Very informative review. Instead of complaining about temperature you explain how to manage it and tweak performance to needs. Picked up m15 r5 model with RTX3070, Ryzen 7 5800H, 16Gb, 512gb SSD and 1440p 240hz screen for £1439.

I figured out another way to lower your temperatures on the m15 ryzen. I have the 5700h edition but it was idling around 70C. In the registry you can enable min and max processor state for power management. After enabling this I set my min processor state on battery and plugged in to 5% and maximum processor state plugged in to 95% and on battery to 65%. My idle temps while browsing the web/youtube/apps are around 50-60C now.
yeah but with this you are limiting boost on your laptop, which means lower performance than optimal performance. I know it because Im using it too, and only using High Performance mode (no power limit) for specific tasks
I found same solution. Minimum processor power was set to 100%. Lowered it to 5% which fixed high idle temps. Setting max power to 99% fixed high temps while playing not too powerful games. (Yes it went 10-20fps down from 120-130) but keeps it under +85C
Thank you SO MUCH for this video!! I just got a Dell G15 5515 (Ryzen 5800h+3060) laptop, and I love the performance, just wanted it to run a little bit cooler. What would you say in regards to the acceptable "established knowledge" on the maximum CPU temperature? Is 100 deg C runs too hot for longetivity? (I know nothing about computers but it does sound super hot if it were to run continuously). What about the performance if we set TCC to 15 i.e. maxed the temperature limit to 85 deg C? My laptop is on its way and will literally arrive within the next couple of days, so I wanted to set it up to the "best optimum operating conditions" possible whilst also sustaining its life (as shown in your data when undervolted to 90 deg C max, not huge FPS drop that I care. Thanks for your review and this video!
CPUs are designed to withstand 100C, so it’s not an issue on the chip for the most part, especially with how Alienware set the CPU configuration. However, in a laptop, many different parts and chips are compressed and in close vicinity to another. The issue with such a high operating temperature is that the heat will inadvertently heat up other components which cannot withstand such high heat for long periods of time. Various things like RAM and SSD, speeds are affected when temperature is too high. Thus it’s always better to have a CPU that runs way below 100C and at least 90C to provide longevity to the entire system as a whole, not just the CPU itself. TCC to 15 is fine if you’re just gaming. You’ll only see performance decrease in specific CPU related tasks. But apart from that, all should be fine.

Should i buy m15r6 or wait for legion 5 pro stock? Is this laptop good? Im a noob in tech. Please someone help. I can go upto 2k usd plus 100 usd if needed.
If you want best bang for your buck, wait for the Legion. If not, this is great as well.
Hi bro, i have been following your channel and videos. Can you help me out, I wanna get a gaming laptop with a budget of less than 2k sgd. Which one is good for me that can last for school, gaming and daily usage? Legion 5 is too expensive for me.
Look for laptops with an RTX 3050 Ti, that should be well within your budget.
What do u use to check ur cpu temperature?
HWMonitor, CPU-Z and MSI Afterburner
Whats your recommendation .. x15 or m15r6 ?
X15 if you can afford it. M15R6 for value… relatively, that is.
@@Terafied i read few reviews said that x15 ia not good for its price and has heat issues .. is that true ?
Hey, can I upgrade the graphics card on this one? And where can I find a higher gb, stock is 4gb.
Take a look at the latest from Alienware, it's been awhile!
@@Terafied Got it for a thousand, I couldn't really find anything nice and modern at that price point. Any recommendations? Maybe a new video idea here
With this bios update is ryzen controller still necessary?
Hmmm not really.
anyone has problem with low watt and low gpu clock? when playing battlefield V, suddenly it stuttering and i open up the nvidia performance overlay and the power drawn only 33-45 watt and the gpu clock under 500. is there anything i can do?
Would the Alienware M15 with Ryzen 5800h+3060 have the TCC Offset?
It should.
7 HOURS BATTERY LFIE??? SO HAPPY I BOUGHT THIS YOOOOOOOOOOOO
Use it sparingly, and it’s with Optimus on, and RGB off, you can get about that much.
The m15 r4 has a 140W gpu vs 125W on this one. Will this affect performance drastically if if I play in higher resolutions ?
We really can’t say for sure, since the CPU is vastly different. All in all though, you should achieve similar performance.
I would say R5 is better because the CPU on R4 is just trash, i7-10870H can't perform better than Ryzen 7 5800H, not even mentioning Ryzen 9
@@AgentFitz-y3u indeed
@@AgentFitz-y3u well i disagree with you m17r4 has much better Temperature so you dont need to limit your cpu and you do get better performance a laptop isnt about cpu i have m15 r5 and i am so angry with my self why i didn't bought m4. All in all they must up with Temperature it was first amd Alienware i guess it didn't worked other companies with ryzen 9 have much better performance but anyway we cant do something now
@@Lucky-x4n Yes you are right R4 has better thermal performance but still doesn't change the fact that 10th Intel mobile CPU sucks. Compared with Ryzen series it's just weak, not mentioning Ryzen series have better performance on low power wattage. So I guess R5 still wins
What is the expected batterylife for browsing
5-6 hours should be manageable.
I wanted to upgrade the RAM from 8GB to 32GB but im not sure what to buy for it.
DDR4 3200MHz.
Do these changes void warranty ???
No it won’t, don’t worry.
What about this laptop with rayzen 5 rtx 3060 model is it good
It’s going to be decent. Just know that you are paying more for the Alienware aesthetic for the same performance as compared to others.
Is the r4 the old version of the r5 ?
Erm. Yeah?
This is on sale today at bestbuy for $1400 from $ 2000 is this a deal?
Doesn’t sound bad at all but do check the latest offerings as well!
Is this laptop for warzone if I don’t change any settings?
You sure can. As long as you’re fine with high temperatures!
Can you under-volt the Ryzen CPU?
Using the TCC Offset does that for you.
Do you think this will get me 5 years of life? Going to use it for college and gaming here and there
Might be a stretch for 5 years. But might be possible if you really take care of it.
Hi. I need some help please if anyone could kindly spare a minute.
How do you make the laptop charger keep delivering power when your battery is at 100%?
When this laptop is fully charged, the charger stops delivering power and your GPU goes to s*** 450mhz and you can't play anything.
Any help would be massively appreciated 🌟
did you fix it brother?
Does Ryzen controller do the same thing?
It depends for Ryzen Master may or may not work.
@@Terafied ok ill try your way, thanks!
@@Terafied what is the best way to hook 2 monitors up to the R5? Thanks!
Could I do this with my R9 desktop?
We haven't had the chance to take a look at one but we don't think so. If you would like to lower temperatures without affecting performance all too much however, you can simply set the maximum performance limit for the CPU within power options to 99%. That'll prevent it from boosting past the base clock and thus, help with temperatures.
@@Terafied thank you
how do i get into the bios screen?
Check the button required to be pressed for the laptop model you have.
Do a HP Victus review please.
We’ll try and see if we can get our hands on one!
That would be great. The whole Indian community is waiting for a proper review of the HP Victus. Please, try to do it ASAP.
Awesome stuff!
finally an asian review with actual details and data rather than those wext reviewers only showing their face and playing the games without actual data. good one. proud for this channel
@Astrid Kelly so u can imagine now
@Astrid Kelly he liked the comment too
@Astrid Kelly I meant that the creator is also racist
@@iihamed711 dun drag the creator in , u joker. This is call the understanding statement as he is the only video creator mention about this feature in alienware laptop to reduce the laptop temperature heat eventho it impact the performance. Go and do more survery on this laptop and u can find mostly westerners are complaining the heat and did not show the way to reduce the temp.
Mayb u cant even afford an alienware laptop so dun mind me then.
@Astrid Kelly and how does my comment impact u ? U gonna show love to him ? Then subs and like his channel. Share it in your social media too. If you are so region lover.
I never knew this 0:53 and now my processor is fried and my laptop won’t turn on.
Love the video
Actually the 240hz QHD and 360hz FHD has windows hello
That is why we did mention on our variant.
@@Terafied sorry I missed it 😅 also does the display creak when opening ?
Not much that we’ve noticed. Shouldn’t be an issue.
I got this laptop for $1587.00 USD with codes from honey. As far as price, no coupons put it at $2,031 which looking at everyone else's offers, is no more expensive. Don't know where the Alienware tax everyone talks about comes from.
r5 vs r6 vs r4?
Can’t say much, since we didn’t really test the previous versions. But the latest as much as possible of course.
Subbed
In ur case, the problem can be simply solved by getting a 5800h..
But we don’t wannaaaaaa
@@Terafied yeah but everyone whos watching the video should

Hwinfo64 is much better
Battery is not good
For sure. Gaming laptop batteries still ain’t great.
