just got my RK68 (RK855) earlier. I wasn’t aware that there was an RK837 for a hotswapable version.... oh well that feature is not at the top of my list anyways. Glad i got this model since it works will with my macbook. At first I thought that the media keys are gone but the seller said that it still works its just that the newer models don’t have the icons of it on their keycaps
spacebar rattles I guess is coming from the switches itself, I got the same exact mkb as yours but with rk reds and mine got little to no rattle at all. freakin smooooooth
Really good board, Kailh hotswap with even recessed LEDs, which was a good surprise for me since there was hardly any reviews on the G68 when i first bought it. I had assumed it had protruding LED like the other billion models (and i agree there is so many diff versions, like the ones sold in the US seems to differ ). My only complains was the horrible BT at first before flashing, which i hope they would fix soon out of box, and the really weak RGB (at least on my black model). A great board for only 70 dollars here which is about 52 USD only. Great review that i wished i had when i first bought this keyboard.
I have 2 RK boards currently the RK61 & RK84 and you know what bang for buck RK boards are fantastic especially if you're willing to put in a couple of hours of work lubing, swapping, switches and installing some case foam. These boards are seriously undervalued and they over deliver on function in form. I can't complain at all about what you get for the price.
@@gianbello9571 honestly I love them both... The RK61 is great as a travel board goes everywhere my laptop goes. And the RK84 is great for my home PC. Both are amazing I might go for the RK 68 to replace the 61 in the near future.

I think Rk68 is different anf RK g68 is another keybaord from RK, thats why the Rk86 doesnt have those you mentioned (im not sure tho, its just what i think it is)

I bought the same model like yours a couple weeks back and yesterday I decided to mod it. I bought foam for the plate and pcb but to my surprise when I openned it the foam is already included in the case and pcb even on the space bar in between the switch and the stabs. I guess the RK G68 which come latest will have it included inside. Which is if compared to other brand one of the best choices so far. I just swapped the switch with gat milky yellow pro and xda profile keycaps. The stabs itself is already good out of the box but I swapped it with durock v2. So far having no complaint. Pretty good keyboard for people who just want to start the hobby or just curious about the mechanical keyboard scene. RGB, 3 mode connections, hotswapable it have all the basic needs on it.
Hello! Thinking to get this and mod it so i have some questions too. The foam you are referring to is the one in between and not at the base right? How long can the battery last after being fully charged? Would I need to recharge it frequently?
@@blueraineee there's somekind like poron foam in between the pcb and the plate. There's also a thin layer of foam on the bottom as well. The battery of my usage is pretty good. Used it for 1.5 weeks (6-8 hours) but still no low battery indication but I never turn on any RGB and I used it via wireless dongle, so yeah I think the battery is pretty good.

the rk brown switch is a clone of a cherry mx brown, specifically Jixian switches. they are a little heavier with an actuation force of ~60g and an actuation distance of 2mm. they are a little higher pitched but they are pretty silent. in my opinion, browns are really unsatisfying because of their light tactility. If you are a touch typist, you won't feel the tactility, but overall, they are a really good starter switch.

Hey, I am curious as to how it charges when it is in wired mode. Does yours blink 5 times when it is fully charged? Mine blinks 3 times when plugged to wired mode and after 10 hrs of using while plugged, it is still not fully charged. idk if my keyboard is defective or not. Need help :(((
yep! i mostly use it in that mode and it lasts me around a week (of daily use and maximum rgb brightness) before Fn starts flashing (low battery indicator), i also switch it off whenever i dont use it to extend battery life a little more👌
the rk68 plus have a slightly different layout and it have a light indicator for battery and connection. but if you prefer for more compact sizes rk68 is better choices. both are the same tbh...

Nice review. I have the 855 model which is also hot swappable. I had a set of switches lying around and I replaced the original RK Browns with Outemu purples, as they are more tactile and require slightly more force to actuate. I had to lube the switches and they are more quiet now. The space bar rattled also lubing the stabilizers solved the noise. I just wished the keycaps were thicker. They are thinner than my RK61 caps. However, the font is very clean and legible.

I suggest you don't. I tried the G68 firmware on my RK837 (old version) and it messed up the wired feature on my keyboard. Luckily I found the original firmware and got it back to working condition.

Ctrl + Fn, and then Fn + F11 or F12 should do the job I really hate the layering The first layer is Default: numbers Fn: F rows After Ctrl + Fn Default: F rows Fn: the Media keys and small function And Ctrl + fn again to change it back.
hi! TTC is another brand of switches. RK switches are made by royal kludge specifically for their keyboards. i believe some RK keyboards do have TTC switches though, but u should be able to tell them apart since "RK" or "TTC" is engraved on the top housing ^_^
I would suggest updating the title of this vid - your keyboard is not the RK68 aka RK855, you got the RKG68 aka RK837 instead. It's a bit confusing when people search for reviews.

How did you flash to resolve the bluetooth issue?
Yeah black keyboards seem to make the LED seem a bit less lighter. White makes the LED pop more.

RK68 on Amazon does not have the 2-port USB hub. RK84 does.
There also is no longer 2.4GHz of the RK84 and I believe this may have also had the removable frame of the RK84 but no longer.

hi, yes the spacebar is 6.25 :) the things u need to watch out for it the 1u alt, fn, ctrl on the lower right + the 1.75u shift since its a 65% keeb!
Buy a 100+ keycaps set instead. Hehe

Anyone knows how to increase or decrease volume? Pressing fn + 2/3 does not increase nor decrease volume; neither does pressing fn + 7/8 which the keycaps indicated
I heard it only works on Mac
Ctrl + Fn, and then Fn + F11 or F12 should do the job
I really hate the layering
The first layer is
Default: numbers
Fn: F rows
After Ctrl + Fn
Default: F rows
Fn: the Media keys and small function
And Ctrl + fn again to change it back.

hi! TTC is another brand of switches. RK switches are made by royal kludge specifically for their keyboards. i believe some RK keyboards do have TTC switches though, but u should be able to tell them apart since "RK" or "TTC" is engraved on the top housing ^_^

I would suggest updating the title of this vid - your keyboard is not the RK68 aka RK855, you got the RKG68 aka RK837 instead. It's a bit confusing when people search for reviews.

no dedicated media keys but on mac, use Fn + number row! i dont know how this keyboard works with media keys on windows though sorry 😢
