Another great video Richard, the layout is coming along really well, always enjoy watching what new things that you do on it, gives me more ideas every time ,
The embankment coming on nicely and love the cheap plug with those boxes as well, think the Manor Class wanted a fight with the box. Also great to meet you at Guildex
Nice to see your layout develop Richard. I've bought everything for a new 12ft shelf layout except motivation. I have created the 2x6ft baseboards and that's it. I've booked two weeks off next month in the hope of starting it.
Great progress, makes me motivated to do the other side of my 6X4 modern layout which I've been avoiding to do. Liking the overheads which helps make the scene look modern and busy . Will be taking some inspiration from the greenery in this update onto my own :)
I've a suggestion for the heritage bridge. At the back of the bridge if you put a picture of a town street or village street. So when you look under the bridge along the road it'll carry on the scene Will something like that work to pop out the back of the bridge
Hi Richard! Not been online much as annoyingly, the 1:1 railway has taken up most of my time (apparently I have to actually go to work to get paid 😠), but it great to finally catch up with your progress! 😎 Those portals look superb now, and I agree that the more fiddling and faffing you do the more realistic it tends to look. The messier, the better in my experience! 😂 I’ve never used sea foam but you really can get a good looking effect with it can’t you? 🤔 I was going to suggest that maybe you add some purple buddleia bushes at some point as we seem to have about seven garden centre’s worth at the side of our railway 🤣😂😅 By the way, those new fence sections look excellent and have really improved the look of the perimeter. And that wire fence looks excellent too, though try not to trash it next time 😉 Cheers mate, give Lulu a pet from me 👍😄 🍀 🍻
Hi Richard, Layout is looking amazing! Love the work you’ve done over the top of the tunnel portal, looks so realistic. Am very envious you are getting to play with a Class 60 already I’m impatiently waiting for mine 😂 keep up the great work. All the best, Harry
Looking great mate, particularly around the fence. The shot you briefly had from inside the layout fa ing out looked superb! Just wondering where all the Azuma services have gone as well 😂 Tbf the 60&66 look cracking!
Looking excellent Richard. I wonder if getting some ash from the barbecue (next time you have one) and putting it through a fine sieve might yield something to make the path that often runs along the cess next to the track.
ROGER: Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say 'ni' at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land. Nothing is sacred. Even those who arrange and design shrubberies are under considerable economic stress at this period in history. ARTHUR: Did you say 'shrubberies'? ROGER: Yes. Shrubberies are my trade. I am a shrubber. My name is 'Roger the Shrubber'. I arrange, design, and sell shrubberies. BEDEVERE: Ni!
Really starting to come together now, you must be pleased with the progress. Do you ever plan to add backscene? Those GBRF coal wagons look great, did you do the grafitti and weather them yourself? Thanks for the update!
The layout is looking great! I'm waiting for my Key Model World Exclusive XC HST that should come next month! Do you have any delivery dates for it? Thank you!
At some stage, you need to cover the Tunnel so that light is not getting into the internals. Because at the moment it looks like a very strange bridge & not a tunnel.
That is really beginning to look very realistic. Could I ask how you generated the sound for the train in the introduction - in particular, the rake of wagons? I thought that it sounded just like the real thing. Perhaps it was!
Great to see you back, Richard, I've missed you! The layout looks superb. Watching you add foliage reminded me that we used to use hanging basket lining for such a job back in the day.

GET IN, 60 looking beautiful, good to see the layout really taking shape...and every time I see a new episode of new junction is out it makes my day a whole lot better! Very nice, hope you are doing well 😊
Hey Richard. Looking really good! I have a tip for you that you might want to try. If you have some dark ballast spare, just sprinkle a little bit here and there amongst the bushes. You can use them to imitate little stones and rocks amongst the grass and greenary. I've tried it on my layout and even such a small thing can make a difference. Give it a try if you like :)
Quick question How do you decide which era to do the layout in I've seen a few layouts and can't decide on vintage or more modern trains and accompanying scenery
Well done, Richard. I know this is your favourite part of building a layout. You can see how thick the brick is on the right-hand side of the tunnel wing. You covered it well on the left-hand side. Martin. (Thailand)
Very nice update but imo the original New Junction looked so much better. I'm not doubting your efforts Richard at getting and exhibition layout but your old one looked (imo) a hell of a lot better
@NewJunction I might just being impatient. I loved the little heritage line you had on the old layout and the station area but I know these things take time especially when you've got an involved job like yours
For your bushes if the noch stuff is like rocking horse p## I use horse hair for the same job and creating bracken etc readily available from quite a few suppliers
This is going to sound silly, but, a tiny broken kitchen appliance (fridge or oven) just above the tunnel would look incredibly realistic. Especially if it had a door hanging off, maybe resting against the fence.
Looking great Richard! Although i would say when you run the 800 ads some of the other locos run them a little bit faster maybe scale speed? But if you are just being cautious seen as though it’s all a work in progress and has a lot of curves it’s fine.
It has been awhile since I last stopped by your railroad. Last time I was here you had just made and installed that fine double portal tunnel. A lot of work on the scenery and it looks really good! I would suggest possibly a Tall tree over against the fencing where you were talking @13:01 at that break in the fence line. Really enjoying how well you are building this layout! CHEERS from New York, USA.
I understand that the layout is in work, but I hope that he heavily weathers the ballast. So many modelers neglect this or too lightly weather it. Look at any (not recently laid) stretch of track and the ballast is very dark and dirty for the most part. Same goes for freight wagons - how often do you see a wagon that is not filthy?
Amazing update! It is a shame that all the trains appear to be running with the signals at caution- even freights are still very fast, and it would be nice to see them at full line speed on your fine railway
