Lol...I was 13 years old when I first heard and fell in love with this song about 1977....now I'm 52 and still in love with Chanson D'amour which means "Love Song" thanks for sharing....Aaron from Australia
'Caught Manhattan Transfer at LA's Greek Theater yrs ago... 'One of the best Concerts I've ever been too'...... & They did several encores !! An indelible Goose-flesh Evening !!......
i too think of that episode. fantastic show but of course their crafts are vastly different and each are superb in what they do.... especially laurel masse.
remember this from back in the day as a child but just watching the last episode of "are you being served" and they are singing it so had to find it on UA-cam to hear It properly
i love this group! great video, this had to be some time in the 70s or very early 80s, laurel has a lovely voice. this song always reminds me of the "are you being served" finale. The M T is so cool, and i love the second number as well. I sure would like to see them live. thanks for posting
Brilliant - just brilliant - and completely live too. I have a very faint memory of this song as kid in primary svhool - they used to play in our weekly lunch-time school discos. And we all used to mime the rat-a-tat-a-tat bit. Memories...
Right. Laurel Masse is the tall redhead. The lead vocalist on Chanson d'Amour is Janis Siegel. Laurel is probably mentioned in the header because she was an original member of the current group (from 1972-1978) and was a contributor to their early success. She is a great singer and has a lot of fans. Plus she was apparently the one who came up with the idea for this particular arrangement of the song for the group.
what a god dam beutytyfal song, remeber beibg 13 or so when this was in the charts and madly in love with an american girl so some very dgood mems of this song.
Janis always kills her lead on this. Alan Paul was righteous in his lead on the second number. It is not easy to learn to roll those Rs well. They hit the right tone even with the choreography.

That's right! It was number 1 for over a month during 1977 I think.
Great to listen to a-n-d to move your bod to!!
This isn't Laurel Massé on lead vocals? Laurel's the tall redhead, yep?
Were you going 'Ra-tee-ta-tee-tah' in the middle? Cause the little one out of Cannon and Ball kept that joke going well into the 1980s lol
I am so singing this in french class
Art and Dottie Todd had this song.
@supertchoupi 1977, en Palma de Mallorca.
Good 1 majorsnag!!!
Now Laurel and Janis return to sing TOGETHER AGAIN !! they have formed together with Lauren Kinhan the vocal group called "JALALA"
my dad is the guitarist in the middle ! He winks at 4.01 so try and watch out for it !!
fantastico!, grabacion original del MM77!!!!!!!.
