@@NUTZONYALIPZwtf are you talking about? Mass school shootings take up less than 1% of all shootings during the year. If we really cared, we would do something about the deaths that comes from shootings in the cities, and we know they are not from European decent that's responsible for those .Deaths from gang violence, robberies, murders, etc done with guns take up the majority of deaths from guns and are from the cities; they are not Europeans.

Reminds me of a case in Idaho. People that lived over 2 miles away claimed they had a bullet come through their roof. After finally getting a change of venue, a knowledgeable judge asked to see the evidence. Turns out the "bullet" that supposedly went through their roof was an unfired .50BMG round! The judge fined the plaintiffs $2,500,000, $500,000 for each of the five litigants, about the value of their homes and said he didn't care if they had to sell their homes to pay the fine. He then gave the majority of the money to the range to make improvements!!!

Being a firearms instructor and a range officer and knowing the potential of the rounds leaving the property watching the haphazard way people are firing and the calibers of bullets going down range and the volume of people there … you have to back a little and do what is needed in keeping those rounds inside the range area and then everyone outside and inside will be safe. AND those tires only deflect rounds not only back at the shooting line area, but in all directions. Don’t ruin what you have and safety is the upmost importance. 🇺🇸

I live on 517 acres in middle TN. And I agree with you. When I created my range. I actually rented a bulldoze and had my friend who's (licensed) heavy equipment operator. create the lanes and 12-15 foot berms. The berm is one straight line about 75 yards long. Also, had side berms constructed (same height). Behind the berms I have rail ties stacked up and then old car tires behind that. The range is surrounded by very dense woods too.
As for new or inexperienced shooters. I only put one (1) round in the firearm. So if someone dropped a gun after firing, there would be no issue per se. As the new shooter gets more confident I then will add and extra round or maybe two more. Until I am satisfied with proper safety, handling and confidence. Then the shooter will get a full mag per se. Even if someone I don't know...i.e., good friend bring his nephew. States they're an experience shooter. The most prove it, but following my rules for a new shooter. I want people to enjoy their rights. And want more people introduced to firearm's But most be under the correct method. Last thing our community needs is a bad reputation due to safety.

This is a great way to bring people together around the 2A. You ABSOLUTELY need to have a morning meeting about safety! Also, you must have dedicated range safety officers with matching shirts so they are easily identified. One thing I saw was a firearm in the open and NOT on the firing line. This is a big no no. There are a LOT of people running around and without absolute control over the guns, accidents CAN happen. You also NEED to have a taller backstop if you are going to be shooting heavy weapons. I have hosted SEVERAL actual machine gun shoots and with proper planning and the right people taking it seriously, the only casualties were some cars, refrigerators etc. and a good time was had by all! And, YES! A .50 is an anti aircraft/anti material round! It WILL travel further than "30 acres". The range we had was in the center of 500 ACRES with a 40 foot tall stop. Be safe and get some!👍🏼

There is no way that the berm of tires are catching those rounds. The one LEO in the brown uniform stated that he could hear the rounds off his head. He should have heard a crack as they passed over. That is that sonic boom in a smaller form. I have listen to rounds going over my head and that is what you hear. In the 70’s the Army had a crack and thump range that soldiers had to go through. Louisiana has requirement for safe backstop distances for handguns--a line 45 degrees right and left of the centerline of the range extended for 1 1/2 miles connected through an arc must be a "small arms impact area" with restricted access. This distance for centerfire rifles is 5 miles. There are virtually NO ranges in the state which meet this requirement. I live 1000 feet from the firing line of a military reservation---which has a subdivision down range which falls within this arc.--so the range is not legal. Everyone is safer when the RSO (Range Safety Officers) have a gap to look down. Seems like a minor detail on the wrong side of the heat, but it can make a huge difference in the RSO's workload, making each one more effective.

Glad to see people exercising their 2A rights. Good time for family time. Unfortunately we have people moving here to VA from northern states, Northern VA and from DC area who are not use to gun fire and want a quiet peaceful place to retire. Well we like to shoot our guns. These people call dispatch all the time for shots fired. I live on the western side of the Virginia where it’s predominantly rural areas with a lot of woods. I hear on the police radio all the time about shots fired calls and it’s always in the county and not the towns. Sheriffs department goes out and checks back stop and its all good. If most people would just mind their own business life would be so much better.

Best case scenario If the parcel of land was exactly 1 acre wide by 30 acres deep that would only be 1901 meters deep. The firing line appears to be 100-200 meters deep into the property. A Canadian sniper has a confirmed kill at 3540 meters with a .50 bmg. Your berm is not much higher than 6’ and thin at the top. When firing from the hip with the .50 and .308 most likely they were shooting way over the top of the berm which means the .50 is proven lethal to over 2x the maximum possible depth of your range. I know people who shoot 22lr out to 1000 meters and have personally impacted targets out to 1500 yards with a .308 and impacted targets at a mile with my 300wm, and 6.5cm. From the looks of things your property appears to be several acres wide which means it’s probably 10 acres or less deep which means you have less than 633 meters minus the 100-200 meters because the firing line is not at the outside edge of the property. Which means even an itty bitty .22lr fired over the berm can travel over 2x the length of your range. Your neighbors are not in the wrong. What you are doing is un safe and they have a right to be pissed off!
