HOW TO PAINT A WOLF | My Process for Painting Realistic Fur

Mars Black, Vandyke Brown, Paynes Grey, Grey, Cool Grey, Raw Umber, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, Raw Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Titanium White, Cobalt Blue, Pearl deep brown, Gold, Indian Yellow, Mauve Pale, Phthalo Blue, Bordeaux Red, Mars Brown, Sky Blue, Olive Green, Yellow Green, Viridian Green, Prussian green, Emerald Green and Phthalo Green.

Do you only use water to thin out your paint? When I thin out my paint it bubbles weirdly or is too translucent. Beautiful painting!
Hi James, yes just water, I would say that you are probably using slightly too much water which causes the bubbling effect. The watered down paint is very translucent for me too. You just have to build up lots and lots of layers or splash out and buy some very highly pigmented paint. I find just building up lots of layers works the best though
Great job! How often do you wash your brush as you paint?
Thanks! Usually when I swap between colours or change to a different sized brush. Because I work using very watered down paint I’m constantly keeping the brush quite clean. I don’t change the water though until the very end when I do the final colour glazes.
