haha Uber canceling me for this would be illegal.
@@munchkym Right! ☺😋
Could you not get a friend to book a test ride on lyft and have them reveal the cost to you? Less embarrassing and you'd get the data you're after?
You could but you'd risk deactivation. It's against ToS to intentionally get rides like that. Plus you're likely to not actually get them because they often try to ping to someone not quite as close to prevent people from manipulating the system.
I did ride not to long ago when I got 5.25 and uber got 6.41 when I contacted uber what's up with the math? they told me I got what I sing up for.
Ideas To Life Yeah, basically. Sucks! :/
I accepted a ride on lyft and turned out he is my classmates after the ride ended i asked him how much did the charges you... He said 7.39$
When they actually pay me for that ride only 3.00$
So pretty much both are the same
To0oty I Yeah, a lot of people don’t believe Lyft is charging more, but asking the pax makes it totally clear.
thank you. the ones behind a desk not "digging the ditch" always find a leagal wey to steal. thanks for pointing out a turd in the tootsie rolls.
Totally. When it comes down to it, they'll try to get away with whatever they think they can. :|
Nope. This morning I had a ten dollar ride. Passenger paid 33$
I updated my app and now the fare details are not there
On Uber??
Enters ROC’N Ride coming soon to a city near you
On average $4 more per ride for the driver with cheaper rates for the rider and a better experience for everyone.
Look for it website launches in May ‘19
Hopefully they actually have riders, most new apps fail cause no one switches to them.
Hi.pleass tell if someone getting rent car for lyft how to hav it n things not to do after it
I'm sorry, I'm having a hard time understanding your question. Can you rephrase?
munchkym sorry for ny creepy english:).i was requestion you to guide me n others by ur new videos on how to get a rental car for driving lyft and uber.and please speak slow on video.i sometimes hav to pause to read what u said.u speak like lazer gun lol.
And yes can u pm you or do you hav other sourve to contact you for more info
No problem at all! I'm currently learning French, Spanish, and Italian and I know how hard it is to communicate in a different language.
Personally, I don't know a lot about the rental programs. I know that they are useful for some people, but it really depends on how popular the service is in your city. Here in my city, I would not do a rental because it costs more than I would make, but in very big cities, I know people have had a lot of success.
As far as talking slower, on UA-cam you can slow down videos using the settings. A lot of my viewers find this useful. :)
And yes miss I've asked riders to see their fair amount hahaha and I've notice they're ripping us apart and not fair at all. I swear i hear me ,Listening to you talking about this uber/lyft thing lol
Serge Antoine Haha yeah, it’s really unfair! I’m glad we’re on the same wavelength haha
I have been driving for Uber and Lyft for over 8 years what they're doing I used to get 80% of the fair like she said now I get anywhere from 55 to 62%. That's what it comes out to every year I make less money and every year they charge in the customers more and igiving the drivers less even sometimes don't make more than the driver an example I took a guy I guess about a mile and a half they charge them 13 and I made four they changed the way that they had their surges. I've sent them multiple letters and emails and it does no good they don't understand that we want the money we don't care about these stupid benefits that they say they have to give us an offer us just give us 75% of the fair or 70% of the fair so if you charge the customers more we should be paid accordingly
Short distance (Less than 3 miles) drive is kinda not fair for driver... It will be Uber 7$ (Uber 4$, Driver 3$), Lyft 6.6$ (Lyft 3.6$ Driver3$)..... And we normally drive 1~2 miles to pick up the rider so not worth it at all -_-
Unfortunately, in my city that's most of the drives. Haha
I did a trip yesterday. Uber chargers the rider $27 dollars. Of that $27 I got $10.42. I feel like uber takes close to half of most all of my trips.
Yeah, that's exactly how it works. :(
@munchkm - great videos ! We need a ride share driver union to lower these fees and other issues!
Zem Zem If we were employees, yes, but since we’re contractors, nothing protects us from deactivation for calling for a union. :(
I had my lyft video go viral I proved lyft is ripping off drivers
Cool!
You are wrong saying “but this is the contract you agreed to!” The contract says you are an independent contractor. That in itself doesn’t give Uber and Lyft the right to rewrite and flip upside down the law. The concept of independent contractor is legally defined and there are established criteria to determine if the driver is an employee or independent contractor. Because they have so much control over the drivers and the pricing of the service and the handling of the money, that makes the drivers employees. So if drivers could prove that they are more employees than independent contractors, drivers are entitled to employee benefits such as minimum wage, overtime, operating expenses, workers comp, unemployment insurance, breaks and lunches and any other lost benefit under the law along with interest, penalties and attorneys fees if you hire a lawyer to do the legal work for you. So yes, you signed a contract with Lyft and Uber but it does not mean they could steal you and use your money to unfairly game out the system and achieve competitive advantage with other transportation companies. Remember that Lyft and Uber are accused of driving Sidecar out of business. That not only affected Sidecar, but also minimized the drivers’ chances to seek other clients. Sidecar was a better and more legit company than Uber and Lyft but they never had enough capital to compete and as the saying goes “ money talks and bs walks!” Well, to do something about it, three or four things must start to happen. Some have already started, but the fight is way far from over:
1. More lawsuits are needed both as individual and class action. Just make sure the lawyers you are dealing with are not too greedy to settle fast but change nothing.
2. Drivers need to start contacting their representatives and telling them about the corruption of Lyft and Uber and the urgent need to clarify or amend the laws in favor of more workers rights (both as employees and independent contractors.)
3. Spread awareness among decent consumers that cheaper is not always better on the long run and that drivers are in need of their rally and support. Have consumers start contacting Uber and Lyft about overcharging them extras and mistreating drivers.
4. Drivers need to organize themselves and start acting like groups. Uber and Lyft have been using “divide and conquer” to keep drivers isolated from each other and from consumers. The entire business model they use, which is based on an app lacks transparency and controls all financial and performance aspects of the transaction. It is ridiculous that the drivers agree to that, but it is understandable because of desperation. However, if the drivers are starting to feel the heat and want to do something about it, they must get themselves familiar with the law and read more about misclassification and contract law. Although with few exceptions, drivers are not allowed to unionize, they need to start unionizing and use the argument that they are more employees than independent contractors and use collective bargaining to improve their working conditions and earnings. Nothing comes at free tab and there will be no exceptions for the drivers. Wish you all the best.
Wow, this was super long. Much of it is true, but I'm not sure this is the space to rally up the base.
munchkym, sure you are right. Give me a fraction of the money Lyft and Uber have and I will find a better and bigger space to rally the base. If every driver does her part and stand up to the bullies, the myth of Lyft and Uber would disappear in a very short time. Besides, there are many great drivers out there who are courageous and informed and they are trying to do something about it. The more I think about the scam, the more it makes me sick because how could you let someone use your out of pocket money and valuable assets and expose your life to danger every day decides how much you should charge a customer for your services and threatens you with deactivation if you do not measure up to their expectations? This is the new wave of slavery that we tried to put down long time ago coming back to haunt our neighborhood. The Uber and Lyft phenomenon is bigger than what we think. There are about 50% of employers doing the same thing. Workers want to be independent contractors to achieve more freedom and better earnings, not to forfeit their rights and risk their minimum wage under labor laws. Soon if we do not act, this scam of independent contracting will be used to confiscate what remained of personal wealth to enrich greedy startups. I read about a case when the truck driver workers ware asked to buy very expensive trucks that the company stopped providing to continue employment. The truck drivers did not have the money to buy the trucks, so the company offered loans to finance the trucks for the drivers. The company turned into a banking business charging finance interest withholding wages earned to pay off the loans! This may sound outrageous, but Lyft and Uber who lie to customers giving the false impression that they are transportation companies like taxi business own no fleet or any valuable assets besides an app that most drivers would not want and could do without. Lyft and Uber are now in the leasing business and God only knows what kind of deal they have with car dealers! Anyway, you seem to be smart enough to realize the danger of replacing employment with a mode of business placing all risk on the worker where you have major hidden expenses that you are not accounting for. You get $700 per week deposit in your bank account thinking that was good money for working 30-40 hours until you realize that you need to change your transmission or buy a new car and that you have been paying too much for your gas, insurance and phone service and still have to pay your taxes, not to mention that you missed on paying for your workers compensation and unemployment insurance. Of course you may forget about holiday pay, vacations, sick pay, overtime, and health insurance. That is a great way of “sharing” the economy! This is the new style of doing business--more exploitation and more oppression so that people like Kalanick become billionaires! Is there good reason to say NO to the sharing economy? Many people are renting out rooms in their houses risking their privacy to strangers in order to pay their costly mortgage. Is that a positive indicator? Well, I could not make it any shorter to make my point, and since you are on UA-cam already, you could make a difference spreading the message!
I just did a ride. Charged the customer 110$. I got 13$. Awesome. Bye Lyft.
There have been times when Uber has taken 70% of the fare because of their booking and service fees. It is ridiculous. I will be driving more for Lyft.
How To Make Money Online Ethically Yeahhh it suuucks
How To Make Money Online Ethically unfortunately Lyft is the same shit they just don’t show you how much their booking fee go to google and put Lyft prices in your city and you will see Uber shows the details are Lyft don’t
John m You are right, I do not drive for Lyft anymore.
I'm making money with lyft part time and no issues but the end of da year I must save all receipts for da irs
Now I'm just wondering is Uber and Lyft worth driving for. Please let me know what you think are you still driving for them
I don't drive very often, but that's because of my schedule. I know a lot of people have quit because they didn't feel it was worth it a lot.
@@munchkym yeah I'm only able to do it two maybe three times a week I tried to do it enough to make my monthly car payment but in order to do that I have to go out around 7 and stay out until 4 a.m. which is kind of rough
@@mitchellharris7933 That's personally the hours I like, but definitely not for everyone!
The money doesn't just "go to Uber" and get put into a piggy bank for the Uber people up top, lol. The only way to pay the developers, support staff and other workers behind the scenes is with that same money. How else do they get paid?
Peeling Pedaler Wow thank you for explaining basic business
I would love to get my grubby little hands on Uber's financial statements so I can figure out precisely how they manage to lose billions. Hey I'm a CPA, give me a break!
Robert Slydell Referral bonuses. If they can keep drivers instead of focusing so much on new drivers, they’ll be just fine. But they don’t want to do the one thing drivers all care about; pay more.
Rideshare companies ONLY care about more Billions in profit on the expense of drivers, Capitalism turned into GREED!
UBER is wicked. They charged us more than double for our ride home. The price changed AFTER we requested the ride. When I asked our driver what happened he showed me how much he was paid. He was paid $44.00 we paid $94. UBER didn't only rip us off but they also ripped off the driver. We will think twice before using UBER again.
charging 40% is way too much 10-15% is ok cause u do the work and with the mass on drivers out even 15% or 10% will do the job
Agreed!
...Uber frequently makes more money than I do...that's not right, that's not fair..a day of financial reckoning is coming for the good people at Uber..till them, I am motivated to take money away from them..put my credentials on a business card...my calender on my phone app is filling up with riders who are also dissatisfied...what Uber doesn't know won't hurt them, Kym....LOL
Pep's 2004 vette As long as you don’t end up with an insurance issue, go for it!
I think drivers should tell passengers Uber overcharged them for the fare, just shoot the passenger a text and let them know they shouldn't pay uber over a certain amount. If drivers don't get paid Ube should not get paid .
شركة اويا للاعلام i don’t really think that would work cause there’s too many drivers.a
I used to be an Uber customer til they double charged me for 1 ride. And i had to let chase know so that they could disbute the charge and send me a new card. Im not bout to play with them when it comes to my MONEY.
That sounds frustrating as hell!
Mamiya Phan fuck u bitch im not cheap...
Is there any difference left between Angel and this Uber girl?
Anuj Chauhan Who is Angel?
@@munchkym ...I'm sure that you instantly figured out that he was making a crude reference to you being an "Angel from heaven" but you wanted to yank his chain just to see what the reply would be. It has been 4 months now and I think one of two things. You called him out and he's embarrassed to carry on with the conversation or he just wanted to make a crude comment and walk away. I'm voting on the latter camp.
Rickbearcat Could go either way haha
I made good money this weekend Fri-Sun worked 36hrs total plus bonus for 70 rides it was fun got about 60 dollars on tips because of the type car i was driving also it was my first time. what u think
Jose Contreras what car do you drive?
merkflip 2014 Subaru wrx I got so many compliments
Jose Contreras Nice, I drive a 2011 civic Si. A lot of people are surpise that I drive a stick. that's almost all I talk about anytime i drive.
yeah same here my foot hurts after a while of driving on them crazy hill streets. Is it okay to avoid them steep roads for safety reason. what area do you operate.
Jose Contreras I drive around chicago. It's mostly flat so i don't have that problem
I’m trying to not pay 400$ FOR SOMETHING I DIDNT DO
Why am I watching random uber's tips from a woman from the other hemisphere at 4am in the morning of a saturday?
It's fun though... somehow =)
I even subscribed... What am I doing with my life? lol
Because sometimes that's just what you do. :P
Thanks for subscribing and glad they were enjoyable! :)
If people would quit driving for Uber, they might see that and change something.
It’s nearly impossible to organize drivers and the risk of scabs is too big. Need a union!
Girl u the shit.
Gerilynn Shaw Haha thank you!
Uber is not a taxi service, it's a way to share a ride, in reality, drivers should be ride-sharing with regularity and leave the taxi business to taxis
It is a taxi service. A poorly-regulated one.
@@munchkymit's not a taxi service, it's an app that people have tried to live off of but it's no good for that because your riders don't pay for the depreciation of a car or even the fuel or tires, it just a losing proposition, only people who don't mind running their car into the ground or lose all the depreciation of a new car to a ten year old car in two years....those people prevent it from being a taxi service. Learn from taxi services what it costs for a taxi to make money, those businesses never made anyone much money.
It's like McDonalds uses Parents to house their employees, McDonaldd is not a real restersuny because they don't hire chefs, they hire kids living at home.
You are very smart. Great videos. Remember, Uber is watching.
You are too cute. Move to Florida and marry me...
Thank you! And uhh no thank you.
Lyft calls us independent contractor
This seems more like a job employer relationship
So you pay 20 dollars for a ride
The driver is only getting about 7.68 on the ride
This is fucked up......
I agree completely. They call it independent contractors in order to skirt worker regulations. I definitely feel it's more employer-worker.
@@munchkym
Hi Long time no talk
I want to address this issue
I drive in Upstate NY there's times when Lyft sends me into NYC with a passenger
Upon crossing NYC I'm breaking the law
In the lower counties like Yonkers and NYC in order to do ride-sharing you have to have all of your TLC credentials plates license etc.
Now I have explained to Lyft and their wonderful customer service and I get 3 different explanations
I want to find out if I get a fine while dropping someone off or vehicle impoundment is Lyft responsible since they sent me there in the 1st place.
@@ralphabreu5022 Most likely Lyft would say “it’s the driver’s responsibility to make sure they are compliant” so probably it would be all up to you. They love blaming drivers.
@@munchkym
Thank you nice hearing from you
While your videos have been helpful I still feel pity those that have to do this full time. Single digit fare payouts, crap passengers that always use pool/line thanks to uber and lyft always promoting this service it's too stressful.
BosworthINC I
I totally agree.
Are you a Taurus?
Nope
😁😁😁👌🖒

If you want to know anything about Uber or lift I got all the stories for you
>Uber loses money
>Uber overcharges and underpays
>You can do a ride-sharing app better and are making one now
Pick one!
I don’t think these are mutually exclusive.
#paydriversfare
For real!
Why do you want to be a driver munchkyn?
Chris Baker I enjoy interacting with people and the best hobbies are the ones that pay you.
We can see what Rider paid on Lyft and it sucks
shockawha9 Have you confirmed that with a passenger? I think you’ll find there’s money missing if you do.
munchkym I can’t see Fare Details until after the ride
Why should you feel ashamed to ask passengers what they pay Uber? If you were in a taxi, the fair you pay is on their screens. Everyone in that situation knows exactly what they are paying and being paid. It is completely transparent. Your passengers should have zero problems with telling you how much they paid for your services.
It just makes people uncomfortable to talk about money and you're also holding them up.
@@munchkym ...I completely disagree with you on principle. I also can understand your position from a common sense perspective. You get enough people uncomfortable with you and that dings your ratings and before you know it, you're out of a job. I get that. And yet, you need to find a way to educate your passengers. At least the ones that are worth educating; as in they have the smarts to understand the situation between you and Uber as a business relationship.
From watching your videos, this is the way I see it. Uber owns no infrastructure. Uber owns no cars. Uber provides you with no repair help either in a partnership with a major auto repair facility or through discounts to use one. Uber has no insurance to protect its drivers and lower their cost of operation. Uber has done one thing...made a software app that connects a rider with a driver. That's it. Why, on the driver's side of things, they (colloquially and collectively) put up with this dysfunctional relationship is beyond me. Uber is straight up stealing from its drivers. But there is nothing actionable for the drivers to do because they have signed a digital contract and agreed to its contents. If real change is going to happen, drivers need to unionize and force that change. And that is why you need to start asking your fares to tell you what they are paying. You are allowing Uber to remain in control of the information space and this is holding the workers of Uber hostage. Information is the key to winning; on both sides.
Do you drive full time? If you do, you should stop. Only drive uber and lyft part time. It's great for that extra cash. I would not recommend driving full time.
merkflip I do not and I myself have said multiple times that it’s best as part time or between jobs.
munchkym what do you do other than being a driver and youtuber?
merkflip Work full time at a university.
munchkym that's pretty cool?
merkflip I enjoy it!
What kills me is the comment to “tip your driver”….you show Uber is ripping off the drivers and overcharging the riders. Then the riders (already overcharged) are supposed to tip more money to supplement the drivers for the money underpaid by Uber….it makes no sense….so basically its a win win for Uber…with no consequences.
Keith Hester We definitely should be holding these companies accountable. But as long as I’m using the service, I’ll do my part to ensure the driver is getting more fairly compensated.
your gonna get fired thats how this works haha
Huh?
Lyft and uber they steal from the riders and the drivers but for me I hate lyft and I prefer uber over lyft
Abdulla Husein I’m the opposite, it’s all personal preference haha
You look like you've lost weight in the last year. You didn't look fat before, you just look thinner now. Also: how many miles does your car have? Do you pay for the routine maintenance? The cost of owning a car increases with age and Lyft doesn't compensate you for that.
Just a tip for you; never comment on someone’s weight.
My car has around 110,000 miles on it. I get it serviced when I feel I need to.
No...I disagree
Riders did not agree to be lied to and manipulated or screwed.
What Uber/Lyft is doing is what defined corporate america today - bunch of liars.
Confused about what you disagree on, that sounds like what I said haha
munchkym. No...I believe you stated drivers agreed to and signed on to be lied to.
That's.... not what I said. They did sign ToS which states these things, but that doesn't make it right.
munchkym who agrees to get screwed over their money?
In other words capitalism turned into GREED by Rideshare companies
It's called tracking with Excel (I'm a math nerd). The most I've seen Lyft take out is 25.05%. They do miss out on tolls, but that's where you need to call them out and they will reimburse you back the toll...If you're in a state with tolls that is. A 5% increase isn't that big of a deal in my opinion.
TSBilliards86 First of all my full time job is in data management for a university so I definitely know excel.
But are these numbers based on asking the passenger what they paid? Because, like I said in the video, Lyft doesn’t show you what they actually charged the passenger.
munchkym Not saying you don't know excel. It's a great tool everyone should use it for 1099 work.
If you go to the dashboard and go under driver history it will breakdown each ride for you. I data mine all my rides and haven't seen anything alarming. I still think it's cool that you put out these videos to inform drivers.
TSBilliards86 Like I said in the video, though, they charge more on top of what you see there. Lyft doesn’t show us everything.
munchkym They have a right as a company to charge booking, service, and airport fees as they please. If they are charging more than those that would be a cause for concern.
If anything the rider is getting ripped off and not the driver.
Don't hate me...
I wanna marry you
No thank you.
@2:01 Moron drives?
"more on drives"
Oh my God.you are talking sooo fast and I didn't understand one word from you
There are accurate captions and you can slow down the video in settings. Hope that helps!
I don't think Uber and Lyft make a profit so I guess consumers are the winners.
UTSB - lol you must be kidding! Uber has a net worth in the tens of billions!
evaluation was 70 billion. And net worth does not equal evaluation. Uber total loss in 2017 is around 4 billion USD. And yes its a fact Uber since day one didn't make a profit at all. it was a huge evaluation caused by the huge investment by saudi arabia
How can one lose actual money when they have a few huge mainframe computer servers and a very few offshore customer/driver resource lines? The reason they are worth 70 billion is that you do all the labor, supply all the materials and they take 25-50 percent for booking the rides through your phone. Saudi Arabia didn't put $70 billion in. Loses are to avoid taxation. Trust me the principals don't pay a penny to eat dinner or fly their Lear Jet from London to Tokyo to see Macca in concert and they grab $100,000 a day for pocket change. Uber didn't make a profit and neither has Standard Oil (Exxon Mobil) for 100 years.
@jackson it worth 70 billion because saudi arabia invest a huge amount with small share so the evaluation went too high. Why saudi arabia did that evaluation because it stupid country that have 0 correct investment decision. Exoon Mobile have a profit and they release the data yearly!! Uber loses money its simple and when Uber do and IPO you will see the exact data.
It's complicated.
Find a real job!!!
lol I have 4 jobs
