I recommend using minecart contraption to make automatic tunnel bore. Machine placing rails in front of it and picking them up behind it using a plow, powered by furnace minecart.
quick note this can also be done with powered rails and redstone blocks, given a bit of ingenuity to make sure the inventory is handled correctly. on another note, automatic tunnel bores are significantly more complex then you might expect, because you need to hole proof and liquid proof the things. This is doubly hard in TFC because you can't just recycle the mined stone into a protective tunnel; you would need to find a block that drops itself and is generally environment proof, as well as then set up a series of placers and drills to place, then retrieve the blocks when the cart-core has passed.
Hey mango a quick Tipp if u really want to finish the game fast: mechanical drills upside down clued together with a rope pulley on top which drives the whole contraption down to world bottom. Of course add a chest! Add a gantry carriage with gantry shafts to the rope pully to built a world eater. You do also need to add a power unit to the gantry shaft. If you now power the gantry shaft the whole contraption starts moving down. Add a gearshift to get it up real quick. Can be easily automated with a clutch and some redstone skills ;)
@@OlieB provided you don't mine next to it, cave ins won't happen because of Create drills. You can imagine it as the drills being super precise or something
Its wild seeing mango fumble and panic with this mod, knowing full well that in like 3 months there will be a vid where we will see a self-reproducing gigantic wall of miners that crafts its segments from the parts of the world it consumed as well as storage vaults for everything else, razing the world to nothing but the top layer of bedrock, if it even stops there.
Instead of mining out horizontally you could potentially make use of a Rope Pulley to mine vertically. You can combine the Rope Pulley with a Minecart Contraption to effectively make a chunk eater that's very portable.
mango you dont have to you a gearshift everytime you want to change the way shafts rotate, you can also use your normal gearboxes, only difference is that they cant be switched with redstone.
I literally just want to ilmango's videos tab to see if I missed something. also working on automating a cobblestone generator->washer->grinder-blast furnace flow for automated steel/pig iron. really enjoying this mod
Honestly i think the most important thing here is learning you can make raw stone by heating cobble with a fan Getting enough raw stone for shafts always super sucks
Common create tips: - you can mine made casings by rightclicking them with a wrench, instead of mining them. Doesn’t use any durability. - you can reverse a shaft direction by scrolling the speed controller into the other direction, making it go in the negative RPM, which is just positive RPM into the other direction.
Look into Cart Assemblers. You'll be able to move the whole drill as a contraption and place it down as one instead of rebuilding. Saves a little time ❤️
After you add the fuel if you shift right click with a torch it lites it instantly. Works for firepits too. Edit: I was reading TFC changelogs for newer versions. In later versions of the TFC this feature has been removed. It's still in the auto-TFC version because it lags a few versions behind the latest TFC releases.
It is genuinely nice to see you enjoying modded Minecraft. I was wondering when you’d get into it, It’s awesome being able to tell when your smiling through your voice. I hope you create some awesome things with create.
Look up the "cart assembler" it is a item which allows you to place large glued contractions onto minecarts. If you do that with drills, you do not need to provide power. And with deployers and a plough you can make it place and break its own tracks as well.
the fastest way i have found to make casings manually, is to first pillar up stripping the logs as you go (logs off hand, axe in main hand and hold right click and pillar up), then on the way back down swap the logs for the material needed for the casing and axe with wrench and then hold shift and right click and it makes the casings. this is by far the fastest way, and may even be faster than slower automated machines
16:36 I just thought of something, maybe it would be interesting to have the drills with a hole, so you'd have a line of blocks that you could easily get 6 sides as air blocks.
you were talking about making an igneous alloy machine, im pretty sure (although not completely certain) that you can also do it in another way with machines, something like stripping the logs by feeding them onto an upwards facing saw with a belt, and then just deploying an alloy onto them while theyre on a belt; look for something along the lines of a "sequenced assembly" tab in the recipe menu
2:35 - Bitumen is actually pronounced a bit differently to how it is spelled: bi·chuh·muhn (both American and British-English pronunciation). And yes, grade-schoolers are free to snicker at what it sounds like.
@ilmango it seems the crucible or cauldron is like a real pot. It takes long at first, Only if your waiting for it to get up to the right temp.. But once it's at the desired temp the crushed iron will melt significantly faster cause it no longer has to wait...
Minecart contraptions don't require stress units and you can even set them up to place their own rails. I'm not sure how expensive the cart assembler is in this pack but that could be ideal for mining or digging tunnels in general
You can use drills with a pulley for infinite depth quarrying allowing you to build (or place with a cart assembler) a machine above an ore patch and get both much if the ore but also easy safe access to the rest.
frome the way the ores generate in this modpack i think that a vertical drill using rope pulleys coulb be way more efficient for mining the big ore vains. Loving the serie btw
Awesome exploration of new tools, yet completely ignored the cave-in that clearly occurred during the cut at 21:10... Share your cave-in stories too! ;) Love the series, glad to hear there's lots more ready for posting!
Don't know if I'll ever play this myself, but yet another awesome episode. Wish they were longer, but that probably wouldn't be great for many reasons lol
Hello, the coal forge from create mod with a fan can make magma block when you use the bitmutenous coal as fuel on it. (Super heated is like lava temperature)
The drill can actually be automatic without a piston pulley. Rails can make this easier and make a makeshift drill bore train system that can run on either the infinite rails or till it’s out of fuel. You’ll know pretty soon as you read more on Create, the only Mod that makes anything possible even making automatic brewery for potions.
After ir has heat up a crucible it's easier to melt stuff and if it has some hot melted stuff already it has heat energy in that melted mass that gets transferred to the solid material, hence why it's faster with already melted iron in it. Just like IRL. In old steel plants getting the heat going in the "furnace" and such takes a lot of time and energy so you need to keep feeding like iron pellets and coal, letting the steel drain slowly and put more raw materials. Modern plants can use "arc furnaces", which is like a big electric arc generator that drops in a big crucible to heat the material. In steel making they preferably use recycled steel, as it takes less time and energy then going then with only raw materials. Not an area that I worked on, but I did study some of it in university. The drills in Create open up so many possibilities and the mechanics seem more interesting then the "magical" drills and quarries in good old BuildCraft mod back in Beta. I'm just not sure about the windmills working underground, as it just feels very weird and wrong.
I think you can transport lava with create. If you pump it into the tank with the help of a pump, it should be possible to take the tank with the help of a minecart and a minecart assembler, and the lava should stay in the tank. Then with the help of the pump you can get it out again as a block.
Two things:1st is it is faster and more efficient to break casings with a Wrench IIRC its rmb related, and 2nd is the fact that depot plus smart chute plus two arms, one with axe other with alloy, and a hopper placing log onto depot make automation of casings much easier
if you want to make the auto miner cheaper, people have made tunnel bores with create via the cart assembler and a auto placing minecart rail. there are a few good designs I've seen on the internet and I recommend checking them out or designing your own
a rope pulley is good for drilling down the problem with max speed drills is that they go through blocks as you saw if you double layer it then it will drill with no problem
you should really find that lava source soon. is probably down below if you just mine down to Y=-50 or so. i did it in my world and is one of the best things i did. not only for igneous alloy production, but also for shaft production, which is basically cogwheel production and gearbox production... is just great in general to get the basics for create, and you only need a fan, some drills and water, which you can get from the surface. also... once you have a cobble gen and a stone gen, you can actually generate ores for free too that way, you craft what the drill breaks with mechanical crafters, then you wash it using water and a fan, and then you crush it to get double yield... is not a lot per drill, and is going to be messy working all the wheels and water and lava and conveyor belts... but i think is worth it, is basically free iron, copper and gold from cobble, and a lot others from stone (btw, im calling it cobble and stone but is really lava into flowing water or lava into source water, since in vanilla that is cobble and stone, here is two different stones that give different ores)
i feel like mining in a straight line is less productive than mining in a circle. and plus circular mining can easily be expanded but just increasing the radius
I feel like in TFC doing a quarry method (from the surface down) is better than the tunnel bore method as demonstrated here, due to the way ore veins are generated.
I kind of wish this was a little faster I overtook your progress after episode 10 I believe. I tried doing stuff larger scale early on to get more exponential growth. My first drill setup used up ALL my resources but it payed off big time.
I'm curious, wpuldnt it be more efficient to start burning with a chealer fuel like lignite before putting the bituminous coal in as to nit waste any of it when heating up
I recommend using minecart contraption to make automatic tunnel bore. Machine placing rails in front of it and picking them up behind it using a plow, powered by furnace minecart.

Its really cool seeing Mango learn Create bit by bit. I can't wait to see what crazy contraptions he comes up with by the end of the series!
8:29 you can pick up casings by shift right-clicking with the wrench, you don't have to mine them with a pickaxe

I think drills can be attached to either windmill or mechanical bearing, so that you can drill out the ore vein nicely in a circular pattern
You could find a vein, build a big vertical drill and dig straight trough the middle of the vein

I knew ilmango would love create, it’s so much fun
You could make a simple assembly line with two deployers to make the casings. One deployer to strip the log and one to apply the alloy.
You might add some drilling behind the first head layout, oriented to left right up and down
LOL at Mango, building a miner that looks like what I build when playing Space engineers.
Use a sticky piston to push a sticky piston to mine? Can create a tunnel bore 🤣
You can instantly break andesite/igneous casings by shift-right clicking them with the wrench
for tfc ore veins the mechanical bearing is probably more useful. also u could combine the windmill and drill into one block.

Love the series ilmango. Couldn’t you automate the bellows?
We do love new mango vid.
you don't need only gearshifts to reverse rotation. gear boxes work too.
Rotating quarry anyone? Mechanical bearing on a pulley
Would making a large disc of downward facing drills over an ore vein on the surface, than drilling downward with a rope pully cause a cave-in?
With vanes being about 16x16 big you can probably just drill from the top down.
