Experienced Wooting modder here! I will give you the best mods so you dont have to look for it :) (Hope this gets pinned for the community, as personally I have did many sound tests and nearly 1k to test out different mods for the Wooting, whereby their hall effect switches sound dogshit) Free Mods: - Removing of PCB Foam (Increases Loudness) Cheap Mods: - Tempest Mod - Blue Painter's Tape (Increases Loudness, Adds Little Poppy Sound Profile) - Polyfill (Instead of Case Foam, Sounds Amazing) - Gummy O-Ring Friction Mount (Bakaneko60 or Graveshift M 30a-50a) - TX AP Stabilizers (Best stabilizer change you can get in the market) - Lubing Switches (Krytox GPL205g0 for Stem and Housing, GPL105 for Springs - for springs see bag lubing) - PC Plate for Thock, Aluminium Plate for Clack, but im odd so i love FR4 - it looks amazing :3 Moderate Mods: ONE OF THE CLEAR WINNERS FOR BETTER SOUND - Switch Swapping ( If you care about the sound, I suggest Gateron Magnetic Jade Switches) Expensive Mods: - Case Swapping (If you are getting the Tofu Redux, I suggest to buy the brass weight together with it) - Quality Keycap Swapping (see www.alexotos.com/keyboard-vendor-list/) Useless Mods (IMO): - Switch Films (they barely do jackshit on the lekkers and are a complete waste of time) Side Note: I honestly wouldn't bother lubing Wooting Stock L60 or L45 switches. They really sound horrible and no good lube job is going to fix it. Just get the Gateron Magnetic Jade switches fr. and why not Burger O-ring you might ask? Yeah, I have tried it out and had the most frustrating 30 minutes of my life trying to screw the burger mounted o-ring into it's hole and i have only encountered problems. Over-tightening of o-rings, O-rings breaking, Inflexible if you are a frequent modder, Exhibits inconsistent typing sound compared to the gummy o-ring friction mount. edit (3 may), swapped to the magnetic jades, sounds really great and probably one of the most worth it purchases.
thanks for the thorough advice! def wanna try the magnetic jade switches next. I think it also all comes down to preference, I personally prefer the PCB foam included, filming, and lubing the lekker switches
the pcb foam indeed comes down to personal preference, its been a 50/50 for it most of the time! maybe i was overcritical on the lekkers, but i guess it does make the lekekrs sound a tad bit better~ as for the films, personally i dont see much effect using it soo yeah, but in the end up to personal preference:) if you love something go for it! when it comes down to keyboard modding, there's never no this or no that, it all depends on your preference of sound profile! after all we humans, our skulls are all built uniquely, and thus process sound differently:D
im so happy to see a keyboard enthusiast do their thing with a wooting considering its the best gaming keyboard by far and a lot of gamers arent into the keyboard hobby. fingers crossed they make a 65% eventually so I can get one
have you heard of wooting mod tap? it can replace the right modifier keys with arrow keys and make u be able to still use the mod keys when holding the key down
The lekker sounds like a rattle can of spray paint. I appreciate the video for entertainment but this is far from thock. It’s a shame Wooting does not come stock with the Gateron jade because the stock lekkers are wobbly rattling switches. You could feel this when you place your fingers over the keycaps.
Sounds definitely better than stock but compared to a mechanical keyboard it sounds more like a budget sub $30 stock keyboard. I really hope that newer magnetic switches will sound more like mechanical switches.
Hey, could you do a tutorial for these mods? I couldnt see from that far away what you were lubing, what the pads were and what the tape mod does. All i know that i sounds very good :)
By far the best sounding HE keyboard The mushy shift though is likely due to overlubing the stem of the stabilizer, I made the same mistake on my drunkdeer a75 when lubing it (in fact I overlubed all the switches XD)
This video changed my life. If I were the UA-cam algorithm, I would definitely recommend that every person with a UA-cam account watch this video as soon as possible!
You never herared anything about eletrostatic protection right?! Completely unprofessional work. I can't believe i really saw you taped the pcb with anything alse than capton tape... And so on....
One thing people don't understand is that the Wooting 60HE is definitely not made to be the best sounding keyboard. It's literally made for gaming performance. Yeah it may not sound the best but it's one of if not the best gaming keyboard available right now. I consider myself an extremely competitive player and I would trade performance over quality/sound any day. Hopefully one day we can have the best of both worlds.
With the new 60he+ module adding screw in stabs and pairing with some aftermarket HE switches and a case you can honestly do both now. My wooting sounds super marbley and poppy with the WS dashes. The main sound problem was the terrible plate tolerances for the stabs and switches, as well as the lekkers being open bottom leaving them sounding empty and soulless.
@@ridiak3637 yeah I have the 60HE+ as well. Without any aftermarket parts I fuckin loved the sound straight out the box. Granted I bought the lube kit and 45g Lekker switches so it's sounds a bit different, but straight out of the box no mods it sounded amazing. Truly pioneers of the keyboard industry.
imagine how many more custom keyboards you would have if you didn’t spend thousands of dollars on valorant skins 8:50 found the 1 monthly swiper listener 🙏
The stock keys sound like PERFORMANCE and SPEED. Anyway I know they don't have the most impressive sound out of the box, but it's not really the selling point of the board.
I don’t mean to be rude when I say this but I think a burger mount and using the new gateron jade switches would sound much better than this. Not to mention the factory lube on those switches is pretty solid, so it would save a ton of time. Is there a reason you didn’t include either of those two mods or is it something that was overlooked? Thank you
You’re good! And very valid questions. I bought the parts and recorded this before gateron jade switches or any third party switches were available, so I was making do with the lekker switches. As for the burger mount, I was going to do it and just forgot 😭.
Check out Woque Studio's "3.1 Black Glitter" stabs, they're decent outta the box but awesome after some modding - the selling point being? They have built-in "Holee" mod, semi thick red rubber inserts for the wire
I followed wooting's advise on how to remove the switch easily. You can unscrew and remove the PCB first, the switch and plate should easily be removed.
Unfortunately controllers to this day still use potentiometers and not Hall effect sensors. The only similar application I know where hall sensors are utilized is in radios for drones where the precision should be more accurate than in that of an xbox or a ps4/5 etc controllers.
that is a whole lotta difference. It will never sound as good as a good custom keyboard. But you did a damn good job. Very cool to see a esports performance keyboard getting soundoptimized like this. Would love to mod my speed silver switches (my performance keyboard) now.
Have the two HE stock with lube a d tweezers pack that I've never used. I'm at the point In my life where I don't care anymore how my keyboard sounds because I always wear a headphone and live alone 😂
Does this mod make it seem quieter? I realllly want a silent wooting, thinking of using thin o-ring on keycaps and a mod like what you have done here with tape and foam and better case to help deaden all of the sound
thank you and def try modding your wooting! you could try just tape mod + lubing switches and stabilizers, it makes a significant difference with little risk in my opinion (and tbh there is little risk with modding keyboards in general, can’t really damage the PCB or switches)
i am happy i just got into PCs and keybords and i just buaght a keybord that has ttc gold pink switches are they any good also the keybord i buaght sadly there isnt much info on
Hey im really new to this modding stuff. Do you mind sending the specific holee mod video you used to holee mod for the wooting, if not can you recommend one. Also around 10 minutes when you added the switch pads did you reuse the wooting PCBfoam aswell? Sorry for the dumb questions and thank you in advance!
Hi! These are very good questions no worries. I used this video ua-cam.com/video/-vhpHjlkRgQ/v-deo.htmlsi=deXgVO7TH99UCna1 for my holee mod and I used both the switch pads and wooting PCB foam. Best of luck with modding!

Nah. Raptor HE switches with the lekker stem sound far better.

thanks!
Were the switches somewhat pre-lubed? I hear that newer L60s and especially L45s they are prelubed from the factory.
i don't think so, this was filmed back in May 2023 and the keyboard was from an April batch
