Thanks, this is simple and fast. My new knot to connect braid to leader.
I have to admit I thought another miracle claims knot but after seeing how it works I believe this knot will hold really high stresses which I will check with a scale. Thx.😊
I have been tying that knot without the 3 loops at the end on my fly lines for decades, I will now use this on my spinning gear, thank you.
You are the man! Just added this to my arsenal along with the uni and loop knot I think I’m good 👍
Never had a problem with the fg inshore or offshore and has been the smoothest knot going through the guides in my experience. That being said, the modified Albright is my #2 and I will occasionally tie it on the boat in certain situations.
Great video
At one time that knot is all I used. Not sure why I switched but it really is a great knot. I believe it is time to go back to it. Thanks for the reminder.
Thanks CA. I will give this one a try. I’ve stuck it out with the uni to uni knot but some of my newer rods with the micro guides could really benefit from this slimmer knot.
Beautiful.! Tight Lines and Full Limits To Ya. 🎣
I have never heard of the modified Albright knot until a few days ago when you said something about it in a video
Had to do some chemo about 3 years ago and I would have to re watch a knot video 10 times before I got it but this one is so much easier that I picked it up way faster and has stuck with me. Before I learned this one i was a surgeon knot guy lol
Appreciate the support and glad you are on the way back!
Awesome knot the modified albrigh.
I can see how that would work. Absolutely. Thanks.
I'll try that out, now that I'm throwing more braid, thanks 👍🏼
Something about teaching an old dog new tricks…headed out to the garage to practice tying!
Game changer!
Hands down the best knot going. I use this knot every day and have never had a failure with this knot and I’ll finish it off with 2 over hand knots for extra security
I watched this video yesterday and today I tied this knot while on the water in my kayak. Much easier to tie on the water than the double uni. I plan to make this my go to knot. Thanks for sharing.
is double uni knot good? im going fishing for stripers and stuff like that dont wanna lose fish
@@lucas-dt5kz Lucas you posted this question to me instead of C.A., but yes the double uni knot is an excellent knot for tying two lines together. I use it all the time.
I use the IGFA line to leader knot. They tested it and said it’s the strongest knot. It easier to tie than the one you described.
IGFA line to leader knot? Which one?
I use the FG Knot with rizutto finish, this modified albright is my 2nd knot
I've always tied surgeon's knots but they are bulky knots. I tried this one and was proud to show my son, only for him to launch his paddle tail 100 feet after the Albright pulled on the third cast. I even did the 3 wraps at the end so not sure what went wrong.
Thank you for sharing this, you made it very clear to see.
Trying this knot next. I have new 30 lb braid and 20 lb fluor that slips terribly with my FG. The braid will not dig in. Using this on a baitcaster for trolling. Also trying a blood knot and uni. Yucatán also slips. Almost like they left mold grease on the line.
Really nice videos, thank you! What is that board that you are using? I use my sup and I am out of room!
CA I noticed you tie this knot different than you did a year ago. I like this knot better because it is easier and stronger. Most wrap it a few times up and back without locking it down with the three twist on the end. Just the one twist for a lock. I think your way makes a stronger and smaller knot for the guides.
Thanks Captain. Was out yesterday and the wind was being less than cooperative when I found myself needing to rig a new leader. After I struggled trying to tie my FG for the second time, I remembered this video and decided to give it a try. So I wanted to say thanks for this tip as it definitely saved me some frustration not to mention the possibility of a lost fish due to a improperly tied knot.
Had issues with FG switched to surgeon 6 but thanks I will give it a try.
I've had the FG knot slip on me in the past, so I switched to the modified Albright after seeing a video that you did of it some time back... never had another slippage problem since
👍🏼
Take a look at the FG Knot with rizutto finish its all I use, this modified albright is my second knot I use
Been using this knot for years found it to be the strongest fastest knot to tie if my line snaps it’s never at the knot it’s in weaker part of the line from fray
That knot is easier then the FG knot!
I use the double uni knot since it’s so easy to use on lines of different diameter. Plus it goes through the guides pretty well and I’ve yet to have it break.
Huge proponent of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" but there's plenty of tests showing modified Albright having lower breaking point than the fg. Fg is also quicker to tie once you learn how to. If you tie the fg knot correctly it will not slip before it breaks. Lastly, it is the most streamlined connecting knot and thinner than the Albright. Fg can be scary at first but once you learn how to it's a no brainer!
I always tie a crazy Alberto at home and lock it in with an arbor and overhand. May seem overkill, but it's sleek and never fails. Also would you recommend V2 over Maxcuatro in 20lb on a baitcaster? Is the V2 visibility better to have rather than the extra thin diameter?
I try not to bring the knot into the guides when I cast. Have I been casting wrong all these years? My casts do have a high arc to them.
Nice video and Merry Xmas and Happy New Year. Do you think this would stand up to heavy surf casting with 30lb braid and 5oz weights?
I prefer the blood knot because i can tie it effectively and correctly every time...its a bigger knot but it's never let me down. I do need a smaller knot so ill be trying this. FG knot is a wash, i just cant do it.
I'm sure it's great. But, not only do I refuse to use spinners, I also refuse to use anything but mono. Will it cinch up slimmer than a surgeon's knot, 12# to 20# leader?
Yea
I always use swivels because no matter what I throw my line gets twisted while using braid to leader knots. Is there something im doing wrong or should I try again
It would sound to me that you have a terminal knot issue or rigging issue on the lure.
What type of lures is this occurring on? Swivels will adversely effect your lure presentation. I have never used a swivel on any line to leader connection for artificial. A swivel at the lure for certain spoons can be needed.
@@Snookchaser007 I was having trouble because I was using lures that were cheap and messed up so they didn’t have the right action. I have fixed the problem by getting higher quality baits that don’t have molding issues
Are you using a spinning reel?
CA, can you make a recommendation for a spinning reel? I’m considering a Shimano Stratic FL 3000 or a Shimano 3000 vanford. I think xg is the way to go on either model.
Stradic is a work horse
i like double uni it's simple the trick for a small knot 8 turns on the braid and 4 on the mono and use nail clippers to get tight to the tag end nice and smooth keep the knot out of the guides
I use the modified Albright easier to tie than FG..
Great video as always captain, I will say that if I make a mistake tying an FG knot in the field when there are 20 knot winds it would be at least my 2nd mistake of the day. The first being leaving the dock in 20 knot winds #SpoiledFloridaGulfLiving
Well, if the Albright slips on coated lines, enrease the raps to minimum 12. It won't slip again. I personally put 15 raps on and don't go under 12 on coated of fused lines.
What falcon rod do you recommend for just redfish
7’4” medium
Man that is SO EZ.. I have used an FG knot but issues going thru the guides and this is SO much faster and SMALLER.. see you on the water, I am in Homosassa.
Light braid , I double my braid before tying any knot.
That’s a whole lot easier than the FG
Fg knot is easy to tie the salt strong way.
How about the yucatan knot ?
