Great video. I don't think the masking tape is need, but I love the small extra step to protect the car!!!!
FYI: When you apply masking tape, you are "masking" whatever, and you would say, "Once you have masked the [blank]..."

Hey beat sonia. Great instructional video. Just wondering - have you tried replacing the HDMI > lightning adapter with a Chrome cast unit? Meaning the Chrome cast is installer directly in the av HDMI adapter. Wouldn't that actually work? And simultaniously give you wireless mirroring with both Apple and Android.. thanks in advance
This is will work. However you will need to put a hotspot in your vehicle as Chromecast does not allow to use the bandwidth from your phone.

The screen supports all apps on your phone. Yes, it Google Maps will work. However, we recommend using WAZE.

Got everything hooked up, decent quality. My only problem is I ran into a safety precaution that disables my video unless the parking break is on/up. Did I do something wrong or is an extra step required? Switch doesn’t seem to solve it as far as I know. (2013 RAV/iPhone 7)
Nevermind, I figured it out. It case anyone was wondering; just have the parking brake down when you start the car and make sure you don’t mess with it during the duration of the drive or it will default to the safety precaution again!

Do you need the vehicle in park in order for the mirroring to work? Hoping to have alternate navigation app going, or infrared video for night time driving.
The kit comes with Video in Motion and mirroring can be done while the car is driving.

Just a heads up. After spending two frustrating hours looking for lost components I discovered a 2nd Beat Sonic mirroring for my Rav4 2017 that updates. You all ought to pin a post on this. Man, was that discouraging. Less equipment, different colors, different shapes. Ugh!

I see you hooked up this 14-18 Rav4 for Apple. But do you have an android screen mirroring tutorial? Or kit? I have a note 20 and a hybrid 2017 toyota without gps maps built in but It does have a crappy phone linked gps if my connection is good but I mostly run into issues with it not functioning properly... is there a way to use my android phone and mirror it to my Rav4 screen like you've done here?
Yes, the install is the same for android. Only difference is that instead of using an apple AV adapter you will use a wireless dongle. Description in the product link

I'd use google maps with the mirror over the very outdated looking Toyota nav system any day of the week. When you look at that Toyota nav vs GM, Dodge, or Ford's system you really scratch your head wondering how many decades old it is.

The phone will have to be controlled on the phone itself. For a hands-free experience, we recommend you use "Hey Siri" feature on your phone while driving.

one question, WHY? $300+ kit to use a factory radio full of wires when I can get a new car stereo with an HDMI connection for about $350 and no fuss with connections. You may remove that panel simply by holding it with your hand and pull towards you as it is only being held by clips.

In order to listen to the radio and hear google map voice directions at the same time, you will need to download a radio application on your phone. You may multi-task on your phone to achieve radio music while using google map turn by turn directions.

I wanna get this but I have one question that is bugging me and I can’t find an answer. Does the screen on the dash remain on if you lock the phone therefore turn the phone screen off?
It depends on the content you are mirroring. If you are mirroring maps and lock the phone, screen will go black. But if you are mirroring a video and lock the phone video will continue to play
Remember to not hook anything under you turning wheel, these vehicles have knee airbags in there.

Do you have to disconnect the batteries before the project?
We recommend you disconnect the car battery for extra measure to not short any wires just in case you make any mistakes during the install process.
Does the touch input work on the RAV4 display?
You may only control the smartphone on the phone itself and not the radio touch input.
I just received my if02ep and installed it on my 2017 RAV4 LE. I’m able to get my iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone SE to mirror but the resolution is cut off at the bottom on all 3 screen options. What Can I do to fix this issue?
