Wow I think you beat ETA Prime to publishing, impressive ;) Honestly I wish they offered a more balanced version for cheaper. The 7945HX is beyond overkill for the 7600M XT.
agreed, need a cheaper cut down version with the 7840 or 7535
Agreed . An Nvidia GPU 4070 or 80. But if the GPU was upgradeable that would be best. I feel like the last few Gen of CPUs(maybe even 11th gen for Intel) are overpowered for the next few year
It will help cpu not throttling..No Bottleneck Gpu 99% Cpu 30-40% while gaming..
..or you could see it as the current best solution for someone who travels a lot and wants a really respectable mini pc on the go while having a basically high end gaming system if connected to an egpu. the pcie 5.0 slot is a game changer, it should equal to pci-e 3.0 x16 slot bandwidth whise and it should give around 97% of the performance compared to a normal pci-e 4.0 x16 slot. a 7745hx would definetly be enough for someone that doesn't want to expand the system further but i can't see how lower they could go with the price even if they wanted to.
@@ominousview good luck finding a replaceable gpu in this pc format size. they are soldered.
Always quality content. Cheers from Greece

Kalimera !!! A poupou esai? Souvlaki baklava santorini bizya mikonos ! I think...
Thanks for the video, very tempting to get this as my new mini PC.
I would wait and see where their Intel/Nvidia mini comes out. The 7600m xt isn't that good and am disappointed they went with it
@@ominousview nvidia drivers are in a very bad shape
@@ominousview Indeed there is always something better coming but the problem is when. The Mini PC Market seem always 1 or 2 years behind the Desktop and right now in Australia this machine with 64GB ram and 1TB SSD will set you back for $2000+ AUD and won't be shipped until 30th of August with that cost and waiting time, I might as well to go with Mini ITX Build and full desktop GPU.
These HX CPUs are basically slightly lower clocked, probably binned desktop chips for the notebook section. The larger cache helps in gaming a lot!
They are not binned. They are more likely chosen first cause they are more power efficient. At least this is how it works with laptop GPUs when you remove their thermal limitations.
I have been super intrigued by this! I missed out on their deal but noticed all of the info for this device
Buying this next year
Why doesn't anyone make a proper high-end mini PC with up to a 4090? If thin laptops can cool it, these chunky PCs surely won't break a sweat.
Thanks Chris. Been away a long while, life etc.. Brilliant review as always. I try to wait for your reviews before I buy anything you might get in front of you. All my tablets and those I get/recommend for family and friends come after your discerning reviews.
Question - do you HAVE to use this in a vertical orientation? I'd love to have it horizontal, desk setup wise.
Does it have switchable graphics? Because then you can let regular apps use the internal gpu instead of the discrete one. I'd keep it enabled to save some power. Thanks for the review, i'm interested.
Amazing!
At the moment, the prices for this (in my country) is really good when you compare this to what I believe is one of the products its replacing. I own the NUCXi7 by Minisforum, a fantastic PC still that I use for 1080p gaming that still performs way above my expectations (can happily run Forza Horizon 5 at 4K 60 on high) so this as a replacement for people who missed out on the NUCXi7 is rather nice.
Yeah I'm comparing AMD to Nvidia but from my understanding, the RX 6700 XT is about 18% faster than the RTX 3070 Mobile and for what I paid for the NUCXi7 you can get this G7 Pt for the same price. Only downside is its not really a replacement if you already own the NUCXi7.
Basically you're getting roughly the performance of the NUCXi7 but in a smaller form factor, since the 7600M XT (not to be confused with the more powerful 6700 XT) seems to be roughly equal to the RTX 3070 Mobile, but I remember Minisforum was selling the NUCXi7 at discount (before it sold out or they discontinued it) for a lot less than what they're launching the Atom G7 at.
@@bluetech2809 My mistake then if you are right, you probably are. I will argue though that this not smaller per say. To me width is more important than depth so I wouldn't be able to slot in the G7 in the same place my NUCXi7 sits but I have more of a chance of being able to slot the NUCXi7 in the same place the G7 used to sit. Right now where my NUCXi7 is, I can't fit anything else in that same place because that new "mini PC" would be "fatter"
@@TBMartin Yeah I'd have to see both products in person or revisit the exact dimensions, maybe in total volume terms they are the same. I would actually prefer the NUCXi7 because it's thinner, you could sort of put it into a (ventilated) holder on the underside of your desk and have it out of sight, whereas the G7 would "stick out" because of its fatness as you said.
@@bluetech2809 Look out for Minisforum's update to the NUCXi series that should be out by the end of the year. An updated design that shares a similar footprint with an updated RTX 4060/4070 mobile GPU
I watch every video waiting for the word "PREformance". Never lets me down ;)
can't wait until mine is shipped.
This could be a 2K(1440P) gaming Mini PC, but it's looks amazing 😍
Hello, may I ask you to confirm how to CPU behaves when pegged at 100% for few hours like doing some android ROM compiling tasks.. does it overheat or throttle?
No it’s fine no issues the cooling handles it but you heard the fan.
@@Techtablets thank you so much!! I was also interested to know the dimensions of the computer.. I think it is not mentioned anywhere but can you provide?
@TechTablets Thank you for trying linux. I use only linux on all my computers. What model of network card is present? I use MediaTek cards exclusively.
I love mini PCs!!!
apperantly is not cheap but very good spec especially AMD HX processor
i agreed with you no USB4 and eGPU like oculink is a cons
I don't know why this wouldn't support USB 4 since the GPD Win Max 2023 I'm using right now supports it and occulink. That's a weaker chip set. This could be one of those things where it has USB 4, like those Asrock mini PCs would always do, but for whatever reason they have to turn it off, until an OTA update.
Many thanks. I appreciate the detailed teardown. I wonder if it will work with 96G RAM?
It sure it would. Might be 64GB I think max with this chipset.
@@Techtablets thank you
Great review, this mini pc is for want a mini pc and pay his price.
?
This thing could replace my 5950x-based proxmox homeland. Effing crazy
Easily!
there's a "new brand" called minimaker which is trying to bring a mini pc (turbo mini x) which has a proprietary port for an external gpu case that they'll also sell (streamplay x) which is apparently as close to a normal internal gpu connection you're going to get in terms of speed/performance (better than thunderbolt and oculink). b760 chipset that supports new generations 65w processors too. you do have to get the components yourself (processor, ram, storage), but the pc and gpu case seem to be pretty cheap from what I've read, so that shouldn't be a big issue... might wait for that one, considering an external gpu case actually allows for gpu upgrades down the line if/when needed, and if you look for it you'll see that it actually looks pretty neat imo! just got confirmation from them, today, that they're in talks with european suppliers to try and sort that out 😉
Should be very good by the sounds of it. Thanks for the comment I’ll check it out.
Just looked at the price $1k USD or $1400 AUD, I can build a Mini-ITX system from PCCG or PLE for way less ($1K AUD) that would compete or perform better, and can be upgraded, and is not that much bigger, and the power supply is internal, not seeing the value here at all.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Replacing that power supply down the line will be a nightmare, would have been better if they used a more common plug and put it at the back instead, I've never even seen a right angle 4 pin like this one, seen plenty of straight ones, its a shame, the rest of the system is great and would make an excellent Open Source Gaming Console.
Thanks for your video.
I have some questions:
1- Is the fan too loud for video editing?
2- I don't do gaming, but I do video editing and coding. Is this mini PC suitable for video editing and screen recording?
3- Is this 5200 DDR5 speed enough for keeping this mini PC for 5 years? I wish we had at least 6000 DDR5 ram.
Thanks
No when video editing it's only a little loud when exporting.
5200Mhz is fine I think, I wish it was 5600mhz.
I'm drooling.😂
is this better than the rog nuc?
Bit of a beast.
What's the hashrate rate for Scala mining?
Nobody mining on a mini PC especially these reviewers especially something as obscure as that
those CPU temps look very high and close to max for me... kind of worrying for long term longevity, don't you think?
These temps are absolutely normal for small form factor powerstations.
I really like your reviews, yes no usb 4 a d no Oculink is a turn off for me i wish we could have take advantage of that pcie 5 with an egpu
I was expecting much better scores from all the benchmark, the GEM 12 8845HS scores 13500 in Geekbench multi-core and Time Spy CPU score was 10500,
Come om Minisforum this Kingstone SSD is bad, i,ve seen that the GEM 12 is sold with Crucial RAM and SSD, with twice faster SSD i am also surprise that the HX100G Time spy score ain t that far from the G7 PT.
But the price is very goodl i would definitely buy it once they add USB 4 port and a better GPU, i would like to connect an egpu PCIE 5 to it
I don't know if it was intended but fsr is on on Cyberpunk. Just a reminder
Thanks just got the email saying it’s announced! Not sure between this and a 4090 laptop
Def go for a 4090 laptop. Yes its a laptop but the components inside this G7 Pt are also laptop parts so the laptop is more powerful.
@@TBMartin I know - but the 4090 in the laptops aren’t as powerful as the desktop. And I assumed G7 Pt has better cooling. Plus it’s around 1,000 cheaper! So it’s a difficult decision
@@danieIlondon This G7 Pt is also not as powerful as a desktop sadly. It will have better cooling than a laptop but a good laptop will also have good cooling (but not as good as the G7). If you want to play AAA titles at 4K 60 with the highest settings, get the laptop. If you want to play AAA tiitles at 1080p/1440p with the highest settings with higher frames than 60 while saving money, get the G7. Obviously the lower the settings, the higher the framerate so if this is for competitive gaming with high frame rates, get the G7. You want looks and you play for looks, play for enjoyment and the better the things look the better, space is no object and the 4090 laptop costs around £3000, get an AMD 7800X3D + RTX 4080 Super desktop for £200 less.
@@TBMartin Yeah this is laptop components cramped into a box. If you have a decent laptop already or planning on getting a device as laptop is a more portable AIO option.
@@jffrycldrn Ture BUT if you are planning on getting a RTX 4090 laptop for gaming and end up only using it in one place because weight and size becomes an issue when moving it from place to place, get a RTX 4080 Super desktop instead. More powerful and more AIO options but yes, way less portable.
Very disappointing that this doesn't have Oculink; I would have preferred to see only 1 NVMe worth maybe a SATA port of it meant that they could piece together enough PCIe lanes for an Oculink port. Anything with a CPU that powerful needs to have an Oculunk port...
How much?
Круть)))
This is anything but a Mini PC, It is small but never mini.
Definitely very powerful but at the price, it needs to be.
As an all round PC, if the budget allows then it might be attractive to a few.
I have similar specs but on a laptop.
Alienware 7845HX (12 core) / 7600M XT and it just blows any game at 1080P and rendering.
it an amazing design but the cpu is over the top it just need the ryzen 7 or 5 . the gpu is more important
I wonder how well the FFXIV benchmark runs on that..
The heat gonna be a problem when u played intense games.
Not that I have money, but apparently it is not available from the EU site.
It looks good to me and if I had money I would probably get it.
Not sure what the PCIE lane situation is with NVME 5 and 4 and the dGPU, but I guess I will never find out lol.
@@TrusteftTech available in UK - I forgot we are outside EU :))
@@danieIlondon That thing alone is probably worth brexit. /s :p
Thanks for the video. Nice breakdown of the device and benchmarking. Would be great if the GPU was upgradeable. Any timeline as to when the Intel/Nvidia atom man is coming out.
This CPU would pair well with a 4070 or 4080 (but let's face it 4070s are easier to get for PC makers right now).
Also for Fallout games it's locked at 60fps. There are mods to unlock it but since it's tied to game physics I wouldn't mess with it, unless you're playing FO 76
PUBG very low 1080p will give you massive FPS of this mini device
Yes great for that and nay game at 1080p
@@Techtablets I hope there's a test sir for PUBG benchmark in this mini pc
for 1000 bucks it better have everything a regular desktop has. I can get a super gaming pc for close to this price with a rex 3070 ijs..Rsbry pie is where it is
StrixHalo will own this in 2025 with only 55w tdp
I think this is too unbalanced. Its too expensive for most of the the target audiance. Too much CPU performance for slow GPU.
The paper sticker on Kingston ssd's does not allow any heat transfer from heatpads. I dont get why tech tubers have not found this out but that pathetic sticker needs to be pulled off. Kingston USE SOMETHING ELSE other than PAPER with a sticky back. It's shit!
Should be like Sabrent using a copper label
those laptop turbines makes lots of noise, imo its not worth the money
better choice is to get some decemt gm2tec mini pc and egpu
Price: € 1.139,00 EUR .... So for a more compact system you get:
* Worst cooling then a bigger system (no offense but those fans are a downgrade to the old system)
* Only a 7600 ...
I mean, buy a 5700X3D, a cheap AM4 board and a 6800 and it will run circles around this, with easily 400 a 500 Euro cheaper price tag.
Even Minisforum HX99G is a better deal at 700 euro... and that is overpriced because the HX80/HX70 used to be better prices (but pulled from sale)
Of course you can build cheaper and more powerful machines.
kinda cheap to wish i had there in europe
thanks again for showing all settings of bios.
but there there a gpu so no need for usb 4 or oculink
Still it would be a nice option to have oculink I think and USB4 for faster transfers.
@@Techtablets maybe for some. but for me i would choose a mini PC with a GPU instead of cable mess of mini PC with eGPU setup.
$1200!?????
Yes not cheap!
Cyberpunk results kind of cheating, the AMD FSR was turned on if you look back at the result.
Really don;t know what is the target for these high-performance/gaming mini PCs.
If you want performance, desktops and laptops deliver a far better experience.
If you want compactness, most need it for low effort stuff; So they will settle with something less gamy.
To have a need for both performance, and compactness .. means you really don't care about the value/price. This sector of the market is sooooo small.
No comparative benchmark graphs? No thanks
Looks like a football
A little yea.
bought a 4070 laptop for less
big external PSU? no thx
Yes it is huge! But it’s a powerful system I don’t think there is anything they could have done as an internal PSU would have made it as big as a PlayStation or Xbox.
thanks for the great review......such a shame the sml amount of ports are rubbish.......1200 us no occulink or usb 4 for an egpu = garbage unfortnately
Do you need OCuLINK when this has a GPU that's capable of running Forza Horizon 5 at 4K 60? Just one example of why its not needed, especially when USB 5 is around the corner/already kind of here and will make OCuLINK look old and slow by the time you want to use an eGPU instead of updating the whole system. Plus costs will be the same for both options.
@TBMartin For this price, yes, Oculink should be included, given the strong CPU and relatively weak GPU. Why would someone buy this then upgrade again just for USB 5 shortly after, that's crazy. Wait for Thunderbolt 5, or expect current devices like this to have Oculink.
@@drewnewby No, it shouldn't be included. It's primary purpose is servers, not eGPU's and you have fallen into the trap of thinking you need something because someone else is supplying it. You buy/have an external eGPU enclosure for this? Why when the GPU is more than capable of 1440p gaming, you are going to need to upgrade that enclosure down the line to be in line with the latest technical offerings anyway. By the time you need to look at an external eGPU for this because the GPU isn't cutting it anymore, it's too late. Buy a portable eGPU and you just limit yourself to that connection and that generation of laptop GPU.
@TBMartin You're clearly not in industry, I'll assume an SFF'er. Oculink is not primarily for servers. It was developed by PCI-SIG themselves as a lower cost open-source solution to Thunderbolt. The 7600M XT is not a 1440p part, regardless of your wishful thinking. No one mentioned a portable eGPU with mobile chip. Maybe you think those from GPD are all that exists? Oculink is for connecting a much more powerful desktop GPU of any generation via a dock. If you want to wait for USB5 to replace your older Minisforum device that's fine. Current devices at this price point should include Oculink to extend their use regardless of your personal interest to wait.
@@drewnewby We could argue about this until the cows come home, I've had my say and I don't feel I need to add more because I'm not looking to argue. Two likes for your comment in 16 minutes is highly suspicious. Don't know what to think about that to be honest, so if you just liked your own comment to make yourself look like you are in the right then it's a losing battle that I don't think is fair
Thought 8gb vram is out the window these days
why would you pair this highend CPU with such a shitty GPU ?
So Minisforum can charge $1200 on parts that are on the way out. It's a bad buy for sure.
No USB-4 👎
Better ryzen 7 with 7700 xt than this.. this is just horrible.
7700 XT would have been perfect
@@Techtablets thank you for a response!
