I was thinking the tip for a decorating bag. Perfect spread for a small group. Drinking the milk for the eggs is what I would have done as well when it's just for the family...and your right about the bacon grease aka liquid gold, it should be in the fridge, or it can go rancid.
Hi Mandy, you can pour cooled bacon grease into a styrofoam egg carton then freeze until solid then pop them out and store in a zip top bag return to the freezer for later use. The cookie dough can be rolled into a rope then shaped into a wreath. 😊
I haven’t been able to watch your videos in a few months because Steven’s antics remind me of my dear sweet smartass husband. He passed away on August 21 due to cancer. He was the most amazing man and I miss him so much. This is the first time I have been able to watch and laugh with you guys instead of crying.
Yes, I'm watching this a year later but still love it! My mother would take leftover pie dough, roll it into a circle and put some jelly on it. Shed fold it in half and seal it with.fork. Bake it along side the pies for maybe 15 minutes. I can't remember. But that was the BEST treat to me! Brings back some wonderful memories!
When my kids were young and at home, Sunday nights instead of regular dinner we did four or five appetizers. Each week a different child got to pick two of the choices and I chose the rest. We loved not having to wait till an occasion for those treats and I got to try new things.
I keep my bacon grease in the fridge but my grandmother always just kept it in a can on the stove. She cooked everything in it, not because of the flavor, but because it cost her nothing.(She raised a family during the Depression.) She was known for being the best cook everyone knew.
Please keep my family in prayer, I lost a brother in October and yesterday I lost a nephew. It's been a hard couple of months. May God continue to bless you and your family!
Mandy, you guys should take your show on the road. You are hilarious 🤣. Love your back and forth banter so much. Your subscriber numbers should be doubling soon. I tell everyone they just have to subscribe to your channel. Keep ‘em coming!
It’s so much fun watching y’all. My husband never did anything in the kitchen, until I had a mild stroke a few years ago. It’s funny how territorial he is now.. some things he does even better than I ever did.
Bacon grease will not go bad as long as u keep in the freezer. I freeze my “ liquid gold” in muffin tins, dollar tree Reynolds wrap looking muffin tins, freeze then pop out and keep-in freezer bags in the freezer. I only put about 3 tablespoons in each muffin, that is usually enough for most recipes!
Ran over here so fast I tripped over my hubby's oxygen hose. Just kidding. Love my girl, Mandy and her recipes. Plus, her and Steven always make me laugh.
Mandy a shot glass works great for making a hole in your cookie or a soda bottle lid. Dip lightly in flour so it won't stick to the dough. Love how you laugh at your mistakes and show how you correct them.
Just watching you and your husband is a blessing in itself plus the humor your husband brings makes everything worth watching and let’s not forget the smiles and laughter. You are my favorite. Thank you 🙏🏻
Yeah, when making cookies . No matter if homemade or store bought, always refrigerate or you can freeze it to that works amazing, but wait at least 30 min to 2 hrs . And when needing to do a hole. Get a small cookie cutter or a small biscuit cutter .
I keep Bacon Grease on the counter. Raised with all the ladies in my family keeping Bacon Grease on the counter in a Mason Jar. Everything you made looks great. Thanks for sharing.
Mandy, I love watching you and Stephen. Your authenticity and candor are so refreshing. On your wreath cookies - if you have a large decorating tip, you could use the wide end of the tip to cut the centers. You could also use a bottle cap. Then pop them in the fridge for about a half and hour to keep them from spreading in the oven.
Hey Mandy! The pecan recipe is similar to one I make every year, with one special twist. Try adding just a smidgen (that's for you Stephen) of cayenne pepper to the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Yummy!
Truth bomb coming at you: I wouldn’t even bother making a hole in the cookies. Bake as normal for round cookies. Use a ziplock with a little hole cut in the tip to add green frosting in a wreath shape. Decorate with sprinkles, etc. If you have kids, you can do multiple frosting colors and make ornaments, snowman faces, etc, all out of round cookies. We try too hard to make things perfect when most of the time, they just need to be fun. Thanks for being wonderful! ❤
"What did you put cream cheese in?" What a hoot that Steven is! You should have kept him guessing. I would have! I was so surprised to have my comment about the stink bug episode read so eloquently by your better half! Thank you. Love your channel!
I keep my bacon grease in the fridge because “oil spoils”. It’s so wonderful in so many different foods❣️ Also, I’m anything but southern…. I live in the very tippy top of the lower peninsula of Michigan. However, I guess to my neighbors in the upper peninsula of Michigan, I am southern 😂😂😂😂. Anyway, bacon grease is gold ❤️
Gracie Lou "Now mama there should always be cheese available for ME no matter what ya doin in the kitchen" She's so precious. Thanks for the recipes Mandy❤❤
My husband has always said “Use the right tool for the job-it makes the job so much easier!” He’s right! A little bottle cap (for instance, off a vanilla extract bottle) would have made cutting the holes on the wreath cookies a lot easier. Some of my favorite tools-a steel spring whisk makes the smoothest, creamiest sauces and gravies (or icings); wooden spoons are best for cooking, and like you, I love my mix and chop from Pampered Chef!
I love watching your videos! When we make wreath cookies, we bake our cookies (I always take them out at 10 minutes exactly because I don’t like crispy cookies either). After they cool a couple minutes, I use a water/pop cap and cut the centers out, like a biscuit cutter. It’s much simpler for me. Y’all are the cutest and I love that y’all are real and so down to earth. ❤️
Mandy, if you have a Publix close by, they sell "My three sons" pimento cheese spread and the spicy white cheddar is out of this world good. The mini quiche would be good with a bag of real bacon bits mixed in with the eggs and skip the sausage.
I just love watching you & Steven in the kitchen together, ya'll are so cute! I take shortcuts using the sugar cookie dough as well but instead of making wreaths I just bake the cookies & decorate them as "ornaments"...I use different colored frosting & add sprinkles or draw different designs like zigzag lines, polka dots, etc by using the frosting that comes in a tube!! Much love from Texas!❤
On the stove. The container has a strainer on the top which makes the grease really clean. Pop corn in bacon grease WOW that really makes it great and you don't have to salt the popcorn.
Absolutely love your program not just for the recipes but for your camaraderie to love it. If you have leftover Jo like you did with your quiches roll it out sprinkle it with cinnamon sugar bacon a little bit what my mom used to do when we were kids when she made a pie, we had some crust with cinnamon sugar. Yum just for you, Stephen y’all have a great holiday.
So ready to try my double filling dark chocolate Milanos dipped in candy melt for holidays! Also, with leftover pie crust; roll it out and cut strips and then sweet - brush with butter and sprinkle cinnamon sugar (like a bit leftover from pecans), or savory -brush with garlic butter and sprinkle parmesan cheese. Then bake them at 350 for just a few minutes and tada - you've used up pie crust remnants and gotten some little bites of goodness!
@@daughterofthemosthigh1103 ooh yeah! That would really kick em up a notch. And maybe dip them in crushed candy canes. That would look pretty and taste amazing
Hey y’all! I’m from East TN and I don’t have a bacon grease jar 😮 BUT my mom does and she keeps it by the stove. Tell me more, besides green beans, what else do you use it for? My husband and I got married in 2000 as well! We joke that we did it so he could easily remember how long we’ve been married! Helps me remember too, after all these years! I love watching you and hearing sweet Gracie meow for her cheese. She’s precious!
Hi Lindsay! Anything you are making that could be enhanced by bacon flavor! It replaces olive oil a lot of times! And yes, lol I'm so glad we got married in 2000. Will make it easier when we are older to remember!
Make a bigger hole, and refrigerate them a while, or nearly freeze, then bake them at 375° so they bake faster and don't spread as bad! Love the silliness, shows Love and forgiveness! Good job!!
Couple of suggestions: sprinkle some powdered sugar on the board when rolling out refrigerated cookie dough. 2. My hubby adds a little bit of Sweet Baby Ray’s buffalo sauce to the meatballs. Gives a little something something in the back of your throat, lol😊 so good & he now is the one to make those meatballs. 3. Roll out the scrape pie dough. Spread with butter & top with cinnamon/sugar. Roll up & cut into slices. Bake @ 350 until golden brown. My mom called them pie kisses when we were kids! Luv y’all!!
I love seeing Gracie Lou and her cheese. I offered one of my former kittie’s and she turned her nose up at it. I made a mini Charcuterie Board for New Year’s and it was great.
I am team fridge for bacon grease. It can turn rancid so I am skeptical about the counter top. Turn over a piping tip or use the center cutter in a donut cutter to make those wreath cookies. By cutting the center instead of forming it with your fingers may seal it so it won’t close while baking. Watching you and Steven puts the biggest smile on my heart. If I ever make it to Pauline we need to go to lunch and visit.
I love, love, love watching U 2. Ur so much fun n living up all our tendencies to be dwn about certain things n our gov n all that's going on in the world! U 2 are such a happy blessing to us all!
We’re with you on the bacon grease. Keep it in the fridge and it lasts forever 🤣 We usually use it all w/in 2-4 months and have never had any problems with it.
I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and my mom always had a jar of bacon grease in the fridge. She even used it to pop popcorn with on the stove. Best movie nights ever!
I love watching you two working in the kitchen. Y’all remind me of me and my husband. We have been married 36 years. ❤️everything you make is so practical. I usually have all of the ingredients. No special trips to the store is a plus for me❤️. I have made several of the recipes you have shared and we loved them all. Keep sharing!
All these recipes looked so amazing. And yes I put my bacon grease in the refrigerator. I think it keeps it fresher. I just love when Steven is in the kitchen with you. I missedvGracie Lou begging for cheese while making the egg cups.
Miss Mandy I've been waiting for this! Thank you so much for all y'all do. I have a Mandy playlist I put on whenever I cook. You make an awesome cooking buddy!🎄❤️😆
Hi Mandy and Steve, I enjoy your UA-cam channel Mandy and the making that’s great. I look forward to watching you guys you just like my day. I laugh with you and I cried with you over the loss of Gracie, but just to let you know I love watching youand look forward to many more Anita in Berea, Kentucky
The wreath cookies - while still warm the cookies are more pliable so you could have used a butter knife or something in the middle and swirled it to make the whole bigger.
Mandy, This year has been full of ups and downs....a lot of downs. But a major up is your videos. Not only do I get some great easy recipes (something I NEED) but I also get joy from you and Steven.
Mandy, I always love your videos, but something about this one had even more joy than usual and it was so fun to watch. You and Steven are such a great team. Thanks for all of your content. Merry Christmas!
Left over piecrust my Mom would roll out the extra dough and put butter, cinnamon sugar and raisins. Roll up the finished dough n bake till golden brown. Yummy!!!
Oh my gosh you guys are so fun to watch. I feel the same way as you when it comes to baking. You guys work so well together I love it. Candy cane cheese board was a good idea. My 3 boys & husband would love all these recipes.
I’m having a charcuterie board party in a couple weeks with a bunch of girls and I like your board. I might copy it! Also, your meatballs with the cranberry sauce, have you ever done the little mini smokey hotdogs with barbecue sauce and pineapple chunks? What a great appetizer those are and I never have any leftover! Thanks for all the ideas. Your husband cracks me up! Lol
Mandy, to make your holes you should use a sewing thumb thimble. I use it to make biscuit, fried doughnuts and doughnut holes!! Fry them and roll them in sugar/cinnamon ixture. It would be perfect for your wreath cookies 💕🙏🙏
You guys just crack me up! I love watching you together. You remind me of me and my husband when we cook together. We've been together for 50 years! I say couples that cook together stay together!
My grandmother would take leftover pie crust, mold it altogether, and roll it out again. She would take the bottom of the shot glass and make some little circles, and then slice some of the crust into strips. She would take the strips wrap them around her finger and then place them on top of one of the circles, pinching them a little bit and creating a little cup. She would then bake them, and after they were baked, she would add a dollop of jam to each little cup. yum yum yum yum
Oh by the way my bacon grease is in the fridge. When I was a child in Arkansas we left it on the stove in a coffee can but there were 8 of us, so we used it a lot more than I do now!
My grandma would always roll out the extra pie crust, cut in strips, brush with an egg wash on top and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and bake till lite golden brown. She called them “Lady Fingers” fantastic for tea or coffee time.
You two are so sweet together! You can tell you not only live each other, but also like and enjoy being with each other! Tell Steven to do what my mom used to do with her leftover pie dough. She would roll it out and put it in a pie plate and sprinkle it with cinnamon sugar and bake it for me. It was always so special!
I'm late to this convo cuz I'm catching up on your videos. But I wanted to add that we put cupcake cups in a cupcake pan, fill half way with bacon grease, then freeze. When it's completely set, we pop the cups out, fold over excess paper and store in a gallon freezer bag. When I need one, I just break off a chunk or just unwrap and throw in the pan .. We lovingly refer to them as bacon pucks! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Leaving Steven alone with the cookies reminds me of that challenge going around where parents leave their kids alone for a few minutes and tell them they can't touch the food until they come back 😂
Roll out the extra pie crust dough, spread with butter, add cinnamon and sugar, roll up and slice into pinwheels. Bake till browned. My mom always made these when I was young, now I do it for my grandkids!
I didn’t wait until the end so about those mini quiches. I am known for my quiche. It is a great way to put pretty near anything in them. I usually make mine full size with cheddar cheese, ham, and broccoli. Different than you I usually par bake (5 min) the crust, be sure to poke holes all over. Then put some cheese in the bottom so the egg won’t make them soggy. Then add the ham and chopped broccoli. Mostly I use lunchmeat ham chopped up. But my biggest suggestion is when you are doing it make 2 batches and freeze the second batch. After freezing put them in a vacuum sealed bag and you have it when you need them later. Love n hugs
You should reshape the hole while the cookies are warm, it's much easier and they won't make as many crumbs. You can also melt your frosting and dip to get an even coating. If you run out of sprinkles, you can put some regular sugar in a bag, add a few drops of food colouring and massage around until all the sugar is one colour. Beautiful sanding sugar and super easy.
Mandy use a bottle cap or a cap on a water bottle to make the hole in the center of the cookie !
Honestly, that’s what I thought she was going to use in the first place. Live and learn
I was thinking the tip for a decorating bag. Perfect spread for a small group. Drinking the milk for the eggs is what I would have done as well when it's just for the family...and your right about the bacon grease aka liquid gold, it should be in the fridge, or it can go rancid.
And i would do it right after theyre baked and still warm
Or frosting piping tip bigger end
Room temperature
Food safety experts don't recommend storing bacon grease at room temperature because bacon particles can cause it to go rancid.
I'm from Michigan, and Mexican-American, my mom always kept bacon grease in the fridge she especially loved to use it to refry beans
Very tasty
I’m southern and my bacon grease is in a mason close by
My dad did too. He fried everything in bacon grease and they were so good.
You two make me laugh...love your yummy recipes..laughter is what makes a marriage work..😂😊
I love the humor Steven and Mandy share and how they tease each other. It's so fun to watch.
Hi Mandy, you can pour cooled bacon grease into a styrofoam egg carton then freeze until solid then pop them out and store in a zip top bag return to the freezer for later use.
The cookie dough can be rolled into a rope then shaped into a wreath. 😊

I'm so sorry for yours loss, I hope you have a wonderful merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 and a happy new years to 🎉🎉

How about a drop of peppermint extract in the Milano cookie dip?
I keep my bacon grease in the fridge but my grandmother always just kept it in a can on the stove. She cooked everything in it, not because of the flavor, but because it cost her nothing.(She raised a family during the Depression.) She was known for being the best cook everyone knew.
For your sugar cookie holes, maybe use an apple corer or a tiny biscuit cutter.
Please keep my family in prayer, I lost a brother in October and yesterday I lost a nephew. It's been a hard couple of months. May God continue to bless you and your family!
Julia, that is heartbreaking 🙏❤️❤️🙏 Prayers for you & your Family 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

You are so kind! Thank you so much for telling others about our channel. 😍
My Grandma was from Georgia and used to say light bub not bulb!! Lol. Love watching you two...just so fun and loving! Greetings from Buffalo NY!!!
Roll each cookie into a tube. Then connect the ends in a circle. Press down a little then bake❤
You two make such a sweet couple. Mandy is he really like that.... he's so funny. the way he makes you laugh.
It’s so much fun watching y’all. My husband never did anything in the kitchen, until I had a mild stroke a few years ago. It’s funny how territorial he is now.. some things he does even better than I ever did.
Spoon bacon grease into ice cube trays and freeze. When frozen put in ziplock bag and use as needed!
Love this!!
How long will the frozen grease cubes last? I don't use a lot of bacon grease so I end up having it a while. Not sure when it's bad 😆
I do my eggs the same way
Ran over here so fast I tripped over my hubby's oxygen hose. Just kidding. Love my girl, Mandy and her recipes. Plus, her and Steven always make me laugh.

Me too 😂

Refrigerate your cookies for 5-10 minutes before baking. The butter will reharden and the cookies will keep their shape better ♡
Thank you!!!!!!
This sounds like a really great idea!!!
Good tip… I didn’t know that👍🏻
Yeah, when making cookies . No matter if homemade or store bought, always refrigerate or you can freeze it to that works amazing, but wait at least 30 min to 2 hrs . And when needing to do a hole. Get a small cookie cutter or a small biscuit cutter .
As long as your bacon grease is clean, it can sit out on the counter. Just like lard.
I keep Bacon Grease on the counter. Raised with all the ladies in my family keeping Bacon Grease on the counter in a Mason Jar.
Everything you made looks great. Thanks for sharing.
If you refrigerate the cookie dough before baking, they'll keep their shape 😊

Love your channel!
The most fun part about your videos are that I feel like I’m at your house and we are all laughing and cooking. I bet that you throw great parties.
Gracie Lou Freebush is the cutest! I hope Santa 🎅🏻 fills her stocking with cheese, catnip and toys 🧸

Keeping cookie dough cold before baking keeps the cookies shape and thickness
My mother used to make cinnamon crackers with leftover pie crust.Roll crust out and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and bake.
Gracie Lou "Now mama there should always be cheese available for ME no matter what ya doin in the kitchen"
She's so precious. Thanks for the recipes Mandy❤❤
I agree! I would always have something for that beautiful and gentle Gracie Lou!❤❤❤
Roll the excess dough out and cut in strips and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and bake til crisp. Delicious.

I just 💗 getting my giggles here at Mandy in the making 😂😂😂
For the wreath cookies, if you have the pampered chef apple corer, it should work for the hole in the center. That, or a small round cookie cutter.
Love you two working together...Steven is so funny and love your laugh 😂 with a little snort 😆😄😆😝🙃🤣🙃
We northerners keep our bacon grease in a jar by the stove. It's great for fried potatoes, fried fish and fried eggs!
So do us Southerners.
And fried chicken 😊
You guys just crack me up! I love watching you together. You remind me of me and my husband when we cook together. We've been together for 50 years! I say couples that cook together stay together!
The left over dough can be cut in stripes and bake with cinnamon sugar.
Love knowing you and Jessica are friends since you live in SC. I watch and enjoy you both!
love the candy cane idea- will definitely use that one !!!!
I love Pimento cheese, definitely going to their website. I like to make appetizers for dinner sometimes, I love variety and so does Breana!❤
Oh by the way my bacon grease is in the fridge. When I was a child in Arkansas we left it on the stove in a coffee can but there were 8 of us, so we used it a lot more than I do now!
You two are so fun!! Great ideas
Oh snap!!! Cant believe i had to wait until 7:22 am to watch! Hope you are having a happy and peaceful week!
You could use your gravy ladle for pushing the pie dough into the mini muffin tin.
What about trying an apple corer for the holes in the wreath cookies?
I love how simple and good your recipes are usually its stuff we already have and don't have to go buy a lot if stuff
Leaving Steven alone with the cookies reminds me of that challenge going around where parents leave their kids alone for a few minutes and tell them they can't touch the food until they come back 😂
Does Southern California count. Mine is in the fridge. Happy Holidays ❤❤
Roll out the extra pie crust dough, spread with butter, add cinnamon and sugar, roll up and slice into pinwheels. Bake till browned. My mom always made these when I was young, now I do it for my grandkids!
For the sugar cookies. Once you cut them use a wreath cookie cutter and do not make them too thin.
Love n hugs
I've always heard that bacon grease should be kept in the refrigerator and can last up to 3 months
Steven and Mandy! You are the best. I love you both so much ❤❤ 🙏🌹
Use a small biscuit cutter for the inside of the cookies. That might work.
