His solo was literally based on a classical melody, I can't remember which componist/piece, but it's a very popular one. :D I figured he had to be calssically trained.

Galneryus is simply glorious, their music is so virtuous, but at the same time is so deeply emotional, even when they're high up above the speed of light you can feel the burst of emotions, is so beautiful! Truly an unique band, one of the greatest of Metal in the globe, too bad they are not so recognized worldwide, probably because Sho sings in japanese, there is no words to describe such beauty, I've got goosebumps all the time listening to their music...
I've seen quite a few reactions to this, several of them good. But yours is exceptional. Both your emotions and your technical insights. Reall great stuff. I come back to this reaction sort of regularly. And, yes, a really amazing song. And Syu is ... I don't know if exceptional is enough.
This was the song that introduced me to Galneryus a couple years back, and it's such a damn good song! Getting to see them live in the States last year (first time ever!!!) was one of the biggest treats, they are all so incredibly talented (got them to sign my vest before their set too)! There's a couple different songs you could go with after this, but the 3 I'd recommend would be either Raise My Sword, Hunting For Your Dream, or Destiny. All 3 absolute bangers 🤘

I only wish they'd used live drumming (like from his ex-bandmate and Fuki's current bandmate Fumiya) rather than programmed drumming. The vocals and guitar work are top notch though.
Man I've always seen that if all masters of classic music were alive in that age would play metal xD All the keys in metal are able to fix into it BTW, Syu was violinist so thats the reason why he is always applying some scales and pieces of partitures of classical music into his solos
As fantastic the metal work is, SHOUT OUT to the orchestra for being all in on the tempo and essence of the song. Dead in the pocket the whole flipping time! Can't be easy to keep up when you're sawing on a violin for 18 minuets in this type of song.
The opening is the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D minor op. 35. Actually, many of the guitar solos are transliterations from the second movement of the violin concerto. Galneryus is well known by picking this classical influences and making great metal
I always enjoy Chase's videos more when I am familiar with the song and this one was a treat. Only discovered Galneryus a few months ago but this song has been on repeat in playlists.
So happy we got to this one. I would have been happy with the 7 minute music video version, but this is "a lot" in the best possible way. So many great melodies and solos. I love that it has both incredibly technical solos and ones that are full of emotion.

Galneryus are not only great musicians, but also brilliant songwriters. One does not digest easily lengthy songs, but in this they manage to take you through 18 minutes like it was a yawn. If you enjoyed this, I'm looking forward to your reaction to Symphony X (The Odyssey it's an other "pack a lunch" song, unfortunately there's not a well recorded live performance), they tend to structure their songs more, like journeys they want to take you on, you'll love them.

Definitely check out something from their 'Advance to the Fall' album, "Silent Revelation" is only like 5 mins. Sadly, cuz it's an old song, the actual music video is horrible quality now :(

Another thing to note about the vibrato of the singer as well, classical singing uses a LOT of vibrato as well. This song is based on Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto and has a lot of “classical” elements to it. I think a lot of vibrato is a very natural thing. Straight-tone usually means something is wrong with the fundamentals of the vocalist.
A suggestion for you Chase. Meadows End - Non-Dreaming Eye. its simple, tecnical, brutal and beautiful. Has a good video with a little humor, brutal vocals, pounding drums, and one of the most beautiful guitar solos i have ever heard. i really hope you would concider it, i would love your musical breakdown of the song, and i truly believe you would love it.

Fun fact: one of Kamiband's guitarists, Leda, used to be Galneryus's bassist from 2006 to 2009. And he also joined them as a supporting guitarist on their 2011 tour. Another fun fact: Unlucky Morpheus's drummer Fumiya was also Galneryus's drummer from 2016 untill summer of 2020. Neither of them are in this video though since it is from the 2014 concert. Syu has made an album Vorvados (2019) with some well known Japanese artists like Fuki. One hell of an album with insane guitar playing.

A suggestion for you Chase. Meadows End - Non-Dreaming Eye. its simple, tecnical, brutal and beautiful. Has a good video with a little humor, brutal vocals, pounding drums, and one of the most beautiful guitar solos i have ever heard. i really hope you would concider it, i would love your musical breakdown of the song, and i truly believe you would love it.

Fun fact: one of Kamiband's guitarists, Leda, used to be Galneryus's bassist from 2006 to 2009. And he also joined them as a supporting guitarist on their 2011 tour.
Another fun fact: Unlucky Morpheus's drummer Fumiya was also Galneryus's drummer from 2016 untill summer of 2020.
Neither of them are in this video though since it is from the 2014 concert.

I think you'd really like OLDCODEX, especially their songs "Where'd They go" and "Aching Horns". It's a really interesting band with a very unconventional line-up.
Just to say, drummer is not the same anymore. They took Fumiya from Unluncky morpheus and now they got a new drummer called Lea (and that's not a girl)
