Hey Mr. Kohle can you make a video about PAN LAW? I found that my help hard panned guitars to sound better when reproduced on small systems like cellphones or clip speakers
You guys are so awesome! 💀💀 Never before has it been possible to learn techniques like this from real professionals in the industry without burying yourself in a lifetime of debt. Amazing knowledge and experience put into comprehensive packages! 👏👏
Kristian got a total roasting from Bad Hair Detective for the death metal contest and is refusing to hand over $13,000 worth of prizes (including plugins from Bogren). He’s also deleting comments that mention the prizes. If you’re reading this go watch the BHD video for yourself… Kristian and Warren are shady af!
I have the OwnHammer HH II pack. And there’s definitely choice overload! I don’t know how to choose an IR for the mix. You hear a lot about something “fitting the mix”. If this topic is covered in the master class, I’m definitely in!
Just to be able to get this knowledge is absolutely amazing. I don't have the capability to become a member right now. But I appreciate the free information that is being put out there.
Thanks ti your videos ì discover how much a cabinet and the speaker are important for The guitar sound so i started make my own IR of my DV Mark Cab to take with me on the Kemper. I will not miss this course
First, BIG thanks to you, Kohle, because I've learned a crazy amount about tracking, mixing, and the process of production from you, and it's helped me immensely. Second, Bogren's IRs are insanely good. I mix the Gates Of Hell and Bobby Swede IRs, and it's fucking MASSIVE, but loses absolutely zero clarity. Also - your own Rainbows and Chainsaws IRs from that Downtuned pack are super good as well - particularly for slightly broken-up cleans. \m/
For some reason (my ears and concept about sound) I tend to mix a reverb (room mic) or such "closed boot" IR with the Direct mic (cab IRs). The reason is such close space IR (mic) tames the harsh peaks of the cab IRs and makes the EQ edit (if needed) more easy and pleasant. Then, if the mix requires, all that can be send to a mid\large size reverb. The nature of IRs is that they accumulate some resonances (mids and lows), so really need some EQ considerations there.
Just bought rainbows and chainsaws and Jens Bogren Lead/Clean and the rhythm packs ow my %^* what a great addition and what a big change they can make on your guitar tones!! Very happy costumer Thanx!!!
I'm glad Jens tyalked about how he names the IRs. I use the IRs that he captured for "lower tunings", but I use them on everything, and the names are surprisingly intuitive! Somehow I get why he named them what he did even though the names are often insane bullshit! They were cheap as well, and I think they sound pretty great.
Hey, guys, I just bought the bass IR pack (Orange) from Kohle... what do I need? I have Studio One DAW and the Audient Soma interface... do I need a DI box and a re-amp box?
Question: the cabinets in this video are all 4x12. If I’m just recording at home, and I have limited space or volume should I still try and go all out for the 4x12’s or would a 2x12 or 1x12 work as well? Thank you!
Yes. I prefer 4x12s but I have done great sounding records with both 2 and 1x12”. So don’t worry! One cool thing about 4x12” is that you can load it with different speakers.
@@KohleAudioKult Unfortunately. The reason I ask is b/c I have a favorite IR that was recorded using one, and it's the thickest, fullest, and most sonically dense sounding IR I've found yet. And so I was wondering if that big warm sounding tone was characteristic of this mic when being used to record guitars with, or just something particular to this one IR?
Why do you guys always wear the beanie caps? Does this help with mixing? I know when I'm wearing one it definitely filters/modifies sounds, but I've never tried wearing one while listening to a mix.
@@KohleAudioKult the advantage is to capture the IR using dynamount type robot so you have the ability to move the mic (instead of relying on a single placement)
@@shaharbar Oh sorry! I was thinking about the Celestion thing. Both Jens and my approach for our packs at Bogren Digital has been to create production ready (and partly already processed) IRs which is quite a different idea than giving people the option to virtually move the mic themselves. Mainly because that's what people want.
Super cool! I like how he focuses on the mix, what works for the mix not on what equipment was used. That is so incredibly real to mixing guitar tones at least in my opinion. Use what works, not what the labels say works. Etc. I'll probably cave and buy that Ampknob 2060 pack I'm just overloaded with sims and tone craziness at the mo. Peace all :)

@@trumancarter1299 Great to hear that! Welcome!
@@louderthangod Of course! No better teacher than Jens when it comes to IRs.

Good idea!

The first IR I bought were all the bogren ones. Not disappointed. We will hear these in productions for years to come.
The Bogren IR's are insane. His DropDaSoap IR is going to be the cab sound for my band's upcoming album's rhythm tone
Bought the bogren IRs yesterday, can confirm they kick ass especially DropDaSoap

FINALLY! Warehouse Guitar Speakers getting some love! Veteran 30's in an X pattern with the ET65 is my personal favourite!

We all can agree that Jens' knowledge is insane, but... Not as insane as his phone background 🔥
a collaboration from the gods
How do you decide to use one or another IR for a composition? What is the logic behind that?
