Hi John. It was great to meet you and chat when you visited the 2mm Scale Association Roadshow stand and put a face to the voice. The wheels that you wanted went in the post this afternoon, so they should be with you in a couple of days. Pete
Peter thank you so very much, I really appreciate it. It was also such a pleasure to meet you and really enjoyed our chat. I’ll let you know when the wheels arrive and I’ll show them on my next video. Thank you once again.
Great video of the exhibition John. You certainly pushed the boat out with your spending. I look forward to seeing the results Thanks for sharing. Roy.
Hello from America John! I enjoyed your video. I too am careful about spending and like you I do not easily spend top dollar on a single car or locomotive. I have found it much more rewarding to buy used and recondition models over time into something special and unique. It is like rescuing them and giving them new life. Cheers!
Hi Jim, I generally hold that philosophy with rolling stock, where there are multiples of the same or similar thing, eg rakes of wagons or coaches, the detail tends to be lost there, as we each focus on the loco. I do do scratch build stock if it’s not available RTR or I can make them easily. I did 3d print a few 16t mineral wagons, you have to look carefully to spot them. I have to admit though I have bought the occasional ‘special’ which cost more eg Revolution Trains Caroline. I do spend more on locos as I enjoy the modern features. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Hi John! It looked like a good show, and you certainly came away with a good haul of electronics! Funnily enough I was in contact with John at YouChoos a few weeks ago, and he saved me a fiver on one of those sound decoders! Good chap! :)) All the best, Ian.
John is a really lovelly chap, he's helped me out several times. I took my OO gauge class 121, which has one of his decoders. It suffered from the very common drive shaft issue. I repaired it, but on replacing the decoder the sound strangely stopped working, so he's taken it away to sort.
Hi John Great video, Glad you enjoyed the show and I see you made some interesting purchases, it was great to see you at the show thanks for the great chat. All the best Nat🚂👍
Hi John you only live once quite right. I've been to the NEC too and spoke with Simon too lol. I enjoyed the show, I went today (Sunday) and it was mainly electrics too, dcc concepts + lights from another supplier. I enjoyed the cinema at lunchtime for a sit while I ate. Pity we went on separate days but hey ho. Look forward to seeing the pulman when it's done. Great video of the show atb Andy
I agree, great time had by all. Shame we missed each other, really enjoyed our chat last waiting to go in. I am kinda limited to the days I go due to the availability of public transport, Sunday services are considerably less often and finish earlier. I might try to go the the April one at NEC, but that depends on how work goes.
Sounds like you are Northampton based. NDMRC meet at Hardingstone village hall Thursday evenings from 7pm. more than welcome to come and see what we do.
Hi, I’m in Northamptonshire not Northampton itself. I am there quite often though for work. Thank you for the offer of the club, but I often have very early starts making it quite unfeasible. Thank you again though.
I know exacly what you mean John, when you say you only live once. I think if we are constantly worried about shelling out the cost of models, let's be honest, we'd have to find another hobby. Everything is so expensive, it works out that my latest train (hst), came in at a whopping £800! But, I think once you have it, you enjoy it, and soon the cost is all in the past. The show looks amazing, and talking of the gorgeous hst, I can't wait to see your pullman running. What a beautiful train. Best regards, as always, Lee.
Thanks Lee, absolutely, well said. I’ll for the sound in the next week or so and show at Xmas or there about. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment.
Some great layouts John, interesting re the stay alive, havent seen them in n gauge, you will have to update us how you get along with them, useful for stuttering on points I imagine.
Hi, yes I think they will really help. Both the 323 and 185 stutter and stop, so it can be quite frustrating. Im currently applying the livery then Ill do the stay alive after that.
Really enjoyed this John, i really like the time you spend showing the stands and your purchases. Did Bachmann and Dapol have stands? Looking forward to hearing the new sound conversion.
Thanks Chris, I love going to these shows, so glad you enjoyed the video. That was only a small selection of the layouts as many were swamped. Bachmann and Dapol were noticeably absent. Nor was Cavalex Most of the others present and correct.
Hi John, Well done on showing us some of your day here glad you enjoyed it and a nice haul of stuff to work with. Do you think some of these shows are getting to big and expensive with to many attendees to be a "good" experience or do you like them because they are big? I do like the smaller shows as so much easier to film them. Keep well give the voice a rest and get soldering. Cheers Robert.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. Personally I enjoy these big shows. I’ve only been to two (with GETS) this year. As there is plenty there to see, many many traders. They often attract other UA-camrs, big names in the industry, manufacturers etc etc. I like that, but that’s me. I do see the attraction of smaller shows, but my local shows ( when I remember they’re on) are so small Ive seen everything in an hour or even half hour. Always used to feel a bit short changed. We each have to decide what is best for us.
Hello John, I hope you're well Been hearing a lot of mixed reviews of the NEC show, but I hope you enjoyed it. Really like the Loram class 37. Really stunning artwork on display. Royal Albert Bridge looked amazing 🤩 All the best Deano
Hi Deano, I really enjoyed it, but I always do. Lots to see, lots of traders, wider aisles. However the show was noticeably smaller, BUT it’s the first one and I guess they wanted to dip their toes in the water and see. They probably modify things next year. Hopefully Dapol and Bachmann will be there too

Well... its OK sometimes, can't do it that often, depends how work goes.

It does look as if it was a good show John. Augurs well for next year I'll revert to coming down on the Friday and doing two days. Stephen
I’m so sorry to have missed you, but yes I agree come ahead of time. Expensive though!

@@petertownsend8276 Hi Peter, Yes thank you soooo much and they are the insulated wheels I needed. Cant tell you how grateful Im am. Thank you so much
